Are you an athiest?

I've recently read that the number of athiests in the country has increased dramatically over the past year. Is this true?

Where are the athiests?

I personally am still questioning everything. It's one of those things where I just don't think I'll ever know. Maybe this topic doesn't belong here, so feel free to move it / close it!

Just thought I'd raise the question!

I also don't think there's anything wrong with being an athiest... nor do I think there's anything wrong with having a religion... I'm just curious to see how many of you are athiest.

Posher778 01-22-2008 08:09 PM

Christian..

fortunato 01-22-2008 09:22 PM

not an atheist.

Phalanx 01-22-2008 10:05 PM

I don't endorse or choose one religion over another.
I have a value system that I follow, and if that's not good enough for whatever "god" there may or may not be, fuck them.

Roderick Usher 01-22-2008 10:11 PM

Militant Agnostic...
I don't know and neither do you:)

but I know a LOT of atheists if you're simply wondering where they are... they're all over

Psycom5k 01-22-2008 10:20 PM

Agnostic here

sickfish 01-23-2008 03:14 AM

Believer !

I believe that the Universe and all the energy contained in it , which is in some way connected , is what us mere mortals term "God"

I don't think the Christians should have the consensus on that definition .

God is NOT some white-bearded homophobic psychopath who gets angry when He doesn't get his own way . That was "Moses" and his militaristic prose to his sheep-herding audience .

I like the Church of the Flying Spaghetti-Monster , a perfect counter to the inbred Creationists amongst us .

That was a great generalization......?

sickfish 01-23-2008 03:30 AM

hey ?

which bit was a generalisation ? That ALL creationists are inbred ?

They ARE , according to their own myth . Adam , Eve , Cain , Abel ... who fucked who to create the human race ?

AUSTIN316426808 01-23-2008 04:00 AM

I'm an agnostic, who somewhat tilts in the direction of believing.
I don't follow a religion. I just live how I feel is right and don't impede others from doing so.

hammerfan 01-23-2008 04:33 AM

I'm a Christian.

For the folks who aren't sure/don't know what to believe: that's why it's called "faith". I don't think there will ever be hard evidence that God and/or Jesus does/did exist. For my own part, I choose to believe. I DO NOT believe in a vengeful God. The God I believe in is loving, caring, and tries to show His children the way. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't - that's called free will. I don't put down people who don't believe - that's their choice. Neither will I get all preachy (the folks who know me here can testify to that) and quote scripture to you. If you're a good person with a kind heart, that's enough for me.

Despare 01-23-2008 09:54 AM

Non-denominational Christian here. You would almost assume (especially sickfish since he/shee is so good at assuming) that more people in a horror forum would be atheist though.

jenna26 01-23-2008 10:10 AM

No, not an atheist, my grandfather apparently had too much of an influence for that (he's a preacher, and also happens to be one of the least judgemental, kindest people you could hope to meet). I don't have all the answers, no one does, and I have a lot of questions, but I do believe in God, or a higher power. I don't attend church, and I don't ever see myself being involved in any kind of organized religion though.

I'm not a practising Christian, but I do vote with the RADICAL religious right........just to piss off the LOONEY left!:)

Haha, my argument for years.

As for what I am, I am not a person to really discuss my religion, simply because I think it brings no importance to anyone else's life. And I do not like getting in religious disputes with people, because I have my own view, and you can't change it. And I'm sure most of the board agrees with that about their own beliefs.

massacre man 01-23-2008 06:05 PM

I'm nothing, not sure if there's a word for it, if so please correct me. I don't really do anything that would be considered "sinful" by most religions, anyway. Except swear.

So... nothing to stand for no way to fall? You should at least be proud enough to state whatever you believe, even if you worship the hedgehog.

SEEEEEEGGGAAAAAA (In that female voice from the Genesis days). :p Sorry, that hedgehog comment made me think of my old friend Marshall. He was really into Sonic.

I have kind of my own beliefs. They don't really fall into any other category. Not to my knowledge anyway.

ghostess 01-24-2008 11:35 AM

I do not believe in any type of God or higher being. I don't knock anyone else's beliefs either. I live my life right, and that should be good enough. ;)

Disease 01-24-2008 11:37 AM

I'm an agnostic, but i still think that comment was uncalled for. I know a creationist, and if you check your facts, you'd find out there were other women and men after adam and eve. They were the main two mentioned. Think about it, God disagrees with inbreds and wanted to make a species. If he can make a universe, he can realise that wouldn't turn out well. Oh, and Mrs. Garrison isn't always right.
