Lady in the Water and The Descent?
So is anyone going to see them? They look good but just wondering what others think on them...
|
Very excited to see The Descent after all the great buzz it got overseas.
Lady In The Water looks OK...I'll wait for DVD, but I would like to see it. |
The Descent was very good.
|
I'm a big Paul Giamatti fan, so I'll probably check out Lady in the Water

Only reason I'm going. |
...I expected more from "The Descent"...
|
Just wondering..does Lady in the Water have ANYTHING to do with werewolves or am I just thinking of a different movie ...
|
I don't THINK it has werewolves in it...I know it has like a water nymph trying to get home and some scary things that don't want her to but I don't think they're werewolves....of course there's no telling...
|
...
I think they're trying to pass it off like a horror movie like they did with "The Village" The original trailers made it look like an interesting sci-fi kind of thing, and the latest trailers make it look almost like a slasher.
Waiting for reviews from people here. |
hmmmmm.....if I hear more good things about Lady in the Water, I would be willing to check that out. I saw a trailer for "The Descent" that didn't make me want to see it...the dialogue sounded awkward...but it may just have been a poorly-cut trailer.

The Descent:-
Shot with the currently in vogue low FPS during the action scenes, which makes them computer game-esque and deeply unsatisfying. Also, the cinematography around the caverns is disorientating - and not in an exciting way. Finally, generally bland British characters make the whole thing distinctly underwhelming. Not a bad ending, though. |
Lady in the Water looks good in previews, but all movies do. I was so disappointed by The Village, I dont know if I can trust Mr. Shyamalan anymore. I think he used up all his talent on The Sixth Sense.

the lady in the water's commercial just gets on my nerves! that little girls voice is just agitating!
|
The thing that's bugging me about Lady in the Water is the damn marketing. At first they were making it look like a pretty cool fairy-tale fantasy flick, now they want to make it look like horror. Doesnt look too bad either way, but I wish they could decide what to make us expect.

The Descent rules.
even if the creatures do look exactly the same as the thing from Creep. |
i can't wait to see the lady in the lake I like that guy in it from Sideways
|
The Descent was pretty good - but could have done so much more. I did an interview with Neil Marshall when it was first released, and he didn't seem 100% happy with it himself. Certainly not compared to Dog Soldiers. It has plenty of jumpy moments (if you like that sort of thing) but nothing that makes your skin crawl, like the surgery scene in Creep.
So up for Lady In The Water it's unreal, I think Shyamalan is a dude, and his stuff gets better with repeated viewing. |

You're tenacious, I'll give ya that ;) |
I'm trying!

I saw the decent and I didn't enjoy it that much. Made me feel clauterphobic the whole time. And one more thing why is it always West Virgina that they set these kinds of movies. But I'm really excited about the Lady in the Water. I can't wait to see it.

Pfffth!!.... Which horror movies did you actually LIKE? "Haunted mansion"? |
I didn't like the Haunted Mansion movie (or the first Pirates movie, especially)..............but I did like the Country Bears movie. I mean come on, you gotta love a movie called The Country Bears Movie.

Oh yes, sounds like a classic. |
Country Bears was indeed scary - but for the wrong reasons.
|
Hey, Country Bears had Christopher Walken as the bad guy.
It's awesome. Okay, maybe "awesome" isn't the word. |
