Friday th 13th not a remake

Friday the 13th "Not a Remake"!
Source: ShockTillYouDrop.com
November 28, 2007

Platinum Dunes' Friday the 13th project. What do you lable it? Remake? Re-launch?

After speaking to a source close to the project who wishes to stay outside of the spotlight (for now), we're striking the former term out of future reports on the film.

"It's not a remake," says our insider. Don't even expect an origin tale - as some production listings around Hollywood are pegging it as. Imagine if there was a story to be told somewhere between parts two and four, just add water (from Camp Crystal Lake, duh), insert a leaner, meaner, faster Jason Voorhees, set to "blend" and you've got the recipe for what Dunes, writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift and director Marcus Nispel got cookin'.

Yellow Jacket 11-28-2007 01:34 PM

So it's kind of like Superman Returns, where it picks up in between two previous sequels. I like that idea.

roshiq 11-28-2007 09:16 PM

WaW! that's a good news. Hopefully it'll be a great comeback for Jason Voorhees...my all time favorite horror icon.:)

TomBeTom 12-13-2007 06:37 AM

It can't get any worse than "Jason X," so they might as well go for it. I like the idea, too.

That's my favorite in the series:D

Would that make it part 3 then? :)

To be honest, Jason X is a guilty pleasure. It was stupid, but fun (like most of F13 films) And it sure as hell was better than that awful Jason Goes to Hell. I felt as if I was in hell while watching that movie.

The Vault of Horror 12-13-2007 08:03 PM

As a comic book fan, I'm viewing this as "Ultimate Jason"--a streamlined, outside-of-continuity version of the character.

Totally agree with you. JGTH was worst of the series. I think it genuinely worth to win the title of "Worst sequel of all time."

I also agree JGTH blows. I had the displeasure of seeing it in the theater. It's NOT even Jason ...it's a damn worm, WTF!!!!
Pt. 8 Jason Takes Manhatten was equally as worthless.

Another member of the Jason Goes to Hell: It was Hell club. Anybody else want to join?

ManchestrMorgue 12-17-2007 05:42 AM

I thought Jason Takes Manhattan was much worse than Jason Goes to Hell

That is kind of what Jason x was....

I liked all of them.. Even bad Friday the 13th movies are good ones for me.

Of course there are some that stand out as great ones, but fuck it, what ever, just give me more!

ferretchucker 12-27-2007 01:40 PM

it should be a good enough watch and as long as they keep the weird kill kill kill kill die die die die I should be happy.

I do. I want Platinum membership with the keychain and sweatshirt. I liked Takes Manhattan, although I wish he'd spent more time in Manhattan, and possibly run into Woody Allen. The Muppets took Manhattan more than Jason did. There was too much of that boat bullshit.

ferretchucker 12-29-2007 02:18 AM

I've got an excellent idea. Michael Myers gets frozen and sent to the future. He's cooking a meal when the oven blows up and he's nearly killed...except he's near a repair machine. He becomes Michael Y. Jason, who at this point is low on cash, delivers the milk, but when Michael tastes it, it's sour. They do a benny hill type chase scene which ends with them somehow getting on a space ship. Then...they fight.

i really liked JX until it embraced its silliness too much (with the holodeck Jason smashing the chick in the sleeping bag) - Jason was always silly but you can't make it too obvoius you are trying to be campy

What scared me about Jason was that he was a slow moving lurch who you still couldn't escape no matter how fast you ran. I won't complain though, a new friday the 13th movie couldn't be any worse than any of the others. :p

LMAO......:p

I've never been a huge Friday the 13th fan (and personally believe the first one to be mostly dull and overrated, though they were a couple of cool death scenes), but most of them are fun. Jason Goes to Hell really is pretty awful though.
As far as the remake (or whatever the hell it is) goes, it might be okay. I'm not expecting much. But I never do. :)

crazy raplh 02-18-2008 03:13 PM

I am kinda excited about this it looks like it might be ok I thnk I wonder if Kane will play Jason again. www.fridaythe13thfilms.com still says there is noe crew but want to start filming in april or something wants to be done in 2 years febuary 13th 2009

ferretchucker 02-20-2008 06:59 AM

So...yeh, is this thing set in mordern day or in between some of the others or what. Too many rumours flying around!

T-Rack 02-24-2008 03:07 PM

I hope it is not a remake, I'm getting tried of them.

rasobasi420 03-01-2008 10:36 AM

This sounds a little like the Wildstorm comics of Jason, but only in that it takes place at a random time in the history of Jason, and only at a time where Jason isn't incapacitated between flicks.

The thing is, will he have his hockey mask? He only picked that up in pt 3, but if he doesn't have it, he's not Jason. It's just that simple.

Kane_Hodder 03-02-2008 09:45 AM

I hope it turns out to be a good watch.

crazy raplh 10-09-2008 07:33 PM

there is a preview out on youtube.

The_Return 10-10-2008 04:33 AM

Looks like the Texas Chainsaw remake with a hockey mask.

n3wt 10-16-2008 05:17 AM

Im so looking forward to seeing this, im a massive fan of the series and this is HOPEFULLY going to rule. Just hope they dont mess it up and try to bring comedy into it, just like a certain "Terminator 3"

Oh, I'm sure I will as well.

Despare 10-21-2008 07:08 PM

I saw the preview during the Scream awards, damn Jason's quick at the end.

Nella 10-21-2008 10:58 PM

My favorite movie of the series is The Final Chapter, however, I liked Kane Hodder being Jason and I didn't like A New Beginning as it wasn't about Jason, really.

I'd like to join the Jason Goes To Hell: It was Hell club. I thought the movie was a total flop and it pissed me off. I don't like the title anyway because my son's name is Jason and the film came out when he was only 5. I was afraid to let him see or hear that title.

I've seen the whole series and the remakes of The Hitcher, Halloween, and TCM so I'll probably watch the new film.

I always thought it was ch ch ch ch ha ha ha ha. I really do need subtitles! I think the score is creepy and I like it nonetheless. I agree with Ferret.

EDIT: I didn't care for Jason X.

illdojo 10-23-2008 08:45 PM

For anyone who cares the official site is up.......http://www.fridaythe13thmovie.com/

Actually he did run in the first few films he was in, I don't think it was until zombie Jason (part 6) that he suddenly could just walk and all of sudden be there right behind you or in front of you.....:p

I don't think it looks TOO bad. I will give it a watch.

Eat Horror 10-24-2008 09:49 AM

I'm worried it's going to be terrible but have to watch it

Not sure about the look of Jason

im so fukn excited about this movie...i have been looking up as much as i could about this movie....the trailer is good too...can't wait to see it. I am almost as excited as I was when I found out halloween was being remade by the infamous Rob Zombie

monster123 10-28-2008 07:39 AM

I dont like the fact he runs in this movie. I always enjoyed the cheesiness of him walking and still being able to kill all his victims.
