WolfMan Remake
Pleeze No!
Maybe I'm Dreaming, or just having a very bad nightmare! http://scifi.about.com/b/a/252292.htm |
Werewolf of Washington and Wolf were sort of remakes of the Wolf Man, they were ok I suppose.
|
Benicio Del Toro is perfect casting - he's about as feral an actor as there is. I think he's going to knock this one out of the park.
|
God... I can see him doing Fenster from the usual suspects as a werewolf....
"woof" "What?" "I said 'Woof'" "In English." "Woof, what the fuck..." |
seriously...WTF?!
Del Toro might have lost some marbles like Cameron recently... |
Quote:
 more feral than Michael J Fox !!?? |

okay, that was bad. He's a good guy... |

goddamn war mongerer ! :p |
I just wish this recent trend of "stirring up old wines, checking their composition, getting ingredients similar to those from new bottles, mixing em all up, and marketing em in a new bottle" would stop.
Old wine will always be old wine. No matter how perfect the new compositions are like. Geez...have they run out of ideas already? |
Oh, HELL YES.
Del Toro is going to be great! |
The Wolfman
I didn't see anybody mention this remake. What do you all think? Benicio Del Toro as Lawrence Talbot? I don't know...
|
The Wolfman is my favorite Universal monster film.I think Benicio Del Toro will make a great werewolf.
This might be pretty good. |

He's one of the most Feral actors out there and this is a passion project for him. Del Toro claims The Wolf Man was his favorite horro movie and he actively pursued the project.
Could actually be really good, as long as Stephen Sommers stays really fucking far away. |
This is a worthy remake, The wolfman is overdue.

but deltoro, come on he belongs in drug and running from tommy lee jones movies
|
Del Toro makes a great human monster. Look at him in Sin City. He plays a character that's such a powder keg that lycanthropy would only be redundant. Combine that with sensitive, expressive features much like those of Lon Chaney Jr. Both of them can express more with the lines in their face than other actors can with their whole bodies available. The Wolfman was also made over 60 years ago and has not had a direct remake in spite of being a member of the Universal Monster canon. Dracula has been reinterpreted, Frankenstein has been reinterpreted, but Larry Talbot remains the Larry Talbot of Wolfman, Frankenstein meets the Wolfman and the House of movies. The remake will remind people of his place in monster canon.

"The Wolfman" remake has a director
Romanek Helming The Wolfman
Source: The Hollywood Reporter February 8, 2007 Director Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) is set to helm The Wolfman, says The Hollywood Reporter. Scott Stuber and Mary Parent are producing the remake of the classic Universal Studios monster, which has Benicio Del Toro attached to star. Del Toro also is on board as a producer with Rick Yorn. The movie will hew to the period pedigree of the 1941 original, in which a man returns from the U.S. to his ancestral home in Victorian-era Great Britain, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence. Andrew Kevin Walker wrote the screenplay. A fall start is being planned. |
Wow, that will be hard to compare. Then again I loved that movie, and I'd totally watch the remake!
|
this sounds interesting!!!
|
Probably won't be much different than "Wolf", which sucked :(
|
"Wolf" is first off, not a horror movie. Second of all, it has a pretty positive perspective on lycanthropy. The Wolfman is the story of a person tormented by the condition. It does not advocate letting your freak flag fly and enjoying a life of lupine decadence with Michelle Pfeiffer. Third, this is the remake of a Universal classic. If treated with reverence, it will be great. Remember that Carpenter's the Thing is a remake and that modern psychology, acting techniques and effects have something to contribute sometimes. Remakes sometimes remind people of the eternal quality of the original, or sometimes elaborate and enhance. This is not going to be a The Hitcher kind of remake, but maybe a The Fly kind of remake.

well i hate remakes to death sep for a few but remaking the wolfman i cant stand this whats next a remake of return of the vampier o what they probably did

he looks awesome! I'm really excited to see this. Just praying they don't fuck it up. |
Well, I have mixed feelings about this one.
The original is one of my favorite werewolf films. I am just tired of all the remakes, and keep hoping to see more original and quality horror films. But, Del Toro is one of my favorite actors, and this does have the potential to be excellent. |

so this is how he looks attacking make-up effects whiz, Rick Baker, in a classic Wolf-Man pose WITHOUT ANY MAKE-UP:eek: With a script by Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en, Sleepy Hollow) Rick Baker's make-up and Benicio's amazing, snarling face - I'm actually really looking forward to this one. Can't wait to see Benicio's sliver tipped pimp-cane! If done right, this could totally become a modern classic. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sending them nothing but positive thoughts. |

Actually really looking forward to this myself now, after hearing Rick Baker was going to be involved. I don't see how it can lose with all this talent going into it. Trying hard not to get my expectations too high though. But yeah, this could be outstanding. That's a great picture. :p |
Hey, this looks good, really good. Del Toro is the wolfman!
Check him out in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as Dr Gonzo and tell me he wasn't born to play some crazed lycanthrope. |
even though i like it more on the wolf side: american werewolf in london/howling, i'm excited about the remake. but...
not sure about mark romanek as director. he's coming from making a butt load of music videos and that always scares me. on the other side he's like an indie film actor in that he's ready and eager. im happy that andrew kevin walker wrote the script. he's dabled in some dark stuff b/f: se7en, 8mm, tales from the crypt. not too familar w/ the producers though... |
As much as he tries, this young man won't be as good as Lon Chaney Jr. I just hope he raises his standards of acting to fill those great boots, because the director's name and the script don't sound very encouraging.
|
Universal Studios has bumped their The Wolfman remake from November of 2008 to an undetermined 2009.
Like the 1941 original that starred Lon Chaney Jr., Mark Romanek's vision will be set in Victorian England. Benicio Del Toro will play a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence. |
Hopkins confirmed for "The Wolfman"
Hopkins Confirmed for The Wolfman
Source: MTV October 19, 2007 It's been rumored for a while, but now Sir Anthony Hopkins has confirmed that he will star opposite Benicio Del Toro in Universal's The Wolfman, scheduled for a February 13, 2009 release. "I'm going to do 'The Wolfman' with Benicio Del Toro," Hopkins told MTV during an interview for his upcoming movie, Slipstream. Hopkins will play Sir John Talbot, father to Del Toro's Lawrence Talbot, the character who becomes afflicted with the werewolf curse. Mark Romanek directs from a script by Andrew Kevin Walker. |
Sounds like the Wolfman remake might actually be pretty fuckin good.
