Covers that failed miserably
there had to be a flip side (pardon the pun) to the other thread ...
the most hideous cover i've ever heard .. so bad it made me stop wanting to hear the origional : Tory Amos - Dear God. |
"Personal Jesus" performed by Marilyn Manson shows how a great song can be easily destroyed.
why? |
311's cover of the Cure's "Lovesong" really pissed me off. The worst thing about it is that most of the people who would listen to 311 actually think it's their song.
|
That dude from Shinedown or whatever the fuck the name is, butchering Skynyrd's Simple Man. Every time i heard that come on the radio i wanted to rip my ears off.

Pearl Jam's versions of Dead Moon's Its OK and the Dead Boys' Sonic Reducer.
Guns N' Roses doin' Sympathy For The Devil RHCP's Under The Bridge by All Saints (? - I think it was them some terrible pop band anyways). Rage Against The Machine's version (in fact just about every version of that - except Guitar Wolf's) of Kick Out The Jams. |
...... forgot the Clash's version of I Fought The Law. Utter shit next to the original.
|

oh and that shitty version pearl jam did of Teen Angel or whatever it was (that 50's dead teenager song) it gives me a headache .. |

again .. i hate to misplace my anger ... it aint vedder, its the fans. if these easy-to-please lacklustre suckers didnt support his garbage it would just be another unheard disc sitting in a delete bin somewhere ... |
Scooter cover of Kiss "I was made for loving you"
|
I must also add the Sheryl Crow version of Sweet Child o' mine... sounds so... "I do not what to write, let's steal something".
why? |
Yeh that was a terrible version.
|
Well I liked a few of the ones mentioned here but oh well. A lot of people hate Limp Bizkit's covers of Faith and Behind Blue Eyes (I kind of dig em' for different reasons), also some people don't like Fuel's acoustic cover of Daniel (which I love). Oh, what do you all think about the Three Doors Down version of Imagine?
|
Sex Pistol's cover of "No Fun"

I think there's an answer to the question somewhere in there. Man, I just should've said "yeah." |
Hey, the worst cover all time I almost forgot Brittney's cover of I Love Rock and Roll. Anyway, this site's not bad for cover tunes and opinions. http://www.rateitall.com/t-2293-cover-songs.aspx
|
simple plan covered Bad Religion's American Jesus. totally butchered it. AFI covered Last Caress.
My favorites are any song pennywise ever covered, and Fear Factory's cover of Cars. |

so is most of 'Swindle' |

NOFX...Hotel California
Blasphemy!...You can't fuck with Hotel California:mad: |
I think Los Lobos did a Hotel California cover too *shudder*.
|
"The Spaghetti Incident" by GNR should be the alma mater of this topic.
"an I doooon't haaaveeee anythiiingg, an I doooon't haaaaaveeee anythinggg..." GN'R Lies? Yes, they have done! why? |
Quote:
I thought the metallica cover for Last Caress/Green Hell was pretty legit though. |

The Spaghetti Incident has a couple of amazing tracks on it, their version of the New York Dolls' Human Being and Johnny Thunders' You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory are gold. Can't go wrong with their version of the Rocket From The Tombs/Dead Boys track Ain't it Fun. But holy shit Axl's fake English accent on the UK Subs cover?! Utter shit. |
type o's version of - summer breeze.
what a gay version that was....LOL |

i also find them insufferable ... especially that song. put it on a raft with Stairway to Heaven in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean ... and sink it .. |
A1 : Take on me
