movie that really, truly terrified you
i was just wondering:
what is a movie that really, honestly terrified you and why? i watched "funny games" for the first time around eight years ago, and it really shook me up badly. i guess just the coldness of the characters, probably also the fact that i was only 13. so what about the rest of you? |
The Village and Basic Instinct. Left me stunned and recovery took weeks.

What about Showgirls? |

And then went insane for a year. |

I'm sure the actors did the same... |

Eye candy doesn't make a bad movie better... Didn't do anything for me. (DOWN BOY!!!) |
there is 3 movies, one is killer clowns from outerspace, it terrified me, and i will never watch it again. The second is the ring, this movie had me sleeping with the lights on for 3 months and at night when i was sleeping or not using the tv, it had me so parinoid and uneasy i would put a towel or sheet over it, and if the tv ever went to a channel with the static screen and white noise i would flip out, panic and turn off the tv scared to put it back on. so yes im a parinoid person. lol

I watched Time Bandits and Never Ending Story when I was real young...Time Bandits was just so wierd I didnt know what was going on and was constantly afraid midgets were gonna break into my room and push the wall back. The wolf in Never Ending Story was just too much for me, and I always thought that big flying dog would eat the main character. Nevertheless, I watched the hell outta those movies.
Also when I was young I watched an Unsolved Mysteries episode about a haunted house. There was a ghost kid who would bounce a ball against a wall, and the people would hear it. Well, later on that night my dad decided to wake me up by bouncing a tennis ball against my door. That fucked me up for a long time, but in the most delightful way. |

"Jaws" is most likely the only movie that had a long lasting effect on me.I live in New England so beaches are readily available to me and when that movie first came out I was just a teenager of 17......every time I went into the water that fucking music would be playing in my head.....duh duh....duh duh.....duh duh duh duh duh duh duh da....do da doo http://dvd.blogs.sapo.pt/arquivo/jaws.gif |
I've never been ''truly terrified'' by a movie but The Exorcist is the only movie that's really gave me a chill.
|
some times the excorsist scares me. not always, it depends on my mood. any movie with clowns tvs or mirriors scare me.

And that Gmork character in Never Ending Story fascinated me when I watched it the first time. "If you come any closer, I ll rip you to shreds!" |

Hehehe I liked that movie. |
The neverending story KINDA had me uneasy in some parts.
I remember NOES1 and the first hellraiser were the ones that had a lot of ongoing nightmare related impact as a kid...I was maybe 6-7 when I saw them both... Critters, although laughable now also got to me. Probably the two that freaked me out most though, were *invaders from mars...kinda like the kids equivalent to bodysnatchers... *Almost a tie with the lake scene in whatever creepshow movie had that one. |

The Exorcist,The Exorcist 3 and The Town that Dreaded Sundown. All three gave me the creeps!
|
The Exorcist definitely creeped me out a bit when I was younger. Also when I was about 5, Sssssss, yeah the crappy one with Dirk Benedict...
|
Pumpkinhead did it for me.
AND,Showgirls of course. |
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for me. I think I might have mentioned this in three other threads......but it was the only film that I tried to watch but just couldn't finish until I was sixteen, it bothered me so much. And its now one of my favorites, of course.
A Nightmare On Elm Street and The Exorcist are two others one that creeped me out pretty good. |
Oh oh, I've given this a lot of though and my answer is "Misery" with Kathy Bates. Now, I have a fear of Kathy Bates to begin with but the idea of being trapped by a person is so terrifying. Even in relationships, I don't want to feel like my actions are based on another human being making it impossible to escape if I wanted to.

SSSSS was a scary one too with Strother Martin & Dirk benedict. This one turns a human being into a snake. However, Kingdom Of The Spiders shivered me down to my bloomers. Seeing those hairy tarantulas everywhere and with the actors having them all around them. I had to change my bloomers after that one! I was checking for days to make sure none were crawling up under my skirt! Whew! The Countess |

That's The Entity.
|
A Nightmare On Elm Street Scares me whenever I watch it, so does the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Some others are It, and Zelda from Pet Semetary freaked me out too, I guess that's about it.

I always thought "The Entity" was more erotic than scary.Maybe I need to watch again? |
