Need help with a very serious problem
 

Okay guys. I have a huge problem and have noone else i can turn to with it.

And just to guve a heads up this is a very sensitive matter

My roommate and I met when we were living in the homeless shelter last year. He loaned me his laptop from time to time to watch some of the movies he had downloaded. While I was perusing the files I came across a curious folder labled "Temp". Expecting some more of the same tye of movie I found something very distressing. I found bestiality and child porn. I gave him the benifit if the doubt (After all, I have downloaded some files that were mislabeled and it was some kiddie porn, wich I promptly deleted). Maybe he had forgotten about it I told myself and said nothing about it to him. He didnt act like a pedo or zooiphile, and often mocked someone we knew to be a pedo.

That was about a year ago. Now I got home tonight and I iwas searching through the history dropdown looking for a site I had puled up the other day and found a link to a bestiality forum where he had registered. I know his user name (he uses the same name everywhere much like myself).

Now I have a problem. Do I confront him. Ask him whats going on, try to get him help. If it comes out with the authorities for whatever reason, Im going to be associated with it by proxy. I love the man with all my heart and he has led a very screwed up and abused life, but this is almost inexcusable by any society standards.

I really need help and advice on this my friends...

I'd mention something to him before going to the authorities...talk to him about it. If he left it in the history of a shared computer, it seems like he's pretty much asking for someone to find it - perhaps he wants/needs help, but just doesn't know how to ask?

Rough situation though...hope everything works out somehow.

Well, it does sound like he's almost certainly involved in that kind of thing. He's your friend and it sounds like he does need friends, so don't go straight to the authorities. But you do have to think about yourself, as if they track it down, you'll be in deep shit too. Confront him about it, but make sure to be understanding. If the problem persists however, and you think it makes escalate from downloading this to something much worse, you have to do something serious.

The Temp folder, if I remember correctly, has everything that was downloaded in it. So he may have actually deleted the files before and just didn't know they were still in the temp folder. (I could be wrong though) I would definitely talk to him first.

Yikes......if he's a good friend I would confront him and try to get him help. If he got bellligerent then I would sever all ties. Not only is it illegal its pretty damn immoral.

The guy needs help, regardless of what you chose to do. I guess bottom line is, hopefully you can help him get it, in the end.

Now I might believe that some pictures in the windows temp file were leftover from a previous owner and he wasn't aware of them.

But there's no way in hell that you "accidentally" register for a bestiality forum.

Well it could be a misleading forum... Like horse lovers, or dog lovers or something.... but then again he would probably have gone through the forum to actually check it out first...

Though, I'd put the fear of god into him for the child porn.... thats just me though

Didn't know they had message boards for fucked up shit like fucking animals. I guess the authorities can keep an eye on what there up to.

I don't really have any advice on the matter but hit him up and see what the fuck he's into and take things from there.

You have two SANE choices

option 1: run away! you're no longer friends with this person. ignore his phone calls and forget about him.

option 2: accept him

I would say, delete the files, clear his cache and his history, wipe everything. See if he says anything, and check back to see if they mysteriously return (BTW, depending on the OS of the computer, "temp" doesnt hold the internet cache, it is where install files dump things to use "temporarily" during set up, and programs like winzip stick things for short term use, which makes it more suspect if that is where they are).

If they return, have a chat with him.

For the record, while beastiality is immoral as hell and illegal an act, i dont know the legalities around the porn, i would imagine that changes state to state. Child porn however, can get you a meeting with the FBI, and that gets hard time where people into that dont last long, so i would give this a try sooner rather than later.

If he gets caught with it, nothing short of physically destroying his hard drive will erase the evidence, so its time for an intervention.

What do you think is going to happen if you confront him? He'll just lie to you and get angry that you were looking through his stuff. Why everyone is saying "confront him" I just don't understand it....

you still have two options, #1 stop caring about it and #2 stop associating yourself with the person

Have the balls to at least mention it to them.
You should be able to have a basic idea if they're lying or not.
I mean hell, the "temp" folder? Sounds more like a contingency plan to have an excuse at the ready to me...
From that point onwards, what you do is up to you - I mean it IS an illegal act, and may in fact be the first steps towards even worse things/actions towards young people/animals, knowing that, it's not really someone I'd personally want to associate with any longer - further action is at your discression.
I'd assume that if reported, the authorities could keep an eye on him without him knowing it.

Personally, I think it's more than coincidental that BOTH of these types of things were on the one guys pc...seems like a weirdo...not everyone can be helped - some are just fucked in the head, as cool as you are with them, some people are just disgusting individuals - although you should know that my perception (most likely among others) is that, so are the friends that let their loyalty lead them down the garden path.

The problem with this situation is ..cos you have also seen those files
and i assume in ure own log on name which would automatically have you as an accomplice...you too could be pulled in for it.
DWM..if u havent confronted him already with it..my advice would be to do it now and if he gets pissed at u for being a good friend then fuck him.
Maybe he doesnt know what he has but i doubt that..em sure he does , seeing you have seen this file on more than one occasion.
As for how your going to handle it...really there is no other way to do it but by following your own instinct I suppose.
