HIGH FIVE

AmericanManiac 08-28-2007 04:19 AM

I haven't made it very far, but so far i'm very impressed with this game. Graphics are great, and the gameplay is unlike any other FPS. For me it's very tough game, I always play through hard first time around, it gives me more entertainment that way.

Vodstok 08-28-2007 09:43 AM

I am counting the days until september 7th....

That is when I will be getting my first paycheck from my new job....

And that is when I will be purchasing Bioshock.

I have to say, I am thrilled to have played the demo, both because it kicks ass, and because i was able to clear up some video card issues that would have made me cry if i had been playing the full version.

Freak 08-28-2007 06:24 PM

I just picked this up tonight. It is an amazing game.At first when I played the demo I wasn't that into it.But now that I have had a chance to really sit down and play it I think i might be in love.

Same here, I played the demo and couldn't get into it. That changed though once I popped in the disk :D

Vodstok 08-29-2007 04:59 AM

I guess I am in for a real treat, because I adore the demo. I have been waiting for this game for over a year now. I hope my pc can handle the directx10 mobile geforce cards when they come out, because i want to play it in all of it's shiny, directx10 (In SLI hopefully) glory.

Phalanx 08-29-2007 05:34 AM

Looks like a pretty sweet game, that's a given.
However, I have a friend who purchased it for X360 just last week and finished it within 3 days of purchase...So, seems to me that the game, while it may be great and look stunning is a little too short...
I'm all for replayability, but I'd personally be pissed off it ended so quickly.

I'll probably check it out all the same, but first I'll probably hold out for Crysis, Timeshift, SW:FU before I check bioshock out.

AmericanManiac 08-29-2007 06:26 AM

That's my problem usually when I wait for a game, I pick it up first thing in the morning and I don't stop playing it until I beat it. IE: GRAW 2, it took me about 10 hours, (hard diff.) First day beat it, I was mad. Since i'm in the middle of moving and still doing some improvements to the house, it's hard for me to game like that right now. I as well bought it for the 360, you should be hooked on it though Vod, should be alot of fun, and I hope it works for you as well, enjoy!

Vodstok 08-29-2007 09:14 AM

i get about 30 minutes every 2 or 3 days to play anything, so it will; probably take me a month to complete :)

Freak 08-29-2007 07:03 PM

I'm having a hard time putting Bioshock down. It's just so damn fun to play.It should last me til Stranglehold comes out at least.

AmericanManiac 08-31-2007 04:45 AM

I had the day off yesterday, so I got to play more than half hour in a sitting, I played it for about 4 hours. I stopped and wanted to go back to playing it, it is on of the best entertaining games i've played in awhile, Single player anyways.

Freak 08-31-2007 09:54 AM

This is one of the few games were the single player is so good it makes up for not having a multiplayer.

Vodstok 08-31-2007 11:05 AM

I will be surprised if 2k boston doesnt release the source code eventually... Can you imagine the mods people would make out of a game like this?

1 week from today, my night will be filled with bioshock, beer, and burgers :)

100% Agree with you

This game really does test your moral fiber. I can't bring myself to "harvest" a little sister.

I'm just doing in now so I can get as much Adam as I can.I'll do another play through and save them all this time.

AmericanManiac 09-04-2007 04:33 AM

Alright, I just picked up a HDTV the other night and this game is even more entertaining. It looks amazing and I can't believe I went this long with out gaming in HD. Yesterday I played for about 4 hours, I haven't harvested any little sisters yet as well, that's just mean! :D

scarecrow666 09-05-2007 11:04 AM

I've played it a bit now and rescued one lil sister and harvested another one......But for some strange reason i still seem to be drawn to Call of Duty 2.

AmericanManiac 09-06-2007 05:14 AM

Almost at the end of the game....... love it!!

Vodstok 09-07-2007 05:41 PM

Just bought it and i am having a hell of a time getting it to run....

This is what happens when a developer is told the tools necessary to run their game will be ready by launch time, and they aren't....

Ouch, sorry man. That is why I don't like to game on a PC, I used to play them all the time, no great games (myth, Doom, Quake) :D Haven't seen you in awhile I thought you were hooked on it.

Vodstok 09-10-2007 03:29 AM

Nope, I was fighting to get the damn thing working....

I have found a work around, and I am just about to fight steinmann in the medical pavillion. That place is just damn freaky.

ManchestrMorgue 09-10-2007 04:25 AM

So what was going wrong to stop it working for you?

Vodstok 09-10-2007 04:40 AM

The game begions to launch, then i get the error "bioshock.exe has stopped working", and that is it. I have scoured 2kgames' and steam's forums for fixes, and have found things that work once (reinstall steam and move the steamapps folder out and then back in after the install, reinstall the c++ runtime) but nothign works long term., the game runs, then doesnt work the next time i launch it,a nd i have to start the whole thing over.

Not to mention the game sound stutters BAD with asll the bells and whistles turned on.

But i will take the sound issues, the game is beutiful with the toys turned on.:)

Might be a card problem. The game has some steep requirements though.

I had read a review of the system i bought that said the cpu acts as a bottleneck on some games, which is a bit disappointing (especially for $3000....), but even though its a laptop, i can get a second nvidia card for it and set up SLI, its just amatter of time before i have the money for it. That should improve things :)

newb 09-18-2007 06:36 PM

This is becoming one of the best games i've played in a long time.
