Halloween costumes

So, with the Halloween party season upon us, and the day itself rapidly approaching, what costume plans do you all have, if any?

I myself plan on going as the Elephant Man, from the Lynch film:

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/Elephant.jpg

The hardest part was finding a burlap sack like that, but i was lucky enough to find one at the bank, and they were nice enough to give it to me.

The rest i can order online or get at a craft store.

So, what about the rest of you?

Leprucky Cougar 10-13-2008 02:58 PM

Cool.. I not going for "scary" or "adorable" or "cool" this year.

I'm going for originality...thought this would be funny

as a Gangsta Clown....with grillz, baggy jeans, the rainbow hair, the makeup, no balloons though--no puppies--one that is a modern day, semi-destitute clown that "can't afford the multi-colored suit or stretchy shaped ballons--one that needs someone to help him get "bailed out." This is going to be my story when people point and stare.

A coat hanger and a Bic lighter.

Very nice....what kind of coat hanger the one without a bottom, or the one that has a bottom and you can slip a pair of pants or something underneath?

it's always great when someone puts enough thought into their costume to turn into more than a costume, but more like an actual character they play.

An abortion clinic?

Elvis_Christ 10-13-2008 03:04 PM

Not sure what I'll be dressing up as or if I will. My band's lined up for a Halloween show so it'll have to be something I can play in.... and something that doesn't make me look like Slipknot.

Festered 10-13-2008 03:07 PM

Forgive them Choptop, for they know not how they have forsaken thee!

I try...it was a thought and just wanted to see where it went. And the character thing? That's sounds like a good idea if I ever decide to make a horror film--with that character. Hmmm.

But yeah after being Bat girl, cat woman, princesses, power rangers, etc, I got kinda bored about the lack of individuality with costumes; I think that's the only bad thing about growing up in the 90s to me--we had so much access to stuff in terms of toys and costumes--we had parents get us whatever was "hot" not neccessarily appreciating the true value of their hard work getting it or the principle itself. So whenever it was "no longer hot" they would be disappinted--not b/c they stopped loving us as a parent--but more of a deeper reason.

As for me, there will probably be no Halloween parties for me this year... :( I have a couple of friends getting married on Halloween (not with a cool Halloween theme, either; the Hall was just 1/2 price on Halloween). Which SUCKS because the boyfriend and I came up with a FANTASTIC couple costume plan.

Oh, well. Maybe next year.

La Chat Noire 10-13-2008 04:50 PM

I'll most likely be stuck at work till about midnight, but afterwards the boy and I are going to a party. I'll be the deer hunter and he'll be the deer....I love any excuse to carry a gun :-D

the american way of handling problems....I love it

La Chat Noire 10-13-2008 04:55 PM

Haha...I'm not saying I'd ever use it...but it's nice to have the option :-P

jugchord 10-13-2008 05:04 PM

I'm gonna be a condom

Azazel005 10-13-2008 05:30 PM

It's pretty funny that I have been to so many halloween parties, considering I live in Australia and we don't actually celebrate halloween. I will use just about any excuse I can to dress up however. If one does come up this year, I will probably use the costume I used for a fancy dress party last year. This was "Rock Star Phantom of the Opera" oh if only I could play the black bass guiatar I was lugging around for the costume.

So I will cross my fingers for more dressing up oppurtunities!

it's choptop (older brother of "leatherface") from texas chainsaw massacre 2, which is a blast!
it kind of did an "evil dead/evil dead 2" thing, with the original being serious, and the second taking a turn towards the humorous and absurd.

you should check it out. lots of fun.
plus, dennis hopper is in it!

are you going to tell us what the costume idea is, or wait until you're actually able to use it?

The latter, of course. ;)

missmacabre 10-14-2008 05:54 AM

bf and I are going as 1950s greaser style frankenstein and bride. i just need to find one of those cheep "witch" wigs that are black and white to make into a beehive.

ferretchucker 10-14-2008 08:02 AM

Well, I have a freddy krueger outfit that would be great but I'm considering doing the joker if I go to a party, coz masks are SOOOO annoying at parties.

Roderick Usher 10-14-2008 08:38 AM

We just did a make-up test on my eldest last night, he's going as a Baseball Fury from THE WARRIORS - he's totaly obsessed with that film.

my kid is going as harry potter :p

lets just say i'm much more comfortable with him carrying around a little wand vs a baseball bat.

I did a quick application of make up to see what my joker outfit would look like. I didn't green my hair because...well, I don't have any green hair spray stuff. I think it turned out okay, but I'd love comments, especially about how to improve it.

So, Thoughts?

neverending 10-14-2008 01:39 PM

I would guess 25% of costumes this year are going to be The Joker.

50% if you just mean boys :)

ferretchucker 10-14-2008 01:55 PM

Yeh, but from talking to people I know, very few around my area will.

But...thoughts on my costume in particular?

Geddy 10-14-2008 01:58 PM

If I can get around to picking up the things I need for my costume, I'll be going out as Charlie Chaplin.

I actually really like it. It looks good. If you insist on going as the Dark Knight Joker go a step beyond what any kid with a clown makeup kit can do. Try making up a bubbly looking scar out of kitchen stuff for by your mouth. Sure you can find something on google. For your hair, Manic Panic makes a good temporary green gel. washes right out and looks just like the movie.

My advice though, change it up Buddy. Everyone is going as the Joker, so maybe go as a non-Heath Ledger Joker. Or go for a clean makeup look rather than the smeared makeup. Take some cues from the comics and just be original.

I wanted to do a scar but I can't find anything to do it with. They don't sell anything like liquid latex where I live. I think I'll be able to do the green gell.

And I might do the idea of a comic joker instead. I dunno, I'll look for some pictures I like and decide.

Ferox13 10-15-2008 10:35 AM

I was going as a Droog:

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...e_large_04.jpg

But I might be going to a Dead Holly wood stars party and my GF came up with an amazing idea:

I was planning as goign as Alex DeLarge but she came up with one way better.

We're going to a dead Holly wood Star party and She suggested: Fatty Arbuckle and Virginia Rappe..

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...x-Arbuckle.jpg

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...giniarappe.jpg

I think i need a bit of stuff to be Arbuckle though - A bloody champagne bottle shouldn't be too hard to find..

I'm willing to bet, unless its an older crowd or a really hip younger crowd, you will be spending most of the night explaining who you're suppose to be.

AUSTIN316426808 10-15-2008 12:07 PM

I usually alternate between The man with no name, The Joker, and The Phantom of the Opera. I believe it's The Phantom's turn.

amc420vt 10-15-2008 12:18 PM

i'm going as Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

Papillon Noir 10-15-2008 12:21 PM

If we end of doing anything (I usually host a party but we still haven't finished unpacking), I am going to be the Baroness from GI Joe (you know the movie is coming out next summer :p )

ferretchucker 10-15-2008 12:23 PM

I found something I can do the scar with. Dough!
