I don't see the Hype, do you guys?

Ok. So in the 60s & 70s there were the Beetles and Begees. Check. 80s maybe New Edition and New Kids on the Block. Check. 90s: Hanson. Check. Now: The Jonas Brothers. Guys, perhaps it's ok to compare them with these people but I think it's an insult to do so. I get the fact that they're cute. I agree. I get the fact that their hit "Burning Up" is catchy...it took me a while to think that, but after being in a dorrm where 3 doors down is a 16 year old girl who is OBSESSED with them, hanging posters up, singing songs, playing songs, drooling over them, saying she wants to have their kids, etc--I think that one song is catchy. But I really don't get the hype...this is almost like all the Zac Efron hype about HSM, Hairspray and now he's getting the lead role for the remake of Footloose.

What do you guys think? If there are JB fans here, help me out. I don't get it.

Comparing The Beatles to the fucking Jonas Brothers is blasphemy.
The The Beatles are legends!!! The 3 gay brothers will be forgotten.

I hope those cheese dicks get mauled by a pack of gorillas. :)

I thought so too...I thought it was insulting...but people are saying those groups I named before are like them of this generation.

Cheese dicks?

there will never be another Beatles.

the Police came close but they broke up before getting to that status.

thing is - there is too much diversity in music today for there to ever be another Beatles ..

the one thing they achieved (and the Police did briefly) was to appeal cross-generationally. these days there doesnt seem to be more than 100 people that agree on any one thing. these new kid bands come and go in the blink of an eye - only supported by young kids. by the time the 3rd album comes out - those kiddie band fans have grown up and moved on.

Well apparently their genre is pop-rock and have some rap in their tracks..so technically is that "cross-genre" maybe not cross generation, but they they released their second album in August, had a bunch of sold out concerts, and have a movie coming out soon.

I don't see the hype....so I agree with being conservative on their superstardom...

newb 10-07-2008 07:06 AM

TIME OUT.

I was a Spice girls fan in 1997....we had a group in school and imitated them...they were our idols....in 2008 I'm still a spice girls fan.....they recently had a reunion tour last summer and released a new greatest hits cd with their vids...

I doubt Jonas's will have fans 11 years from now--like they still do.

Posher778 10-07-2008 07:25 AM

I hate the Allman Brothers Band!

I picked The Jonas Brothers as the worst band of all time. :)

11 years from now there may well be a die hard JB fan making a similar post in a forum :)

I will....but I'm the woman...I'm never wrong. :) We're always right...even when we're obviously not. Men just need to accept it. Then things would go a lot smoothly.

You're welcome. A PM would've did the trick too.

You want me to pm you saying "Hi, are you a woman?"

Vodstok 10-07-2008 12:31 PM

I have spent many an hour in Disney stores because I have a little girl, and have literally become nauseous listening to the Jonas Brothers. It is amazing and appalling to me that people with so little talent can become insanely successful because they A. are willing to do it and B. were at the right place at the right time.

they are high up on the list of people i would like to kill with a hammer.

If before the past couple of comments, I would've taken no offense to it if you did. But even for small things like that, If I was curious and couldn't figure it out by the posts, I would pm the person and ask. But that's just me. I guess I'm weird. *Go back into hole*:o

Or C--their relatives were.

Case in Point : Aliana Lohan, Miley Cyrus & her brother, Hailey Duff, Jamie Lynn Spears.....

The Mothman 10-07-2008 01:47 PM

I've never even heard a Jonas Brothers song. I didn't know who they were until a few weeks ago. Ive got my head buried in the sand regarding this type of stuff, it doesn't interest me.

Have a younger sister or know anyone between 12 and 16? They can probably fill you in.

Jacky Fiend 10-15-2008 05:32 AM

Weren't The Jonas Brothers put together by the Disney Corporation to make money?

Pretty much, although in this case its like disney packaged a bunch of dog turds in candy warppers and passed it off as their version of snickers. They are completely without any redeaming qualities, and even if they were ground up and used as fertilizer, I would burn the crops that grew from them.

Does that properly express my contempt, or would you like me to elaborate? :D

Dante'sInferno 10-15-2008 09:46 AM

Die in a fire,Jonas Brothers.:)

*Sorry Chronogirl,i stole yo shit.:D :p

A little bit of humanity has just slipped away for me...

My 8 year old loves Ally and AJ.
The thing is, they actually have talent and their songs are very empowering.
You should check them out, I think they have about 3 albums out.

the rest of them, Hannah Montana, Drake Bell, Jonas Bros. etc is in our CD collection, so I did invest in a good pair of ear plugs.

Elvis_Christ 10-25-2008 05:18 PM

All I see is hype and it disgusts and insults my ears.

I think they're 16. 19, and 20

You know, I once had a guy tell me in a bar, that Michael Jackson will be remembered for the next 1000 years. Don't know about that, but he might end up getting sentenced to it.
