That Reminds Me

I don't know how well this will go over, but it could be interesting...Maybe even fun :p

Sometimes a movie will remind you of another movie...It could be because the movies are similar (same theme, same atmosphere, a similar title, etcetera)...Or it could be that it has an actor or a character that makes you think of another movie with that actor or similar character...The memory could also be personal, maybe you watched 2 movies on the same night, with the same person or as a double-feature (like at the drive-in), so one movie makes you think of the other...Sometimes we don't have any idea why a movie might makes us think of another one, but it happens

Anyway...This is how it's done

One person says '*movie title* reminds me of *movie title*...Then gives a reason why (if they HAVE a reason, if there is no reason, or you just don't want to explain, then don't give a reason)....The next person takes the last movie mentioned and says '*last movie title* reminds me of *movie title*'...and it keeps going from there

Example:

Start with Dreamscape

First answerer: Dreamscape reminds me of Nightmare On Elm Street

That's pretty self-explanatory...People being killed in their dreams

Second answerer: Nightmare On Elm Street reminds me of Sleepy Hollow

Johnny Depp was in both

Third answerer: Sleepy Hollow reminds me of Scanners

People lose their heads

The next person would start with 'Scanners'

I hope this isn't too complicated :)

If more than one person responds to the same thing, just go with the last movie you see mentioned at the time that you post your answer.

Kill Bill reminds me of James Bond 007

Both are movies that everyone talks about, but I haven't watched them...The action scenes I've seen (the girl in yellow) make me think of James Bond

Austin Powers reminds me of Trilogy of Terror II because I watched them both my freshman year in high school with my friend Martin.

Trilogy Of Terror 2 reminds me of Cat's Eye

The thing on the cover of Trilogy Of Terror 2 always makes me think of the little troll in Cat's Eye...And they are both anthologies

Posher778 10-12-2008 04:30 PM

Trilogy of Terror makes me think of Tomb of Terror, because they have similar titles.

Elvis_Christ 10-12-2008 04:31 PM

*nevermind* broke the game my bad :)

NOOO, it's fine...It happens...the next person just goes with the title they see last when they post.

It's all good :)

Tomb of Terror makes me think of Tomb Raider. It's pretty self-explanatory.

Tomb Raider makes me think of Raiders Of The Lost Arc

Raider, Raiders... ya get the drift holmes?

ChronoGrl 10-12-2008 05:22 PM

Raiders of the Lost Arc makes me think of Scrooged. I LOVE Karen Allen. She is such a sweet babe.

Elvis_Christ 10-12-2008 05:30 PM

Scrooged makes me think of Gremlins

because they were always both on TV during xmas.

Gremlins reminds me of Critters

Horror/Comedies from the 80s, with a bunch of funny little killy things

Also, one-word, 2-syllable, plural titles

Geddy 10-12-2008 05:53 PM

Critters reminds me of Return Of The Living Dead Part 2, because the first time I saw either of them, was on a double feature.

ChronoGrl 10-12-2008 06:00 PM

Return of the Living Dead II reminds me of Bad Taste. My current boyfriend introduced me to those movies at the same time.

The_Return 10-12-2008 06:10 PM

Bad Taste reminds me of Psycho - because they're both awesome movies that I fell asleep during upon my first viewing (through no fault of the movies themselves - I was just too tired!)

Geddy 10-12-2008 06:14 PM

Psycho reminds me of Nosferatu, because I saw both of them for the first time in my film class.

The_Return 10-12-2008 06:21 PM

EDIT - I was technically first, but the game seems to have progressed from Elvis's post.

I see how it is...no love for the penguin.... ;)

Elvis_Christ 10-12-2008 06:21 PM

Nosferatu reminds me of Vampyr

fortunato 10-12-2008 06:24 PM

rayne: this is a very neat thread

vampyr reminds me of eraserhead, as they're both dripping with atmosphere and focus more on the experience of watching than following a traditional narrative.

Eraserhead reminds me of Tetsuo - It's clear that Shinya Tsukamoto took a LOT of his inspiration from Lynch and I can't think of one of these films without immediately thinking of the other.

The_Return 10-12-2008 06:47 PM

Tetsuo reminds me of Akira - I think this one explains itself if you're familar with the latter.

Elvis_Christ 10-12-2008 07:02 PM

Akira reminds me of Ninja Scroll

first films like this I ever watched

Black Sunday Reminds me of Black Christmas

But, only based on the name...Black (of course), and Sunday is a holy sabbath day while Christmas is supposed to be a religious holiday

A Christmas Story reminds me of A Christmas Carol

Obvious reason

I absolutely loved A Christmas Carol when I was little...It was one of my first favorite ghost movies :)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029992/

Somehow it seemed 'spookier' in black and white

that is definitely my favorite version of the story, too, rayne.

a christmas carol reminds me of the nightmare before christmas, since they're both essential holiday viewing for me.

Sorry Doll, I have to use the other account to clean up after the stupid spammers, they seem to be relentless now, and as SOON as I sign into THIS account, they start again...So, I stayed on the other for a little while

I can ban them while I'm on this account (because the ban board is separate), but I have to switch to remove their stupid posts from here

Nightmare Before Christmas reminds me of Corpse Bride

Another obvious one...I love Tim Burton :)

Bub the Zombie 10-12-2008 10:23 PM

Corpse Bride reminds me of Evil Dead II.

Curiously, I can't get the thought of headless Linda prancing around the cabin out of my head.
