Grocery List...Kinda Like A Survey
We all have to buy the 'essentials'...Usually, I just get whatever's cheapest...BUT, for some things I have to buy a certain brand because it's what works best for us...How about you guys?
Laundry Detergent: Tide with Bleach Fabric Softener: Whatever's cheapest...Sheets AND Liquid Dish Liquid: Whatever's cheapest with grease cutters (prefer Dawn, but only get it when it's on sale) Toothpaste: Crest Whitening Toilet Paper: Angel Soft Paper Towels: Whatever's cheapest Soap: Shower Gel, whatever's cheapest and smells good (tear-free for the kids) Shampoo and conditioner: same as shower gel Mouthwash: Listerine Hair Gel: Whatever's cheapest and smells good-strong hold Socks and underwear: Hanes Deoderant: Whatever's cheapest and smells good, with anti-perspirant AND deoderant Kitchen spray cleaner: Lysol Kitchen Cleaner Bathtub Cleaner: Comet Window Cleaner: Alcohol, it's cheap and doesn't streak Floor cleaner: Pinesol or Mr. Clean...Whichever's cheapest Carpet Deoderizer: Usually Arm & Hammer Garbage Bags: Scented, whatever kind's cheapest..Usually Ruffies Milk: 2%, whatever kind's cheapest Butter: Imperial Eggs: Jumbo, whatever kind's cheapest Bread: Butternut Diapers: Huggies Baby wipes: Huggies Baby Food: Beechnut What about you guys?...Got any preferences? |
My daily shopping list:
Beer - St Paulie Girl The hard stuff - Maker's Mark Smokes - Marlboro Lights |
I had to borrow your list to remember everything.
Laundry Detergent: Tide HE... We've got one of those "new fangled" washer and dryers Fabric Softener: Bounce with Fabreeze Dish Liquid: Palmolive Toothpaste: Colgate Total Toilet Paper: Charmine Ultra Paper Towels: Bounty Soap: Shower Gel: Cetaphil- This shit is soooo expensive, but unfortunately, I have very very sensitive skin. Shampoo and conditioner: Pantene Clarifying and Generics: Tea Tree. Conditioner: Pantene Light Conditioning Spray, and some salon brand spray on conditioner Mouthwash: Crest Hair Gel: Don't use it. My mum does, and she uses Big Sexy. It's a nifty little salon brand that's going to regular market Socks and underwear: Whatever I have a mind for. Deoderant: Secret Platinum unscented- sensitive skin issues. It's also nice to not have stinky under arms nor really perfumey under arms. Kitchen spray cleaner: Lysol Kitchen Cleaner- damn straight Bathtub Cleaner: Mr. Clean bathtub moppy, stick thingy. Window Cleaner: Alcohol? Really? I'll have to try that. Usually Windex with vinegar formula Floor cleaner: Pinesol- again, damn straight! I love the smell of that stuff! Carpet Deoderizer: That shit gives me a headache Garbage Bags: That flexable stuff by Hefty or whomever Milk: Whatever 2% organic milk has the longest shelf life. Butter: Sweet Cream by Land O' Lakes Eggs: Whatever organic brand is available. I'm trying to convince my folks to go with free range and organic, but so far have only convinced them to go organic. Here's something to save everybody a LOT of money on cleaners. Get a huge bottle of bleach, whatever kind you want. Get yourself a spray bottle. Fill about a third of the bottle with bleach and the rest with water. It will clean any hard surface (except wood, but I shouldn't have to tell you that) in your home and kill every germ. Bleach is a hospital sanitizer. It will even kill the AIDS virus on contact. It doesn't smell that great, but it's extremely effective. Just some food for thought. |
I always buy food for one day at a time, cuz I never know what I'm gonna have a taste for. So today I bought
steak cubes for stew pasta vodka sauce Made a sweet pasta dish, I'm full as a pig... one of those fat, full pigs. |
Ah, brand loyalty. You have been assimilated.
|
Thus my recommendation to stop bowing to the corporate masters a la my parents, and start using generic chlorine bleach and water. Ah HA!

Crest seems to get my teeth the cleanest, and Listerine seems to 'last longer', which makes me think it really does kill more germs... No other bread tastes like Butternut...When you get used to some things, you can really tell the difference with others Lysol Kitchen Cleaner ends up being cheaper because it cuts grease immediately, cleans the best, and therefore you use less of it, and it takes much less time to clean the kitchen Comet is cheap and cleans the tub better and easier than anything else I've tried And I don't have a clue how anyone with kids can get their clothes clean without Tide with Bleach, it also makes the whites whiter... As for the baby stuff: ALL of my kids were allergic to Pampers, And everything else leaks, except Huggies...So, that's our preference...Huggies wipes are thicker than others, clean better, so you use less, save money.....Baby Food: Gerber always used fillers (predominantly tapioca), to stretch their product and make a bigger profit for themselves...Until, people started complaining...They don't do it anymore (that I know of), but the fact that they DID do it for about 20 years, is enough to make me not trust them, and I have also noticed that they use a lot more water ("for processing"), than ANY other baby food brand, their baby foods are not nearly as 'thick' as others...Beechnut NEVER used fillers, or added salt or sugar...So, all 3 kids got Beechnut Trust me...I've been around long enough to try EVERYTHING...And, I know what works and what doesn't...At least for us |
Yeah, for babies you can't be too careful with nappies and such.

& the diaper deal, my kid's the opposite. He was never allergic to any kind, but anything other than huggies would leak all over. |
