Its time to compile another Top 100
 

I have been thinking of this a lot lately, and the two awesome stickys on top of the forum kept reminding me that this place wont be a true horror destination until we have another top 100 beside it.

And that is "The 100 most disturbing, goriest, and sickest movies of all time".

We have had countless threads in the modern movies section, asking about which ones are the goriest, or sickest, or most visually disturbing, challenging...and we have some of the best and knowledgeable members here who I am sure will be willing to give their inputs into the compilation of such a top 100. For the gore-hounds out there, this will be the ultimate list.

So put your thinking caps on, and dwell into your movie-viewing experiences.

You are not limited to any number of movies. Bear in mind that the movie mentioned should be amply sick, gorific or mentally challenging for the audiences. That being said, go right ahead, Moth.

I d like to add one more thing. Some movies wont be that gorific or sick, but could be really mentally disturbing (like Eyes without a Face). So just dont restrict your recommendations to gore and sick movies alone...

So how do you decide on the Final 100?

And if Blood sucking Freaks isn't in there, then that's injustice...

Just send em in. I ll check into em and make the list. Ultimately it will come down to which movies get mentioned the most, then the next one etc.

If a movie/movies ends up with 1 recommendation, I ll check it out and see if its worthy to make the final cut.

So it's your top 100 not ours?

Duh, its "ours" not yours or mine. Bad pronoun there, mate.

If I had my way, I d make a top 100 list and ask a mod to sticky it, not ask for lists from you all.

And furthermore, I do go by popular mentioning. To make this totally fair, this wont be a top 100, but just 100 of the best, as chosen by HDC's finest.

oh, I should have had a comer after 100, but that's beside the point....

I encourage one and all to participate in this. All of your contributions are welcome. And I am sure we can think of 100 gorific and disturbing movies between ourselves.

Just a little note, if the recommendations make it to more than 100, then the least recommended movies get cut, obviously.

For those like Disease who have doubts about the selection process, and if you are bothered about your selected movie will be in it or not, I have 5 other very good members together with me, like a panel, with whom I will sit down and share these lists together, and the common consensus about a particular movie being either gorific, sickening, or visually disturbing will be discussed at length.

This meeting will be to decide those movies which are either tied together in the number of recommendations, or to decide to fill the other top 100 slots, in case we fall short of the 100 required, or if there is more than one movie with only 1 recommendation.

Of course, if a particular movie gets recommended the most, it automatically qualifies to be in the 100. Same goes for the rest. Auto-qualification is reserved for the most recommended movies only.

I am open to recommendations, suggestions, queries and discussions regarding the list. If you want to discuss about anything, feel free to drop me a PM or send me a email. I ll be more than happy to reply back.

Excellent lists, Mothman and Despare. If you think up of some more, send it. I ll be collating lists all through next week till next Sunday (if need be I ll extend the time if I get some late entries).

By 15th I m hoping I ll have a long list to start going through. It will take a lot of time and I hope I ll be free during those days, alongwith other members of the panel.

Me contribute? Oh no I am only but a mere newbie hehe. I am a real newbie to horror films always been a fan but just getting really interested so sadly my list of watched films is very unimpressive.
I have total faith in the other members and yourself to make yet another brilliant top 100 list.

The recommendations are coming in thick and fast people. Already a core list of movies is beginning to form. At least 30-odd movies have more than 1 recommendation, so its pretty much sure they will make it into the Compiled 100 list.

This is getting better and better. More and more good and experienced members sending some really good recommendations.

Anyone and everyone is invited. Its a list by HDC, for HDC and the true gore lovers out there. Its really great to see so many excellent recommendations by so many members. This is going to be a near-perfect 100, and we all will be mighty proud of it.

I was a bit surprised to know you havent seen some of em. I suggest you check into those you listed as soon as possible, (maybe even after the Gorific 100 is posted) and I assure you, you wont be disappointed by any one of em. At all.

Yeah, all of those are either in my Netflix Queue, I'm waiting for Netflix to carry it, or they're completely out of print. So, I'm working on it :p ;) Are there any specific ones that I should make a priority over the others?

Also, if there are any titles on the lists that I provided that you want me to summarize plot for and/or give details of why I think they should be included, let me know. :)

A total of 168 movies so far, from the 11 members who have submitted their recommendations.

I d like to thank all of em, and urge the others to send in some of their recommendations. I am sure many other members have some very good recommendations too. Lets rack our brains together and see if we can come up with some really good hard-to-find gorefests.

And a short but effective list from Shazbut.

Categorisation starts this Friday, as soon as I am off work. Discussion about the 100 between the 4 panel members will most likely be on either Saturday/Sunday, hopefully...depending on them being online at the same time.

Anyway, everything's on schedule for a last week of May list.
