Motel Hell

Do you guys agree that this movie has the coolest fuckin' chainsaw fight ever in it?

avenger00soul 01-22-2004 07:43 AM

Anyone chainsaw fighting while wearing a pig's head has big balls.

Evil Ash 01-22-2004 09:01 AM

Haha, I remember that scene. I was laughing at it's greatness.

Dr.Kelvinstein 01-22-2004 09:34 AM

I would agree that dueling with chainsaws while wearing pig's head is pretty nifty, but I'll still go for TCM 2---though I also dig the end of Last House.

Here's a horror factoid for you: Wes Craven got the idea for the chainsaw in Last House from the movie poster for the Rod Taylor/Jim Brown action flick Dark Of The Sun. It's sorta like The Wild Geese with a chainsaw fight. (And really, what movie couldn't benefit from the addition of a chainsaw duel?)

Elvis_Christ 01-22-2004 02:26 PM

Yep your totally right every movie would benifit from a chainsaw duel. The one in TCM2 is pretty fuckin cool I love Dennis Hopper in that movie I think its my favorite of the roles he played.

actually Craven was wanting to use something like a scapel or some kind of doctors utensil since the father was a doctor.. but noone liked that idea.. that chainsaw scene was fucking awesome...

ckyguy 02-05-2004 04:08 PM

crazy raplh 10-26-2005 05:25 AM

it was one of my favorites

Tikkin 10-26-2005 10:55 AM

Was? It IS one of my favourites. Absolutely loved it! A shame Tobe Hooper never got to direct it, could have been even beter. My favourite line is:

"You look good enough to eat"

Lorre 10-26-2005 01:30 PM

All kinds of critters make farmer Vincent fritters!

This movie was pretty cool. :D

I don't remember how or when I got this movie. It just appeared one day. Weird.

....can't be fucked repeating myself about the dope ass chainsaw fight :)

but yeh great film ranks among my favorite late 70s early 80s US hillbilly orientatated horror flicks along with Tobe Hooper's Eaten Alive, Deranged & Tourist Trap. So many classic moments in Motel Hell!

The Mothman 10-26-2005 05:24 PM

sounds like a good film.

gorefreak 10-26-2005 06:55 PM

This isn't the movie where when someone got killed the whole screen went red, was it?

Deffinately not! Ive seen a few where the screen goes red, Snowbeast (released by Vipco in UK) and Driller Killer.

gorefreak 10-27-2005 09:21 AM

No, there was a movie with a similar name.... "Motel (something) and it was horrible), almost zero special effects and totally boring.

gorefreak 10-27-2005 06:54 PM

Nevermind.... that was "Inn Of The Damned" I was thinking of.

knife_fight 10-27-2005 07:43 PM

LOVE IT

gorefreak 10-27-2005 08:31 PM

I hope you're not referring to "Inn Of The Damned". That was weak, retarded shit. No special effects, weak fight scenes.... I'd rather watch the crappy remake of "Psycho" again than to watch that garbage.

no mulier 10-28-2005 02:41 AM

It's good to hear many of you love this film. I watched this alongside Deranged and they make one hell of a movie-night duo.

From memory, it often feels like such a short film. But I enjoyed every minute of it. The best part being the hypnosis before breaking their necks where he talks to them about metaphysical out-of-body astral phenomena. :)

gorefreak 10-28-2005 04:33 AM

I think one of the local video stores has "Motel Hell". If it hasn't been taken off the shelf, I might just rent that one as well and give it a try. :)

crazy raplh 10-28-2005 07:22 AM

the first time Isaw this it was on up all night with Billy bob. he stated that the hillybilly woman was the type of woman who was the last one at the bar and your drunk and thought about taking her home

RavageRitual 10-30-2005 08:42 AM

I rented this movie not expecting much, but i was surprised at how creepy and flat out good it was, The pig head reminded me of Japanese Film "Gozu". Motel Hell is worth watching.

gorefreak 10-31-2005 04:40 AM

I might rent that one if it's in. Some of the horror films that don't rent well often end up in the sell section. And looks like I'm working today. I'll at least be able to rent a good 10 movies, not the usual 30 or so. :(

crazy raplh 10-31-2005 05:57 AM

wow are they a 5 day rental? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

gorefreak 11-01-2005 04:42 AM

I didn't even see "Motel Hell" on the shelf. I could've sworn they had it before. They either never had it or had it and it was put in the sell collection.

giallobelly 11-05-2005 03:33 PM

Cliff Clavin was THE BOMB.

lol Sorry, I missed that post, and I've been extremely busy for the last week. No, it's not a 5 day rental, although they do have it for regularly priced rentals. Most of the movies I rented were crap. I looked for scares and creepiness. Then if the movies are completely void of that, I hit fast-forward to look for gore. If there is little to none, I toss it out. :) Usually, out of the 30 or so movies, I'd come across maybe 3 to 5 that were actually tolerable to decent, and maybe 1 or 2 that were good to great.

Motel Hell creeped me out because of the "garden". Last year, I'm driving down the road to my house and see that someone bought a little piece of lthe hill to plant stuff and sell at a stand. Now everytime I come home I see little rows of things, some covered and I keep thinking people are planted up there with their tongues cut out. Eeeeee. And whodathought Rory Calhoun could be creepy and funny.

crazy raplh 11-27-2005 02:46 PM

the hillbilly lady is hot.

scottingraham 11-29-2005 03:27 PM

Been along time since I seen it but I do remember I liked it! Very creepy and good one to watch late at night with all the lights out!

deathcurse 11-30-2005 04:49 AM

Great movie. Dig Cliff Clavin as a rocker.
