After Rocky Balboa...its John Rambo!
May 13, 2007
Stallone talks about the upcoming John Rambo in an Italian mag (translated) :- The film is about a restless veteran of Vietnam with a budget that is approximately $50 Million and produced by John Thompson. "RAMBO was presold all over the world," Thompson tells..."We found an intact interest for this character/maladjusted person who is much more than a machine of war", he states during a break looking at the sequence that is hardly finished. Its director, Sly Stallone, with a Cuban cigar in his lips, says: "During the years where my phone never rang...I thought -with pain and resignation- that for me as actor it was finished. I felt that Rocky and Rambo had the capacity nevertheless to boost me. The success of my last Rocky film offered Rambo a second life. I reshaped the last adaptations and I wondered, what is the current war today which goes by most unnoticed and that which immortalizes genocides and violence and creates maladjusted persons, rebels, mercenaries to summarize the wreck of any peace ideal? I met war correspondents; I read a lot! Everyone that I interviewed answered me: there is a terrible political, social, religious war in Burma. I went there, I crossed the country and I wrote this story." So many years have been crossed since RAMBO had been born in 1982 (with FIRST BLOOD) and in the President of the USA at that time was Ronald Reagan, who often quoted the hero in his speeches. "Rambo was always apolitical," Stallone reminisces, "the others used him in diverse purposes. I continue to make my cinema based on social realism. In the film, there is no word against the USA. I want to speak about the Country, the truth , with people of any races or classes. But at the beginning of the film this man (Rambo) speaks once again against all the wars. Nobody ever walks away victorious of the horror of a conflict and some cult of the death and the weapons. The world is in chaos, and because of the wars many of the young people meet themselves as more disorientated than ever in the society." Rambo is confronted with genocides, with military power, with civil war in Burma... http://www.moviehole.net/news/200705...iew_and_p.html http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...italy_huge.jpg |

theres no way they are cutting enough of the gore out to make it PG-13.
i have a feeling it'll be the most violent movie of the year.(08) |
OK guys don't hurt me but I just want to ask:
What is it that you think is so great about the Rocky films? I have watched each one once only and I didn't think they where anything special (again please don't hurt me). Would you recommend I watch them again? Also I have not watched Rambo (shocking I know) so would like to ask: Which do you prefer Rocky films or Rambo? |
Quote:
But the Rambo films are highly entertaining....the first one is great. :) |

I guess I will have to give Rambo a go. Apparently I simply must go see new Rambo so due to my silliness I guess I have to watch all the Rambo films. Praises whoever that there is less Rambo films than there is Rocky. *Runs away* Oh I would still like the opinions of those who did enjoy the Rocky films. Thanks |
Yeah, I am probably not the one to judge actually, since there is something about Stallone that usually annoys the hell out of me. Except for First Blood (at least watch that one, it is well worth it!) and Cop Land.
And I am also just not a boxing fan, I don't really find much entertainment in two grown men beating each other into brain damage.....;) I mean, I understand the appeal I suppose, just not for me. :) But since boxing doesn't appeal to me, I for the most part find movies about boxing pretty boring. |

everyone who's not a fan of Stallone, watch Cobra.
god that movie is cool as hell. I think they should remake Tango And Cash. :) |
i think the only good parts of thr rocky films are the first part and the end. The rest I just get board with. They always make me smile though and I do always think to myself "Go on rocky, one more left hook!". Never watched Rambo. I dunno, but I think he may be pushing it. Although! I love a concluder to show what happened after.
|
oh great. and after he is done with rocky 6 and rambo 4, he can make over the top 2, tango and cash 2, blah blah blah...
someone must be running out of money. |
Over the Top is one of the best arm wrestling movies around! As for John Rambo, the trailer looks like a spoof. Some of the scenes look hilarious. I watched Rocky Balboa in the threatre so I would probably check this movie out when it comes to DVD.
Cobra, Lock Up, Demolition Man, Over the Top, Rocky 4, etc..... I like a lot of his movies! |

rocky vs rambo, the ultimate battle
Which one will come out the least moneyless most steroid taking of all. the greatest fight ever takes place this summer in all good cinemas and some of the bad ones! |
oh absolutely, don't get me wrong- i love a lot of his movies too- demolition man , as you said, as well as cobra, and probably a handfull of others i can not think of right now!!!
|
Hopefully it's better than Rambo III lol

John Rambo has knocked at the Lionsgate and they’ve answered. The studio – not surprisingly, since they’re the current owners of the past films – were more than happy to give the new sequel – “John Rambo” – a home. The publicity site for Lionsgate gives little else up other than they now own the title. Oh… besides this little synopsis : "In Thailand, a group of Christian aid workers recruit John Rambo to guide them up the Salween River to deliver medical supplies to the Karen tribe of neighboring Burma (aka Myanmar). When the missionaries fail to return, Rambo is persuaded to take a group of mercenaries back into the war-torn border region to find them. What follows is a descent into hell on earth." Sylvester Stallone writes, directs, produces and stars as JOHN RAMBO, filmed on location in and around Chiang Mai, Thailand. Also starring are Julie Benz ("Dexter"), Matthew Marsden (RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION, BLACK HAWK DOWN), Graham McTavish (HBO's "Rome"), Rey Gallegos (AMERICAN WEDDING), Jake La Botz (GHOST WORLD), Tim Kang ("Third Watch") and Paul Schulze (HBO’s "The Sopranos"). JOHN RAMBO is produced by Avi Lerner, Kevin King (ROCKY BALBOA) and John Thompson (KING OF CALIFORNIA). Executive producers are Andreas Thiesmeyer, Avi Lerner, Josef Lautenschlager and Florian Lechner. Director of Photography is Glen MacPherson (16 BLOCKS). Production Designer is Franco Carbone (ROCKY BALBOA) and the Costume Designer is Lizz Wolf. http://www.moviehole.net/news/200706...ays_his_h.html |

September 12, 2007 - Lionsgate has officially set a January 25, 2008 release date for Sylvester Stallone's John Rambo. The announcement was made on the studio's online press site.
Set in Thailand, John Rambo revolves around a group of Christian aid workers who recruit Rambo to guide them up the Salween River to deliver medical supplies to the Karen tribe of neighboring Burma (aka Myanmar). When the missionaries fail to return, Rambo is persuaded to take a group of mercenaries back into the war-torn border region to find them. What follows is a descent into hell on earth, as the controversial trailer that recently popped up online made graphically clear. Stallone writes, directs, produces and stars as Rambo. The pic was filmed on location in Thailand. |
