A Nightmare on Elm Street

my take on the series is this:

one~ was brilliant. an amazing and unique idea that was scary! it was mind blowing at the time and obviously has staying power. very good!

two~ the most under rated of the series IMO. extremely dark and different from the other freddy movies, much like halloween 3 is to that series. not given the recognition it deserves. we really start to see freddy show his bad self in this flick. good movie!

three~ probably my favorite one. there's something unique and really good about this picture. nancy was in it of course and this is where we really start to see fred's funny side. a lot of emotion in this one. very good!!

four~ is about as far as i would go in the series and is the last one i own. decent movie. we get to see freddy evolve but it's lacking some key players-i wish patricia arquette would've come back for this one, but a decent film none the less.

avenger00soul 12-18-2003 07:29 AM

I will agree with you about the original Nightmare, but you are WAY off on Nightmare 2. That "movie" was as boring as they come. The studio kept telling the director to go back and make it scarier. Usually the studio can be wrong, not in this case.

deathiscoming 12-18-2003 12:41 PM

I love this series. Here are my ratings in order:
ANOES
ANOES 3
NEW NIGHTMARE
ANOES 4
ANOES 5
ANOES 6
ANOES2

crazy clown 12-18-2003 03:33 PM

yea man 2 was just...gay...i mean the whole gym teacher thing:confused:

ds_spoon 12-18-2003 03:37 PM

yeah i thought 2 was a bit gay to...

Digital Murders 12-18-2003 03:46 PM

I thought New Nightmare was actually really good.

I don't remember seeing 2. I've seen all the movies I'm pretty sure, but I just can't remember which is which.

I hope I get that fuckin boxset of christmas. :(

Arioch 12-19-2003 06:02 PM

the boxed set owns! anyone made it through that whole extra dvd with the labyrinth? its SOOOOOOO long. Killer having them all on dvd, i watch them all the time.

I love New Nightmare tho, and i will have those boots freddy wears in that one too.

Freddy#1Slasher 12-19-2003 06:23 PM

Don't worry man I like #2 as well.

Great movie. Freddy was darker, scarier, meaner, and more brutal. He showed no fukcing mercy and his kills were awsome, especially Grady's.

The movie is a little slow since the 1st kill does not happen for awhile, but the pool scene and The Grady kill is worth the movie alone.

There is one thing I hated about the movie though, The Ending. :(

My ratings:

1) ANOES 3
2) ANOES 1
3) ANOES 2
4) ANOES 4
5) ANOES 5
6) Wes Craven's New Nightmare
7) Freddy's dead: The Final Nightmare

Posting in the wrong forum seems akin to wishing rape upon one's dead relatives.

Now then, who's up for another Halloween?

MichaelMyers 11-15-2004 11:35 AM

No? Welcome?

tachii 11-17-2004 09:14 AM

will wes craven ever rescue this stray lamb?

horror_spooky 11-17-2004 03:45 PM

i doubt it......Horror movies should keep the original writers unless the writers work forever and come up with THE CRAPIEST movie ever. then they should switch writers. I think they should've switched the Child's Play writer after Child's Play 3 came out. Damn that movie sucked. Bride of Chuckie made it worse. Hopefully Seed of Chucky is good. If it's not.....

Hopefully Wes won't try and "rescue" this dead and buried series again.

I have the box set (DVD) and it rules! I say, buy it when you get the chance! I love how on the bonus DVD you can travel through Freddy's house and watch special features in random and see some exclusive footage. The movies rock too!:D

movies vary in quality, boxset is good

crippler666 08-05-2005 03:42 PM

If you have seen the movies before, they are as you remember them.

If not then could still be worth a look, but remember they had a very different fealing at the beginning.

horror_master 08-07-2005 03:16 PM

I'm buying when I can find it.
