Who's Made THIS Mistake?

Lending out your horror?...I was considering sending Mudsliptones my John Carpenter's "Vampires" movies, 1 and 2, when I remembered that I lent them out along with my "Grimm's Grimmest" book...and i haven't gotten them back...You would think that I would have learned my lesson after having to replace Stephen King's "Skeleton Crew" and Ramsey Campbell's "Influence", which, by the way was one tough mother to replace...but NOOOO...I just lent out Soul Reaver tonight...WTF???...Anyway, just wondering how much shit you guys have lost or had to replace because you "lent" it out...

predfan 01-18-2004 02:23 AM

i mainly watch my horror movies by renting videos, going to cinemas or watching em on tv, i dont have many dvds and videos...

meetthecreeper 01-18-2004 05:49 AM

I regularly by D&D monster manuals to get tattoo ideas and I just will admit that some of the artwork in the books are just fucking awesome. I lent this book out to someone, which is out of print, for them to get ideas for a graphic arts class, NEVER SAW THE BOOK AGAIN, SOB better be cremated with that book because if he is buried I am digging his carcass up and taking my book back. I also loaned out a Soundgarden CD still hasnt been returned, and I let an X borrow my tape collection you know like a CD case, got stolen out of her car, there goes $1000 plus dollars of Slayer, Megadeth, Overkill, Motorhead, Mercyful Fate and so on. TO THE SOB WHO STOLE MY TAPES, ENJOY THEM WHILE YOU CAN I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE MWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

bloodrayne 01-18-2004 08:59 AM

Well Creeper...It looks like maybe me and you are the only ones who don't know any better...I forgot to add that I also had to replace my Bachman Books...and Stephen King's "Desperation", twice.

Never ever ever do that again. If you want to lose D&D shit, ship it to me. :D

You'll understand this as well, Creeper

Every cool book on folk or high magic that I started with, was loaned and never returned. I had some cool ones too. It helps that I can't remember half their titles. Damnit.

Now, I don't loan people shit, especially my cd's or books.

Directing this thread back to the beginning.... Rayne, You need to pull some of that devourer of souls sorceress goodness out on the mofos that don't return your goods. Shake 'em up a little. I'm serious. There's nothing like an old fashioned, "If thou dost not return these my DVDS' I will smite thee....so one and so forth (Trans. If I don't get these back, I know where you live or I can find it in a hury).

Ritualistic 01-18-2004 09:15 AM

I lent out some books to a friends many years ago, and never saw them again.. Just a few months ago I go to her new house and I see them on the self.. WTF i grabbed them and told her thanx for giving them back ha ha.. Hmm well I dont lend out nothing of mine. I dont even like other people driving my vehicle. But My mother lent out some movies of mine to my brothers ex-g/f one years back and I have never seen them since. Man I was pissed

LOL...Thanks Haunted...That's excellent advice, but don't think that I haven't already thought of that...unfortunately, most of my "borrowers" are family members...Gotta keep the peace...So...Whatcha gonna do????

bloodygurl02 01-18-2004 02:48 PM

i lent out a couple cds and cassete tpes to my friend and she said she would return them in a week or so. i got them back a yr later. and i let my ex boy friend sister borrow a couple cds and she also said i will have them back to u next week well a month went by and i asked for them back and she gave me an attitude but i got them back and i don't let her borrow my things any more. i don't let ppl borrow stuffunles i know i will get it abck when they say they will return it. latley my friends has been good about returnign my stuff

billbundix 01-18-2004 06:08 PM

whenever things like that happen it is for a reason. we never really own anything. if you dont believe me just wait a while and whatever you like the most will disappear. in my opinion, books, music, etc... will go wherever they are needed the most at the time. its kind of a karma thing. its like when you lose something, and you think you really need it, and then a week later you find it and realize you didnt need it as bad as thought. imo:)

Wicked Lady 01-18-2004 06:36 PM

OMG! Don't get me started!

