Favorite Character
What is your favorite character from a book of any genre?
One that comes to mind right now is Atticus Finch of To Kill A Mockingbird. |

& i've always really liked & |
mine would be .
he shows up in almost everything Seriously, I loved Will Graham from Red Dragon - i love the tragic quality and hte fact that he doesn't show up in any of hte later books. . . I was sort of pissed that he doesn't show up at all in Hannibal (which makes no freaking sense) - but in the end given that Harris is such a bloated writer these days - i'm glad Graham has remained unscatehd |

I really like Shuya and Shugo of Battle Royale.

Randle Patrick MacMurphy
- Ken Kessey's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" |
Tyrion Lannister (George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series)
Mat Cauthon (Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time) The Misfit (from Flannery O'Connor's "A Good Man is Hard to Find") Do comics count too? If so, I'll add Morpheus, Death, and Lucifer from the Sandman. |

Charles Halloway - Something Wicked This Way Comes (Bradbury)

Quote:
In the BOOK, Jonathon Harker was actually a very, very realistic and down-to-earth charcater. He was believable in every aspect, and his gradual trip into insanity in the castle is like actually being there. His emotions are real, his fears humane. We really didn't get any personal connections at all with the Count- in fact, surprisingly, very few of the 400ish pages are on the Count. And as far as Renfield, he was an enjoyable character, but not as easy to relate to as Harker, nor as realistic. The movies throw all these charcaterizations off, however. They've yet to create a Harker on film that even comes close to the one in the book. |
I guess I aughta read the book in that case. I read a condensed version a few years back, I guess it must have been quite different from the real novel beacuse Harker was just as flat and boring as he is in the movies....

I could always dig Nathaniel from the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter books. I also took a shine to Dean from "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac.
|
FBI Agent Pendergast from The Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.
This guy is the ultimate badass- slick, sly, and smooth. |
Mr. Larten Creepsly from the Saga of Darren Shan.
|
Jay Gatsby (the Great Gatsby) and Stephen Dedalus (Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Ulysses) In a horror novel, I'd say Van Helsing from Dracula and Mammoulian from Clive Barker's the Damnation Game. Comics wise Rorschach from Watchmen and the Joker of course.
