The X-Men: The Last Stand Synopsis
Source: 20th Century Fox March 1, 2006

20th Century Fox has released the following synopsis for X-Men: The Last Stand, coming to theaters on May 26:

In X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, the final chapter in the "X-Men" motion picture trilogy, a "cure" for mutancy threatens to alter the course of history. For the first time, mutants have a choice: retain their uniqueness, though it isolates and alienates them, or give up their powers and become human. The opposing viewpoints of mutant leaders Charles Xavier, who preaches tolerance, and Magneto, who believes in the survival of the fittest, are put to the ultimate test - triggering the war to end all wars.

While this may be the last film in the "X-Men" trilogy, we still have spinoffs Wolverine and Magneto to look forward to.

Posher778 03-01-2006 03:21 PM

At least their going to end it after this one. I LOVE the 2 movies out now, and i'm very happy that they won't ruin it by letting it go onnn and onnn.

The_Return 03-01-2006 05:57 PM

Can't...friggin...wait.

Will be seeing it opening day wiith my dad. We went opening night to the first two, so I guess it's sort of tradition.

Though there are many distressing rumors floating about, this should a damn fine swanne song for the X-Men trilogy.

urgeok 03-02-2006 05:51 AM

my sister worked on this ...

she worked on xmen 2 as well .. and #1 was filmed all around where i live.

i guess it's appropriate - what with the favorite character being a Canuck and all ...

scouse mac 03-02-2006 11:17 AM

This had better be good, loved the first two and have very high hopes for this. I'll be there front row centre come opening.

Posher778 03-02-2006 12:41 PM

I always preferred Storm and Cyclops of the Xmen.

Wolverine was always top dog for me, Beast second. Very glad he is making an appearance in this one. Hope they keep his dry wit in tact.

Posher778 03-02-2006 01:05 PM

Wolverine is cool, but I liked the whole, storm, white hair, and outfit stuff. Cyclops was my favorite from tv and comics, but in the movies he hardly ever uses his lasers.

Prelude95Si 03-02-2006 02:42 PM

Personaly I'm upset that Gambit never made a film appearance.

I also think that the X-Men series had the potential to go further than 3 films, but when I think about the setting and mode of the first 2 I can see why they would end it at #3. The movies focus so much on the mutant/humanity aspect of the comic that it would be odd for the films to suddenly go in the direction of introduceing the other villians of the X-Men. But I still think that the sentienals should have made an appearance. They totally refelct humanities desire to control what they fear.

urgeok 03-02-2006 07:00 PM

.re Storm ...... she may have looked cool but she was the mist under used ill conceived character in the movies .. a complete waste of time .. they gave her nothing to do.

Zero 03-03-2006 06:07 AM

i'm also glad they are ending it - - i would've loved to see Dark Phoenix story play out on screen (i remember as a kid thinking that that whole story was totally awesome and being really devastated when she killed herself at the end of the arc)

the movies have been a mixed bag for me - - - i loved hte drama of the first one, the action of the second (but thought in that respect both lacked what the other had). . . if they can pull it all together for #3 - that would be awesome.

X3 is about the Phoenix saga. I believe Wizard said that there was a report that it is the Dark Phoenix saga specificly. I think that even in the teaser when you see Jean push the door open that its about the Dark Phoenix saga, plus Jean just looks evil in the pics I've seen from this movie.

The_Return 03-03-2006 12:41 PM

Was the end of #2 not an obvious enough clue that this would concern the Pheonix saga?

Agreed complety that Gambit should have been in the movies. Supposedly, Brian Singer thought he was too much like Cyclops to include in the films. When I heared a new director was on board for this one, I was hoping they'd include Gambit, but alas, no luck. Rumor has it that there will be Sentinals though, which will rock my socks.

Getting more psyched by the minute for this:D

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE NOW! Even if these are the human size sentinals it will still be fucking awsome to see them on screen.

Please, don't hold it against me if they dont show up. We all know how internet rumors can turn out...though Ive read this one a few fairly reputable sites [IE- Superherohype, surprised you didn't come across it].

On a bit of a side note, who would you want to see cast as Gambit? For my money it would have to be Vincent Cassel...he was made for that part.:)

The_Return 03-06-2006 05:35 AM

Never really put much thought into it, but Cassel would be awesome!

Actually I'm surprised I didn't see that too. Maybe I need my glasses?

