Brilliant - as always Zomb! - My preference shifts with the weather - in warmer weather I prefer Labatt Blue Light - Crisp & refreshing! In colder weather (i.e. NOW) I like thicker beers - I quite like Sarnac's Black and Tan but even their Amber has a good warm tone to it. On the odd occassion I drink Guinness - which I like but, to be perfectly honest, it tends to give me horrible flatulence (loud and stinky!). There also used to be a great regional beer called Ithaca Amber, but it seems to have gone out of production. Ahh well. What I hate are most American mass-manufactured beers (coors, whose politics I also loathe). Call me a snob (in UK, for our brit friends, I was always partial to Bitter and used to really like Brains from Cardiff) |
Wow..... You seem to be quite knowledgable about beer, much more than I.:)
|
ask my liver - or should i say - what's left of it
|
Miller is a very tasty cheap beer. Guiness Stout is also good. And there is a Tahitian beer called Hinano that is gooood on a hot day.
|
I had a great Czech beer called, but not to be mistaken with, "BudWeiser" - when I had it in Prague it was amazing. . . but then I found it in the US and it didn't taste as good. I assume this had something to do with US bottling regulations (or maybe just the travel time)

Nice thread.........best thread i've ever seen.
When i was a young beer noob i drank mostly Budweiser.I found it clean, refreshing and most importantly...consistent. While all my friends drank Miller i stuck by my Bud.Then about 8 to 10 years ago, i found micro-brews. "What have i been missing"...i thought to myself. It opened up a whole new world of beer drinking to me. Now that i'm older i don't drink half as much [ gotta watch the waist-line...and the liver,as zero pointed out ] but every weekend i will treat myself to a fine brew. Some of my favs My avatar...Arrogant Bastard Ale Long Trail Double Bag Ale Sam Adams Winter Lager [seasonal] Sam Adams Octoberfest [seasonal ] Dog Fish Head 60 minute Ale Dog Fish Head 90 minute Ale [a bit stronger] Gritty's Christmas Ale [seasonal ] Bear Republic-Hop Rod Rye Ale Three Floyds-Robert The Bruce Scottish Ale Sierra Celebration Ale [seasonal] Bear Republic- Racer 5 IPA On occasion i will also indulge in some Becks or Harpoons and once again.....i'm thirsty.....thanks a bunch zombi:mad: |
a fine fine thread indeed!
where does one begin? first off i don't waste time with macros(bud, miller, coors etc.)they lack both taste and quality. imports(czech) czechvar rebel pilsnor-uquell belgium(trappist ale) chimay(red and blue) westmalle tripel ....too many to name. in the u.s.(micros) victory's golden monkey, storm king stout, hop wallop, prima pils, old horizontal and hop devil. anderson valley's brother david double, summer soltice, winter soltice, oatmeal stout and ipa weyerbacher's blithering idiot, merry monks ale and old heathen bell's oberon ale and two hearted ale dogfish head's 60 and 90 minute ipa, shelter pale ale, reason for life, chicory stout, currant and india brown ale troeg's troegenator, hopback, dreamweaver and pale ale mind you these are but a few...i love this stuff. |
I haven't had very many types of beer, being under 21 and all. But there will always be a soft spot in my heart for Bud Light.
|
I enjoy microbrews, but lots of times I end up drinking shit b/c it's cheap and I like gettin fucked up. I drink the cheapest they got when in bars (usually) b/c the beer I like the taste of is usually like $3 apiece and up.
I guess my favorite stuff would be: Anchor (anything. Porter, Steam, etc.) Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Beamish Murphy's (red and stout) Old Peculier Guinness (only in the tall cans with the widget) I guess none of these are really "microbrews," but we don't get a lot of selection down here in the deep. I can drink pretty much anything. From Schlitz (in the brown can, not the malt liquor) to PBR, from Natural Light to the Beast, I can down em all with equal fervor. |
Well I started with Coors Light, but then I realized that I care what strangers on a forum think of me, so I stopped. Then it was Killian's Irish Red, before I realized it was owned by Coors.
Now I drink Rogue, specifically Dead Guy Ale. Good shtuff. And apparently, since I'm not 30, I'm not ALLOWED to drink MGD. Who the hell thought that was a good marketing campaign? |
oh - i almost forgot my old favorite from my homestate

Ive recently been drinking an Italian lager Nastro Azzuro but been trying and failing to find some Polish lagers here in the UK. Went over there for a long weekend and they had some very nice brews. |
There's also this beer my rich stuck up friends introduced me to last year which is quite tasty: Dos Equis.
It's not expensive or anything. Now I want a beer. |
Great thread by the way!

The thing about Miller: I ONLY like Miller High Life.
I tried the other ones, Genuine Draft, etc., but they're not the same. They taste overly bitter, and not in a good way like Guiness. Regular Miller High Life, The Champagne of Beers, that is what I used to drink back in the day when I drank a lot of beer, a decent night was 32 ounces of that and a small bottle of vodka, very good for working late into the night. Ooooooh I'm not supposed to think about that anymore. That was a long time ago, you know! |
Sam Adams and Rogue.

Speaking of "beer snob" , i joined a "beer site" on the web, just to get different views on different beers. Now i thought i liked beer but these fucking people are obsessed with beer. You should read some of their reviews......hold on......let me get one...... "Poured from the bottle into a pub glass. Appearance: The beer pours a clear amber coloration. The head was light honey coloration. Minimal lacing left behind on the glass. Smell: A nice fruity malty introduction going to piney spicy hops. Taste: The beer leads in with a slightly butter bready maltyness. This gives way to some citrus and then finally to the spicy hops. Mouthfeel: The beer is light bodied plus. Slightly oily feeling to the palate." See what i mean.....these people give WAY to much thought to beer drinking. |

When I was a wee youngin, and well underage (12 to be exact) I was introduced to Budweiser and swore by it for years. When I got about 17 I branched out and tried anything. College opened my eyes to alot of shit that I hadn't drank before. Anyways, Below I'll list some of the beers I drink.
Guiness Corona Budweiser Bud Light Dos Equis Miller High Life Bush Light(When you're poor, you can't beat a 30 pack for 12 bucks.) Killian's Irish Red Fosters I know I've had and liked some imported mexican beers, but for the life of me I cannot rememebr their names. It was a few years back when I lived in the south. [Edit] Damn you all...............I just got to work, it's 1:07 in the afternoon, and blowing snow like a motherfucker outside. Now all I can think about is beer.......Good thing I already got myself put on the go home early list. Here's to hoping I get to go home at lunch. |