I lent my favorite Goosebumps books to an ex friend when I was 10, and he kept saying that "he lost them"or "they were in storage" either way I never saw them again, he also borrowed a Nintendo Power magazine, brought it back in a week, "after he destroyed the cover" and borrowed it again the next day.....guess what, I NEVER SAW IT AGAIN....My ex friend Tanna, "accidentally" took my Donkey Kong game in her Game Boy, and kept it, along with the Final Fantasy game she stole from me

Sam The Egg 01-18-2004 07:56 PM

I loan out movies, yeah. But I think about who I'm loaning it to, first. If it's someone I know I'll get it back from, I'll just loan them the movie. If it's someone I doubt I'll get it back from, or if it's a teacher, I'll copy the DVD so they can just keep it. If I loan something, I make sure I get it back, having learned my lesson from the 'Realms of the Haunting' loaning.

bloodrayne 01-19-2004 01:13 AM

So kids...Have we learned anything here?

Elvis_Christ 01-19-2004 02:34 AM

Yeah I've lost heaps of stuff by "lending it out" I'm missing my Cannibal Apocalypse, The Burning and Frankenhooker videos at the moment :( hopefully I can track the people down.

mudsliptones 01-19-2004 05:17 AM

you seriously wante to send me those movies?????
how sweet of you

but i think it would be allot cheaper if i just went out to a local store and hired them
but i saw them, i know wich ones they are now

anyway, when i was a kid I was a huge indie jones fan, I had temple of doom and last crusade on tape
only one muissing was raiders of the lost arc
now, they gave it on the TV, I taped it and my uncle asked me if he could see it, so i gave it (I was just a kid)
NEVER saw it back, and believe it or not, it took over 5 years till they gave it back on the TV!!!!!!

I never lend out stuff, only to people i see on a regular base, like my GF, off course, her brothr, members of my musicband
but to no one else!!!!!!!!!!
I sometimes say no to them, when it concerns mùovies like battle royal and evil dead wich took me allot of money and effort to get them in my collection

bloodrayne 01-30-2004 04:45 PM

I just remembered that my John Carpenter's "Vampire's" 1 and 2 were lent out as well as Stephen King's "Needful Things"...Damn, I have to stop doing that

Cerberus 05-02-2004 11:30 AM

No problems here. I don't lend out my stuff. I KNOW better.

McDonnyDude666 05-02-2004 12:01 PM

I only lend stuff out to people who I can trust to keep it in good condition.Theres only about 6 people I will lend stuff to.

jay o2 waster 05-02-2004 12:34 PM

did you lend them out to people through the mail

Sam The Egg 05-02-2004 12:52 PM

I also won't lend out some of my stuff. Ask to borrow, say, Tremors, and I'm fine with it. But any of the Scorsese movies, MST3K DVD's, or some (most) of my other movies, and I'll either offer to copy it for you at some vague point in the future or just say no, depending on what you want to borrow.

jay o2 waster 05-02-2004 12:59 PM

can i borrow your house? Please? I promise i won't scratch it

Targangil 05-02-2004 04:07 PM

My brother has my Deep Space Nine season 3 DVDs and a bunch of movies, but don't worry, I'm holding his Farscape videos to ransom.

orangestar 05-02-2004 07:13 PM

I dont rent out my horror, just my others. Im like you, Targangil. My brother has my Forrest Gump so Im holding Family Guy DVDs hostage.

Rotting Eye 05-02-2004 07:42 PM

I lent out my vibrator to Evisc, and I still haven't gotten that mother back.

Usually I don't lend shit out, because I know too many people that have lost their stuff. If I do I'll only let them borrow it for a day, then I'll get it back, even if they're not dong with it muuwhwhahaha.

I think I've lost some pencils, and other minor items, over the years, but nothing major. Suckers

evil_blonde 05-02-2004 10:09 PM

i dont own any decent movies (harry potter..? LOTR...?)
only kiddies movies which arent mine

.....so i cant really lend stuff i dont have

people have asked me to borrow stuff adn i never get around to giving it to them

i lent my Misery book to this bitch last year but she was such a dumbass she couldnt even finish it and she gave it back

You should make that trade final.

