Things not to put into the microwave.

Yes. Some things you just don't. Like I put a hard-boiled egg in the microwave once to heat it up--it was peeled and ready to eat, except for the fact that it was cold--and I turned the thing on. 30 seconds later, POP! The whole thing just exploded leaving bits of egg all over the inside of the microwave. Bad idea.

Leprucky Cougar 10-13-2008 12:42 PM

Happened to me once. You'll live.

And metal spoonware....or anything metal for that matter. Same thing about not mixing bleach and ammonia together...but that's for another day.

Papillon Noir 10-13-2008 12:43 PM

Lead Crystal, another microwave don't--it will melt.

ferretchucker 10-13-2008 12:57 PM

Okay, you shouldn't put them in the microwave. But what about things you should?

Glow Sticks: They glow much brighter though they only last half as long. And they do leak if in for too long.

Crisp Packets: In a matter of seconds they shrink to less than a playing card.

Tin Foil: It makes cool plasma arcs.

A lit match under a glass: Makes a huge ball of plasma rise to the top of the glass and stay there. WARNING - The glass may smash.

crabapple 10-13-2008 12:59 PM

Jesus! All that stuff sounds dangerous and should not be attempted by anyone on Earth!!

I would put a Scotch Egg in, though, to see what would happen.

I do that often: doing stuff just to see what will happen. It doesn't always end "peachy."

La Chat Noire 10-13-2008 01:48 PM

I'll second the no metal thing. I melted my travel mug and filled the whole room with smoke, thus setting off my dorm's fire alarm.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 10-13-2008 01:53 PM

babies.

you'd think the microwave would be perfect to dry them off when they get out of the bath, but no.

:D messy lil fuckers

Despare 10-13-2008 02:04 PM

Marshmellows are a yes, puppies are a no unless you want some major clean-up.

Psycom5k 10-13-2008 02:16 PM

Distilled water. Regular water is fine but once you heat up the distilled kind, like if you are going to make tea, and you drop a spoon in the water it explodes. No lie, try if it you dare, but I warn you, wear protective eye and face gear. Hot boiling water doesn't much help the eyesight.

Elvis_Christ 10-13-2008 02:18 PM

Psycom5ks would be fun to watch spinning round in the microwave.

crabapple 10-13-2008 02:20 PM

Aha! Another thing to avoid trying. Thanks for mentioning this thing!

You can dry clothes.

I hate putting anything in the microwave except popcorn.

Vodstok 10-13-2008 03:37 PM

half of these posts have been on mythbusters. except for the puppy.

Pussies.

ChronoGrl 10-13-2008 04:01 PM

I put a thing of cream cheese in the microwave once because it was kinda frozen.

And then I realized that the little packet it was in was made of metal.

It started to smoke a little bit. I was at work at the time. Fun.

Elvis_Christ 10-13-2008 04:14 PM

Uh Oh Spagettio

Azazel005 10-13-2008 04:25 PM

I pretty much refuse to use a microwave, I just have an aversion to microwave food. Though the one thing that comes to my mind when I look at this thread...

Gremlins.

Jam those little bastards in there, two at a time if possible.

Aazzz, yeah baby:cool:

Phalanx 10-13-2008 04:48 PM

I don't have one at the moment - I only really ever used one to reheat things, keep sauces warm, or cook less-fat crispy bacon - something that can be done quite well with the right equipment.

I've often wondered how mercury would react...

Sparklers and matches catch on fire, I assume fireworks may explode.

Just felt like saying that I like putting packs of gummibears in the microwave, of course I empty them into a bowl first...they just melt together, you can either construct a super-gummi and refrigerate, or, you can eat it in goop stage. I like both.

Elvis_Christ 10-13-2008 05:20 PM

Haha that super-gummi sounds awesome. I haven't eaten shit with Gellatine in it for ages. I used to love that shit.

I have a couple of neighbors that have a particularly nasty little yappy dog... This might be an appropriate maneuver.

I'd love to watch the little bastard explode.

Stick pointy ears on it and tell them you thought it was a Gremlin... I can't say how anyone would be mad. Do they WANT to be over-ran by monsters from a Spielberg movie?

Freak 10-13-2008 09:21 PM

Put a bar of soap in the microwave. It's pretty cool what happens.don't know if it matters what brand you use but I used Irish Spring.

fortunato 10-13-2008 09:35 PM

one really fun thing to put in the microwave is a blank cd:

I think you made a typo there. The first word didn't really fit.

Sorry Chrono! Ripley won't be gremlinized by me! (Her mother did a good job of that giving birth to her).

SORRY! SORRY! They just keep coming out. I don't want my ugly insults to people to keep coming out! (That's what Ripley's mum said)

I'll stop. I'll stop. That last one was the worst yet. (That what Ripley's mum said after Ripley was born).

IT'S OVER! Sorry. I think I'll shoot myself now.

(I'll leave that one open for anybody else)

The microwave beeps the music out, then explodes, johnny-cab style.

Azazel005 10-14-2008 03:23 PM

I mean *really* anyone that tries to put someone named Ripley into a microwave is probably going to end up blasted out of an air-lock.

You haven't seen this monstrosity of a cat - with your Gremlin phobia, you would surely agree with Ferret.
