Mirrors Edge
So, grabbed the demo from the PS Store last night.
I have to say that I hadn't really heard a thing about this title prior to seeing it pop up in the store there, but hey...I usually delete my gamespy emails unless there's something in there I'm specifically looking out for. So I load up this demo, not knowing what to expect. Interesting kind've storyline from what I've seen, slightly futuristic. The visuals are nice and crisp. The game itself, well, when I first got onto it all I thought was "weird" - to say this game is in first person view doesn't quite cut it - I have never played a game where you feel quite as "inside the body" of the character, as I did here - it's slightly disorienting but you get over that pretty quickly. The combat and movement incorporates things like deflection and free running...and all feels quite natural. The movement and interaction with the environment is based on timing, flow of movement and is pretty intuitutive but easy to pick up. You really feel as though you're in there, vaulting over things, running across walls, and performing all of the crazy stunts this game throws at you. I have to say, when playing through the demo, for the first time in quite a while I feel like I've stumbled across something NEW to gaming (at least to me) I'd strongly recommend checking out the demo, the full game is definately on my list. |
Had a look further into it...
This game is also on x360 - you guys can check it out too. So, there's a demo on the PS store, and I guess hopefully there will be one on whatever the xbox equivalent to that is. Seriously, check it out if you want to experience something truly NEW to gaming. |
I've downloaded the demo for the 360 and can't wait to try it. Been watching it ever since they promised to deliver a game with parkour in it.

Did you know ps2 (among a few other consoles, I think) actually had a game called "free running" on it? I have not spoken to a single person who's tried that game... So yeah, try it - I hope the "different" control system doesn't piss you off. Come back in and let me know your thoughts. |
downloading it now....will give thoughts later.
|
wow......this is very cool....a bit more button use than I'm used to in an FPS....but well worth the learning curve.
|
Knew this had a lot of potential the first time I saw the video.
Good recs...this one ll end up on my shelf very soon. Gonna download the demo later tonight. |

I'm better than you :D :p |
Great fun, lots of quick button presses but it's not a mashing game, I loved running away while people are shooting at you and you're sliding under things and springboarding over fences. What a blast!

Downloaded the demo of this today. Going to give it a go either later tonight or tomorrow.

I will play this for sure but it's likely to give me motion sickness.
|
Yeah, if you're prone to motion sickness, this game'd probably do it unfortunately...
|
Played the demo last night...This game is amazing!
|
Im stoked it came out for the 360 too, when I saw the adds on tv it said only for PS3.
|
when I first played the demo I didn't really care for it.But I rented it anyway and fell in love with.Running along walls, scaling over huge fences and flying over huge jumps is just so much damn fun.
