Best werewolf transformation scene?

I love the transformation scene in"An American Werewolf in London"but my favorite would have to be"The Howling".....it's Really CREEPY and SCARY!

What's your favorite transformation in a werewolf flick?

AAWIL for sure.

Not the best per se, but Werewolf of London (1935) definatly deserves an honorable mention for the running transformation. Its a pretty slow movie and far from the best werewolf flick, but worth checking out for that scene alone.

I don't know why but I always like Michael Jackson's transformation in the Thriller music video.

London followed by Howling

The Company of Wolves had a nice transformation...

Then there was Silver Bullet...

Although AWIL absolutely takes the cake.

Ditto. I don't care what anybody says- that's the greatest music video of all time.

Yes,you're right. It was directed by"John Landis"and the makeup was done by"Rick Baker".The same guys that made"An American werewolf in London".:)

The werewolf in"Bad Moon"is AWESOME...but they used CGI for the transformation and it looked really poor!

The transformation scene in AAWIL is remarkable considering it was created back in 1981 and it's still just as effective now.

I agree...Jack Pierce and John P. Fulton deserve a lot of credit for this really clever 1935 transformation. Lon Chaney's Wolf Man looked very cool but never transformed in such a cool way.

this thread starts and ends with 'aawil'. simple as that

I remember seeing "An American Werewolf In London" in the theatre--the audience had been laughing and screaming and reacting all the way through the picture, until the transformation scene. Not a noise to be heard during the whole scene--they sat and watched it, in a sort of stunned silence. And then after that, they weren't much good any more, just sort of rode the movie out to the end.

Ok, the scene in AAWIL is great EXCEPT the beginning when he just falls out of the chair and starts screaming and writhing. It seemed like bad editing to me. There should have been a shot of the moon becoming full or emerging from the clouds to set it up. But it is a great scene within a great film...

Also I agree that the werewolf in Bad Moon is fantastic. It is pretty obscure but worth seeking out and viewing.

And while I'm on my soapbox... I didn't love Dog Soldiers, but the ultimate coolness of the werewolves made that film worthwhile for me.

Werewolves are pretty cool. Aw heck, everyone loves a werewolf!
