Who has seen this one?

I've heard nothing but raves and it's nominated for a Golden Globe for best foriegn language film. Really excited about seeing this.

I'm going to a screening at the Egytpian Theater in Hollywood on Monday and Guillermo Del Toro is going to be there!!!

but yes, its a truly beautiful movie. visually stunning, and really heartbreaking. i think he surpassed the devil's backbone with this one.

This is a MUST SEE for me. If anyone's interested, this month's Rue Morgue has a long interview with del Toro about the film. Interesting reading, and it really made me want to see quite badly.

Sounds almost too good. I'm afriad of entering the theater with unreasonable expectations.

it showed at like one cinema near where i live but we got to it....was a weird film to watch on a monday at 10past 3...i think it was on the 27th of november i seen this....ill check my tix, cuz i keep the movie stumps. its frakking amazing film and there had been a lot of talk about it before it came out amongst people in my class...but a lot of people didnt get to see it cuz it wasnt on widley enough or for long.

i have yet to see the devils backbone :o

I watched this expecting nothing really and was blown away.

I was supposed to go to the screening with a Q&A with Del Toro, but the Bitch who said she could get me tickets apparently doesn't have a much pull as she thinks she does.

I saw a short blurb on this in Newsweek and thought it sounded very cool. I loved Devil's Backbone, so this one is on my must-see list.

I agree, I am VERY excited for this one. Newsweek had a great write up about it also. For those who have not Seen The Devil's Backbone, if your expectations get too high then you might be slightly disappointed. But it is great... I prefer Del Toro's foreign films to his Hollywood Hellboy stuff... My only concern about Pan's is that the protagonist is a little girl...this could take something away slightly...sorry but I have trouble relating to little girls...

Pan's Labyrinth recieved 6 Academy Award Nominations this morning!!!!!!!!

Which proves that the Academy is at least making an effort to convince people that their corrupt little group is fair.

The cattiest remark I heard surrounding the Razzies was the proposed nomination of Sharon Stone's aging breasts as Worst Onscreen Duo.

Pan's Labyrinth is truely one of the most visually pleasing films I think I've ever seen. It's beautiful and horrifying, and it does such a nice job touching that hard subject of loss of innocence. It shows us a strong message but doesn't shove it in our faces. Every performance, line, monster, and set was perfect.

And I think we have a new contender for most humanly evil villian: Capitán Vidal was vicious!

well i ended up being more interested with the real world stuff that went on with the army....love it when she sliced his cheek

It is the story of a young girl's escape from the horror of her real life as a step child of a sadistic Captain in Franco's Army (this is set just after the Spanish Civil War) into a fantasy world that is equally terrifying.

It is a masterful piece of storytelling that is a fairy tale in the Grimmest sense. And the true brilliance of the film is that director Del Toro depicts the horrors of the real world as even more violent and dangerous than the horrors of the fantasy world.

It is the most enjoyable theater-going experience I have had in quite some time and (even though it is subtitled) I recommend it highly to everyone who loves film. Hope that helps.

this movie sounds boring

I think it sounds great I am looking forward to watching it.

I'll be seeing this in one hour. I'm really looking forward to it; with all the hype around it, I hope I don't end up dissapointed.

Well... his name is "can't get enough gore".

And he'll totally miss out on this one...and the gore in it is sooooo tasty

I saw this film and I must say that it was wonderful. Has a nice mix of fantasy, horror, and drama.

Though most of the story is set in the non-fantasy world. The girl's stepfather is a true monster, killing and torturing quite a few people. The acting is excellent.

The costumes and special effects are really great too. The creature with it's eyes in it's hands is really frightening. Poor faeries.

Yes the part that was real make references to the Spanish Civil war, and the fascist govern of Francisco Franco (But in some strange way it's a dark periode of our history).

Oh boy, now I have to see it! It sounds like a truly original movie, I'm tired of the same ol' crap. I thought the previews were groovy.
