Johnny Depp and John Turturro are starring in an adaptation of Secret Garden, Secret Window. David Koepp (Stir of Echoes) is directing. Sounds good to me.

In other news, another company has bought the rights to give From a Buick 8 the Hollywood treatment. I haven't read that one and have no idea what it's about. Can anyone fill me in on the concept?

so whats the general plot?

Well, the Secret Window plot is about a man who accuses a writer of stealing his ideas. Here's the summary:

"Mort Rainey, a successful author, is passing through a hard period in his life. After catching his wife sleeping with another man, he divorces and moves away from the city to somewhere in the country. One day a man appears at his door, presenting himself as John Shooter, and accuses Mort of copying a story from him. Although Mort believes things can be solved once he shows Shooter the original version, which had appeared one year before Shooter's version, he can't seem to be able to get an original copy in the time limit set by Shooter. Strange things start happening which prevent him from recieving the needed original and Mort tries to find out who Shooter really is and if he is responsible for the things which happen."

I have no idea what the other one is about.

I think the Buick movie is about a car with a mind of its own. Im pretty sure I saw it on TV once and it really wasnt that appealing. The car has a killer instinct of some sort, and causes the driver to die.

I read the inside flap of From a Buick 8 earlier this week. It seems like it *is* about a car with a mind of it's own. Possibly one that kills people again. Sounds like Stephen King is running out of ideas, it's Christine all over again.

He said that's why he is retiring.

I hate to admit it, but it really IS a lot like Christine. It basically seems like he thought of some things after he finished Christine, that would have been cool, so he just wrote another one...A little disappointing,,,But, if you forget about Christine, Buick 8 is pretty good on it's own...:)

Hmmm...I wonder if the movie will be as similar to Christine then. I hope not. I like Christine, but I don't want to see another retread of the same story.

Yes, Talisman, Riding the Bullet, Bag of Bones, Desperation, and another Salem's Lot are all coming out in the following years.
