You'll never guess what I ate...
Yeah so... I've been hunting these past few days with my buddy. No turkeys around so we got annoyed and yesterday we had just had enough, no ammount of calling or decoys could get any birds near us. We switched hunting spots and saw nothing but a few squirrels.... infact there was 1 that wouldn't stop barking at us(we call it barking), so my buddy loses his temper, turns and aims at this squirrel up in the tree and BLAM! Down comes the squirrel. SO we gut him and skin him (and yes it was a him), threw on some garlic powder and salt and pepper, then grilled him up. And no lie, it tasted just like grilled chicken. So now... I have this insatiable hunger for fuzzy forest creatures...yeah not really. BUT i will eat squirrel again. If you get a chance to, try it, seriously.

I ate it one time a couple of years ago.I actually thought it tasted like turkey:)I have to say,i have witnessed the skinning and gutting.Poor lil things, they are annoying as hell though!

BRING IT ON MOTHERFUCKER.......THEY CALL ME ZWOTA...THE NINJA SQUIRREL

Good. Squirrels are freaks. I think they might be from space.
|
They are so cute though,i could never kill one.Its so sad to see them dead and all stiff...:( :(
|
They're definitely cute. The other day outside there was bunny on the lawn. Then, a squirrel came down from a tree, and the bunny saw it and apparently thought it was another bunny and started chasing it. It was so cute and funny watching the terrified squirrel fleeing from a curious little rabbit. But, there is something profoundly strange and unwholesome about squirrels. I think it's their tiny hands and that they should be called Pygmy Acorn Monkeys, regardless of their actual classification.

I have to say I have no objection to eating them but I'd never kill an animal for sport. But if it's dead, might as well make it's death for something and feed yourself.
BUT FUCK YOUR GREY SQUIRREL BITCHES! Sorry. But to be honest I hate grey squirrels. Thanks to the little wankers being brought in to England and breeding like mad, our native red squirrels are nearly extinct. Seriously, I know only one person that's ever seen a red squirrel now. The grey ones steal their nests and food. |
some of my best pals are squirrels

Squirrel-0 I'll try any kind of meat once.So I would taste Squirrel meat.Bring it on! |
I woudn't eat a squirrel...they're too adorable. Friendly minus the crazy "ghetto" ones with Rabbies. They're too small of an animal for me to consume...they're defenseless.
|
They can run and climb well. Not like these guys.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3264/...eaa7973877.jpg Thats exactly how we cooked it too. And Urge, this one was a dick. He deserved it. |
Squirrels are the Mascot for my College. They are cute and agile...but wimpy at the same time...I take it that's why we're suppose to call them "Fighting Squirrels;" but oh, the irony in that.
|
Squirrel is actually a good meat. It's often thrown into the 'southern backwoods' culinary category with opossum and groundhog.
The only thing is you need a few of them to make a good meal, or 'a whole mess of squirrel' if you will. If you cook it right, it's delicious. |

Just feel lucky nothing from Australia has come back. between sheep and rabbits the english damn near decimated large portions of that country (mice too). imagine if something like funnelwebs or bulldog ants decided england was a nice place to live. you would be begging for grey squirrels. for the record, i like squirrels and have no interest in eating any kind of rodent. |

the expression on his face makes me laugh too bad the squirrel is blurry - it was sitting on him, but he moves around too much so it grabbed a peanut and was jumping off when i took the pic. |
Hmmmm, I love how I try to make serious threads, and they die. Then I make a thread about eating squirrels and it thrives.
But yeah, those black squirrels look tastey. I'd love to see them on a bed of sauteed onions. :) |
serious threads arent any fun. (including mine)
i'm here for the fun. |
Oh I know, I was just pointing out something I found funny.

That was a gift! A gift for you! And I'm not annoyed at the grey squirrels being here, I'm annoyed at the fact that them being here is killing off our native squirrels. Apparently it's from a disease that they carry but only affects the red ones. |

Anyway, one of my co-workers living in country and is a big hunter and eats squirrel all the time. He likes it, but it tends to be on the gamey side. Personally, I don't think I could eat squirrel unless I was starving. |
