Carnival Of Souls

This movie directed by Herk Harvey is a classic and good horror movie. I remember watching it with my mom and being really freaked out. Who else liked this movie. I watched the remake made in '98 and i didnt like it as much at all.

I JUST REALIZED THIS IS ALREADY A THREAD STARTED BY SOMEONE ELSE. MY BAD!

I agree it's a great classic horror movie which is quite chilling with a good premise which has been copied many times over the years.

It's also in the public domain now so you can download it for free at the Internet Archive

Definitely a great classic. Really creepy.

Excellent film. Truly talented film-making, considering the budget and unknown actors.

I bookmarked that page. That movie might be interesting as long as it has subtitles. :o

A classic, hands-down. It had a Twilight Zone feel to it. Very moody, effective use of lighting.

ahhhhh the part where he breaks the girls neck has haunted me for years!

You must be talking about the remake.

hacelikewhoa 11-07-2008 07:59 PM

I guess so I've only watched it a few times, I think It was like at a sleepover when I was in like 5th grade haha the movie was creepy. I guess I'll have to watch the original

Doc Faustus 11-10-2008 04:15 PM

Definitely. The original is a kind of creepy that belongs almost entirely to it and Polanski's Repulsion. I go back and forth on which one captures those feelings the best.

i think its a great example of where low budget can be made into something really fascinating and disturbing

Zombi3 11-16-2008 12:43 AM

it's been a while since i've seen this one, gonna have to check it out again.
i had no idea there was a remake.:)

Herc's other films had titles like "What About School Spirit?" and "Pork: the Meal with a Squeal." But here he really seemed to be touched by genius.