Family Guy > Forrest Gump

Do people just not read my posts? I can't understand it.

Nowhere did I say I didn't like Forest Gump. I actually really enjoyed that movie. I just happen to like Family Guy better.

Understand now? Or having further problems?

btw, there's nothing wrong with retards.

bloodrayne 08-13-2004 05:34 AM

Well...Now I have lent out (lost/given away) Phantoms...Little Nicky...and Corky Romano (these last two are/were Demon Seed's)

*sigh*...Guess I'll be checking eBay for replacements:rolleyes:

ShankS 08-13-2004 05:42 AM

i'm too protective of my vhs and dvds now. Use to lend em out...either didnt see them again or got them back with dodgy screwed up tape, or the disk had scratches on it.

the only people i'll lend to is my brothers.

ah... you just never learn your lesson, huh bloodrayne ! :p

my dvd's and cd's are my babies. and IF i am stupid enough to lend them out, i'm all over the person because of course, now that they're gone, i want to either watch/listen to them ( yup... i'm a pain in the ass ! what ? ) so i just stopped altogether ! better for my mental health, and especially their's ;)

Stingy Jack 08-13-2004 02:38 PM

Man, this thread has really put a chap in my ass.

YES I have lent out shit that 1) I never saw again; 2) saw again, only MUCH later; 3) saw again, only it was so beat to shit I didn't want it back. This has happened to me SEVERAL times!

I even tried to systematize my lending. See, I'm the type of guy who wants to share his shit, just so he can pass on an experience to someone else. So, after being a burned a couple of times, I decided to make a "sign out" list. Friends would write their name on the list, the item they borrowed, and the date they borrowed it. This way, I could keep track of where my shit was and how long, exactly, it had been missing.

But this crap didn't work either. I still got shit back in bad shape, or the people I lent the thing out to lost it or something.

Now, I don't lend out ANYTHING! Seriously. If someone wants to watch a movie or something, I make them sit at my house and watch it. If they want a book, I'd sooner go out and buy them a copy than lend it to them. This has led to some people actually trying to lift stuff from me. Whenever I have my good friend down from Jackson, I always have to check his duffle bag before he leaves to make sure he's not about to smuggle out any of my crap. It's ridiculous. My wife, even though she knows this about me, offered to lend one of her employees my copy of Aswang! I offended the guy when I vehemently refused, but hey ... fuck him.

People just don't realize that the stuff you lend them has a LOT more meaning to you than it does to them, and they treat your shit accordingly. I can't stand it.

Which reminds me, I need to return this copy of Un Chien Andalou to somebody ... he's probably missing it. Need to clean the soda off it first, though.

same here

bloodrayne 04-14-2006 10:39 AM

Dammit!!!

I am missing the following movies (at least these are the ones that I am AWARE of) :

Needful Things
Cube
Cube Zero (but, I just bought another copy)

And yes, I HAVE learned my lesson....I did NOT lend these out....It would seem that Seri's friends have lost them...

The last time I saw Needful Things on my shelf, was when Seri said, "Hey, Shane hasn't seen that one yet"...

Why don't they lose the ones that I can easily replace?

hammerfan 04-14-2006 10:47 AM

I learned the hard way not to lend movies out, especially to family. I loaned Aliens and An American Werewolf in London to my cousin, who loaned them to a friend who promptly "lost" them.

Yeah...This is a point that I can't seem to get across.....How can you lend something out, if it isn't even YOURS???

I know you do :)... And...This thread reminded me that I still haven't replaced 'Phantoms'....I did, however, end up with 2 copies of 'Sphere' because I replaced one, and then eventually got it back....Irritating....

hammerfan 04-14-2006 11:10 AM

This doesn't have anything to do with this thread, but........

I was a bad girl with my credit card yesterday - I bought all 7 seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer off Amazon for $140.00! I can't wait to get them and, no, I will NOT be lending them out!