But I'm o.k. if the sentienals don't show-up. It will still be a good flick.

hellfire1 03-06-2006 10:08 AM

ugh. i'm so fearing this one. ben foster as angel ? talk about a casting error. and directed by brett "rush hour" ratner. why oh why did you leave, bryan singer ??

ah well... he'd better do a hell of a job on superman.

and vincent cassel ? he's not the only french actor out there. my pick for gambit : guillaume canet. remember gambit is supposed to be charming, not scary.

thats a pretty funky type of french

hellfire1 03-06-2006 10:26 AM

haha.. yes, that too.

kung-fu-jesus 03-07-2006 05:03 AM

saw the fox trailer last night, it was bad ass, alot of classic x-men characters are gonna be in this one, the only thing i didnt like is the juggernauts costume, the only armor he had was the helmet( i preffer the body suit). other than that, bad ass.

I'm well aware he's not the only French actor out there.Cassel has a wide range and bears(I think)a striking resemblance to the comic book character we all know and luv.

This is just a pipe dream of mine anyway,in reality if they ever did put him in a possible third installment the part would probably go to some second rate actor or an unknown.

Prelude95Si 03-07-2006 12:53 PM

Comments about the trailer:

1) Looks like Iceman and Kitty Pride are an item now. Personaly I like that better than him and Rogue.
2) I think its clear that this is about the Dark Phoniex storyline b/c Jean sides with Magneto and plus at the end of the trailer Jean tells Logan to kill her (If I remeber correctly thats right out of the comic).
3) Angel looks bad ass.
4) The mutant fight at the end looks great.

Definantly excited about this movie!

really ? i just think he looks creepy as hell. which did him good in the last movie he made here (sheitan ; i really recommend it), but otherwise, can't stand the guy as an actor most of the time. probably all the hype around him over here. *shrugs*

urgeok 03-08-2006 05:19 AM

i really hope it doesnt end after 3.
the thing about movies based on comics - is that they can go on forever - there is no end.

as long as decent directors pick up the series - the problem is when some no budget talentless hack picks up the sequel
for a straight to home video release ...
kind of puts a tarnish on the earlier better efforts.

I'm just afraid of the ever-growing cast. All it takes is one back-out for things to start slipping. If Jackman, Stewart, McKellan or anyone else decides they don't want to do those movies anymore, the franchise is going to take a serious hit.

The_Return 03-08-2006 11:32 AM

***SPOILERS***...or at least they might be spoilers, if the rumors are true*

Supposedly, at least 2 major character will be killed in this so that there is no way they can make another. If heard a ton of rumour about who, but the most consistant is Xavior....

feral cat 03-08-2006 12:30 PM

New trailer looks pretty cool, quite looking forward to this ...

scouse mac 03-08-2006 12:30 PM

Ive heard the dreaded spin-off will be the order of the day once X3 is done with. You just know, despite all hopes, the series will fade into mediocrity which will be a real fucking shame given the strength of it at the moment.

I remeber reading on superherohype.com awhile back that Xavior, Magneto, and Cyclops would all die.

I sure hope not!

Methinks we read the same article:p

However, Ive read on others sites that either Rogue or Wolverine may die as well, which would suck. It wouldnt make sence anyway, because the Wolverine spinoff is already in the works:rolleyes:

lovecraft 03-09-2006 06:37 PM

I heard somewhere that Storm and Logan become an Item and
Storm gets killed and Logan goes beserk.

I wish i could remember where I read that....

Anyoe hear any confirmation on the Omega Red rumors? Id love to see him on film! As the rumor goes, they're changing his story so he's a general in Magneto's army....but still, how cool would that be??

The_Return 03-09-2006 06:43 PM

Just try to tell me that you wouldn't want this in the movie:

Rothman Confirms Wolverine is a Prequel
Source: IESB.net, Diamond Comics March 20, 2006

With Hugh Jackman hinting to Entertainment Weekly that the Wolverine spinoff movie will be a prequel, IESB.net got confirmation from Fox Film Group President Tom Rothman, who said it is indeed.

Also, Hugh Jackman recently alluded that the Wolverine spin off film may be a prequel, how accurate is that? Although he says he will get in trouble if he tells, just between him and her, yes it's a prequel, and that's a scoop!

You can view the video interview at the link above.

Meanwhile, Diamond Comics has a preview of upcoming merchandise for X-Men: The Last Stand. You can view pics and details on Jean Grey’s Phoenix Pendant as well as Xavier's cufflinks and tie tack along with Magneto's collar pin.
