How long are we gonna live kids?

THE LONGEVITY CALCULATOR

This Calculator is based on a quiz Harvard Medical School researchers Thomas Perl, M.D. and Margery Hutter Silver, Ed.D. developed to help you calculate your life expectancy. The quiz was developed after a rigorous study of 150
centenarians.

To compute your life expectancy, the calculator adds all of the individual
score points together. The result may be negative, zero, or a positive
number. The calculator program then divides the result by 5. The result of
this division is then added to 84 if male or 88 if female, producing life
expectancy in years.

Calculate your longevity:

I got 79 :D

alkytrio666 01-05-2007 06:27 PM

81 years...

Phalanx 01-05-2007 06:28 PM

....82....

Spallalala 01-05-2007 06:38 PM

When cheebs told me to do the test I thought it was some screamer haha. But I got 84. :)

Phalanx 01-05-2007 06:39 PM

I guess at least the last two years of your life should be relatively peaceful then, hm?

Spallalala 01-05-2007 06:43 PM

nah...Already told ya...If you go first im killing myself. :P hahahha

I should try that test again in a few years and see what it says then, considering our life style will hopefully change in about 5yrs. Already eating better which is a good start.

Elvis_Christ 01-05-2007 06:54 PM

You'd probably be able to add some years on for all the medical advances that will happen during that time. Unless we blow ourselves up or totally fuck the joint up with pollution.

Spallalala 01-05-2007 07:02 PM

I wanna be a cyborg..But I wanna wear clothes.

Yeah medically this world is getting better. Many diseases are being ridden of which is good when it comes to our youngys. Even at my age now I might just get a hint of all the good stuff to happen, then I'll pop off into the unknown.

The Mothman 01-05-2007 07:32 PM

that thing always freaked my friedns out. its totally random though. i typed the same description in twice and it gave me two entirely different ages.
i got 82 this time.

stubbornforgey 01-05-2007 09:41 PM

i got 90
cool :p

Spallalala 01-05-2007 09:54 PM

Its all about the trees, grass and fresh air.. Dayum bitch. :P

Phalanx 01-05-2007 09:57 PM

If I live to be over 70, I'll be pretty pleased with that. I'll just be interested in seeing what kind of things they come up with to help old folks get around.
I totally want the proffessor x floating chair thing....or at least shoes that glide or summin'

stubbornforgey 01-05-2007 10:28 PM

LOL
oh wow i outlive most of you :p

bloodrayne 01-05-2007 11:14 PM

Hmm...I got 82, Dustin got 72...That would mean that he's STILL gonna outlive me by almost 6 years...

Freak 01-05-2007 11:20 PM

I got 75 which is pretty good considering my unhealthy lifestyle.

You may have made a mistake. I tried it three times and got the same answer every time.

Roderick Usher 01-05-2007 11:48 PM

88?
That would be great!

stubbornforgey 01-05-2007 11:53 PM

can you imagine living till 90' :o

ShankS 01-06-2007 01:12 AM

I take all this stuff with a pinch of salt. Even though it's by some group of Harvard phd bods and their studies. The 'quiz' wont take previous and future lifestyle changes into account, also renob might get hit by a truck, buggers his test up then don't it.

btw It reckons I'll live to 87.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 01-06-2007 01:18 AM

80.

I hope I'm not still alive at 80. :(

Geddy 01-06-2007 02:17 AM

83 but i did it again with the exact same answers and got 84.

VampiricClown 01-06-2007 06:52 AM

88....Hmmmm

The Flayed One 01-06-2007 07:08 AM

78. I have a feeling when they ask certain questions, though, they don't consider the extremes.

XtRaVa 01-06-2007 07:32 AM

84. But I'm pretty sure I'll die of cancer or something about 70. (Hopefully not) I'd love to live till 84+ but only if I was well enough to enjoy life rather than be sitting in a hospital bed.

monalisa 01-06-2007 07:32 AM

82...I guess that'll be sufficient.

stygianwitch 01-06-2007 09:35 AM

89... i can live with that, am hoping for 91 like my great grandmother but anything over 60 is a bonus to me

ferretchucker 01-06-2007 09:45 AM

I got 88 but things will hopefully change soon. When i reach 15 I can get a membership at the gym, when I get older I will drink more tea aswell andnone of my parents are dead and no grandparents are older than 76 yet.

Cadaver 01-06-2007 09:54 AM

76... I need more time then that...

The older you get the worse your result will be. You'll be able to legally drink. You'll do more stupid things like try drugs, have unprotected sex maybe and generally just live a bit more wreckless due to the fact you're old enough to engage in more adult activities, also pollution levels will of risen etc.

You will suffer from lots more stress due to work, more responsibilities etc. Drinking coffee gives -3 because of all the caffeine etc, but drinking tea everyday is bad.

I dont know why it gives +3, unless its talking about herbal teas etc. You're english like me, so normal tea to us is sweet and milky with normal tea bags, if you drink that stuff everyday its not necessarily a good thing. Tea stops the absorbtion of iron from your foods, which in turn lowers haemoglobin iron levels. The lower that level is, the more likely you will become anemic.

(Thats what they told me when I give blood) By the way, giving blood makes you healthier. It makes you fitter because your body is functioning normally whilst missing a litre of blood (so basically its like blood doping that athletes do to cheat) and it also causes the body to create new healthy blood and generally promotes better health - so do this if you want to raise your death age a bit :)

Anyway, my point being, if we all did the test at your age we would all get a high result, but the older you get the worse your health becomes just due to your changing everyday life, let alone natural reasons. Dont want to put a downer on you living long though mate :p

Miss Olivia 01-06-2007 11:19 AM

Supposedly I'll live to be 84.

Despare 01-06-2007 11:22 AM

Woohoo, I'll be 88.

knife_fight 01-06-2007 11:39 AM

80, but I see no way of me making it that far.

ferretchucker 01-06-2007 12:53 PM

I think tea is +3 because it calms the body and believe it or not, becuase it is usually hot it refreshes you better. The actual tea is good it's the stuff you put in it that's bad. I have no sugar and very little milk in mine.

XtRaVa 01-06-2007 02:11 PM

But tea has caffeine. Caffeine is bad :)

ferretchucker 01-06-2007 02:48 PM

I never asked you, why didn't you come on here or CS for ages? Drinking too much coffee?

The_Return 01-06-2007 03:23 PM

88

Dont really trust these things.

Just forgot ;)

I was busy with Uni work, and just forget what things I like to do when I'm doing nothing at the PC.

Angra 01-06-2007 03:36 PM

I give it a couple more years, then i call it a day..

knife_fight 01-06-2007 03:47 PM

isn't the average life expectancy something like 70-75? yet everyone's answer on here is in the 80s and up. either we're all health nuts (doubtful, this is an internet forum after all, which are notorious for being havens of scum and villainy and couch potatoes) or this thing is way off.
