turning down a bad guy role in raiders of the lost ark so he could appear in venom (becuase the pay was better)

Alec baldwin. Not a phenominal actor, but i always enjoy him, and he seems to have fun with really awful roles.

Bruce Willis

i'm thinking more of actors that started strong and then without becoming bad themselves ... started appearing in weak films.

I think Bruce Willis is maintaining a certain standard these days

I agree.... I'm drawing a blank, which is unbelieveable....

Sigourney Weaver. Alien, Aliens, Ghostbusters, The Year of Living Dangerously (I hated it, but it was nominated for Oscars), most recently... The Village...

zwoti 02-06-2007 06:16 AM

ray liotta?

I saw it when i was about 14 or 15. I imagine i would have a very different opinion of it if i saw it now.

Speaking of Miss Weaver. I loved her when i was younger, because of ghostbuster and the alien movies, i wanted her to have my babies. Then i saw her topless when i was about 13. Shattered all of my illusions. Now i just think she is a great actor...

Good call.

i actually thought of another one: Brendan Gleeson. I thought he was great as Frank in 28 days later, but he has been in some real crap. Lake Placid was hardly a serious movie, but The Village... That movie is a blight on so many good carreers. Except Bryce Dallas Howard. i think she just sucks.

warren oates

listened to the audio commentary for sleeping dogs, roger donaldson (director) told the story of how they wanted jack nicholson for a part but they only had $5k fo the role. so jack turned it down but someone recommended oates as he would take it as long as they threw in a holiday so he could go fishing when he'd finished filming.

Despare 02-06-2007 06:40 AM

I'd say Christopher Walken and Samuel L. Jackson.

My favorite actor:D

You gotta put Micheal Caine on the list

Sure he's a little more discriminating now, but back in the 70s and 80s, he was the guy who couldn't say no. He's been in over 100 films!!!!

Jaws 4 anyone?

The_Return 02-06-2007 07:32 AM

How about Malcolm McDowell?

ME: Jurgen, Jurgen. What on Earth are you doing here on location for House of the Dead?

JURGEN PROCHNOW: Well.... One has to pay the bills, you know? (smiles)

(pause)

ME: You're not a bit ashamed of appearing in this turkey, are you.

JURGEN PROCHNOW: (utter truthfulness) No. Not in the slightest. ...Is there some reason I should be?

ME: Of course not.

I always thought Steve Buschemi was the king of this. I think he's in every single movie ever made.

Agreed. i have always wanted to punch him. In the face.

he did a commercial years ago where he was naming off colors. Every time i see him, i hear that whispy, soft voice of his say "Brown... Everysing, Brown..."

Made you hopeful for about .02 seconds didn't it?:D

Billy Zane is lovely. He can take a shitty line and make it gold.
