So far it's decent...if you pull off your wanted list it would be awesome
|
Mary Shelly's Frankenstein
Battle Royale |
no phantasm or nightmare on elm street, tisk tisk.
good luck on finding cannibal holocaust, bring money for the evil dead the only evil dead dvds i've seen where i'm from is that limited edition book of the dead (which is really good) and it costs like $35 (i'm kind of baffled at how you have army of darkness but never seen evil dead 1 or 2). i wouldn't waste my time on blair witch project, event horizon, or (i'll probably get bashed for this but) i didn't really like i spit on your grave. i don't know why but i didn't. i also didn't like hellraiser but thats just me. you should definetly get phantasm, tales from the hood, tales from the crypt bordello of blood, and definetly nightmare on elm street 1. also if you come by it get the sleepaway camp box set. oh yeah and get demon night too. |
You can find "Creepshow" at Wal-Mart for $5.00.
Please consider adding "Phantom of the Opera" (silent, 1925) to your collection. I agree with the previous poster. "Evil Dead 2" is a really good one. |
You gotta have the Blair Witch comon clown
|
I guess I have just saw Nightmare on Elm St. too much, I still will probably get it eventually though. Phantasm, I saw some sequel to it and it looked pretty good so I'll have to check out the original. And it is a sad story that I haven't seen Evil Dead 1 or 2 but have Army of Darkness. I guess I saw it when I was like 6 and never knew for the longest time that there were prequels to it, I guess if they called it Evil Dead III it would have helped me :). Here's a question though, is Evil Dead 1 or Evil Dead 2 better....I've heard mixed reviews.

good list
Im of for a day of dvd shopping later on, I hope to find the fog |
I have the Nightmare collection on dvd.
Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2 Friday the 13th (new blood and the final chapter) Scream (all of them) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) Jason X The Blair Witch Project (1 and 2) Halloween H2O And I'm planing to get Freddy VS Jason and Alien VS Preditor when they come out for sell. |
I would add -
Demons 2 (glad you have 1) Castle Freak Return of the Living Dead 1 and 3 (and 2 when it comes out) Nightmare on Elm Street collection (Freddy's Dead is cool in 3D and the encyclopedia is great) Warlock 1 and 2 13 ghosts (remake) House on Haunted Hill (remake) Prince of Darkness Candyman Halloween (Limited Edition if you can get it) If your into Aliens - Alien Quadrilogy Communion If you're going for Leprechaun, get Leprechaun Pot of Gore Collection (5 DVD Set) on Amazon for only $45 If you're going to get Halloween, get Halloween: Limited Edition if you can get it used or the Divimax plue the tv version. I'd be concerned about Session 9 getting boring after the first veiw - great rental to see in the dark though. These are just my humble opinion |
go to wal-mart and get every damn horror movie that you can find in the bargain bin.... they have a lot of great selections to choose from, well that is if you find it when it is just filled up..and if you like Italian horror (demons & demons 2) I`d add some Fulci to your collection...
Get TCM II and III if you order online here are some links cduniverse.com Horror Movies.com overstocked.com diabolikDVD diabolik DVD is expensive but I usually browse through just to find obscure horror... If you dont order online here are the best places to purchase horror... Circuit City, Wal-mart, target, & best buy... sometimes you can find some good deals at Suncoast |

What angers me about some of these movies is that is will be hard to find the true, uncut versions. Like Dead-Alive, I've heard of a version that's 104 minutes long and one that is 97 minutes long. Sadly the 97 minute one is the only one I've seen anywhere, seven minutes is a lot of editing and nearly every scene is probably cut some.
ps~~~Added some new dvds to the list |

The ones i have got:
The legend of hell house Firestarter Alien Aliens Alien 3 Alien: Ressurection Carrie Resident evil The night flier Dead and buried The others The Blair witch project Psycho(1998:mad: ) Bride of Chucky Camp blood Valentine Friday the 13th part 2 Friday the 13th part 3 Friday the 13th part 6 Halloween part 1 Halloween part 4 Halloween part 5 Mimic? At the post-office with my name on: The omen The silence of the lambs |
The fullest length uncut version of Braindead is not available on VHS or DVD. It has only been shown twice in the US and I was lucky enough to see it. It's a part of Peter Jackson's personal collection that he sometimes loans out.
Here are the many version: Peter Jackson's version - 104 min Argentina - 99 min Australia - 100 min Germany - 94 min USA - 97 min (unrated version) USA - 85 min (R-rated version) Isn't that sad? I'm so glad I was able to see the longest version. Here are some Highlights: ***Spoilers*** The Mom is way eviler The love between the two leads is deeper The Gore is way beyond what you see in the US uncut version The Punk Zombie is ripped in half by the two girls when each grabs one of his legs and pulls (like a wishbone) - they each then use a leg to beat the other zombies away There are a lot more gore scene too |

Where do you usually order from? I use only www.play.com, since they ship for free(im from Norway). Are there any other dvd-stores you may suggest which send for free?

Sometimes I like to gamble and buy a horror movie that I've never seen or heard of just because the payoff is great if the movie turns out to be really good. Of course, if the movie SUCKS it sucks to be stuck with a sucky movie but once in a while I'll take a gamble on one. I saw a movie by the name of "Freak" at Media Play and just bought it without knowing a thing about it beforehand. Has anyone else seen "Freak?" |

Peter Jackson's version is not available on DVD or Video, but they do have various copies of both Braindead and Dead Alive on video/DVD in both rated and unrated versions as well as specific cuts for different countries too.
The best video store here in San Francisco has four version (two are imports from Japan and Australia with the title Braindead). I don't blame Peter Jackson for keeping the most complete version to himself. The movie is brilliant and knowing there is an even longer version that is pretty much inaccessible just adds to the mystic of the film. I would kill for the Peter Jackson version on DVD though! |

It was loaned to the San Francisco Film Festival a few years back when they added the horror genre to the festival (I can't believe they never had a horror genre before then). A representative from Peter Jackson's group spoke to the audience about the version we were about to see which is where my information is coming from. The line went completely around the block and you know all the SF freaks came out in droves to see it.
|
Starseed do you know which version of Braindead is in New Zealand?
I'm surprised to hear peter jackson has a longer version, but i guess it's just a directors cut. Still the version that is available (here anyway) is hardly censored in any way. |
I don't know about New Zealand. Who knows how many versions their are for each country. I don't know of any movies that have so many cuts and versions as Braindead.
|
Are the Sleepaway Camp movies really that good, cause I'm pondering looking for the camp survival kit packaging with all three...... :) it looks cool. Anyone else have this that could tell me if it's worth it or not? I'm sure it will be kind of hard to find. Also I'm thinking of getting the Leprechaun pot of gore, well I guess I can't take anyone elses advice but my own because I've seen them all. $45 for 5 DVDs isn't that bad though even if they are Leprechaun.
ps~~~Any other box sets worth looking into? |
Come on :) , I know someone has to have the camp survival kit.
|
You should just knock out the whole series, and buy The Nightmare On Elm Street boxset. You'll have em all in one purchase, not to mention if you buy the correct one, it has some kick ass extras.
|
i have the camp survival kit. just got it recently. from what i have seen it is decent. only around $25 at best buy
