Anyone who has a DVD burner

I need help :(

I've been burning DVD's using this complicated way that my friend told me, using programs called DVD shrink, IFO editor, and DVD decrypter. I'd made a few dvd's liek this and I was all proud of myself until..... I copied a dvd that had no encryption on it and it was missing the last two chapters, and now my first disc after that I've tried 3 times unsuccessfully to copy it. It won't play at all when I burn it.

Any ideas on what I could do?

I myself use DVD Shrink and Nero. I don't usually have any problems.

lmao. I just downloaded Nero and I got the one that didn't work in three tries to work. The bad news is that one of them that didn't is still in my dvd player and I can't get it out! It just keeps reading no matter how many times I press eject :(

newb 01-05-2006 08:50 AM

Could be a bad disk.....reboot.

Taom 01-05-2006 08:53 AM

Step one: Unplug the player, then plug it back in and hit the eject button. The problem with most set top dvd players is that they will work with some brands of dvdr's and not others. I have a few in my living room and have been experimenting with each one to see which brands it likes. If the dvd is succesfully burned, try it out on your pc, if this works then most likely your set top player does not like this brand.

As far as nero, how did you download it? are you using a demo, bought copy, or *gasp* one obtained by other means?

I use DVD Shrink all the time, and it generally handles my needs. When it doesn't, DVD Decrypter should do the rest. Nero is excellent for burning, I also use ImgBurn, another free program.

Also, since you are new to DVD burning, search on Google for DVD burning forums. There are plenty around, full of people who have been doing this for years.

Taom is correct.

Here is a good one.

Is it a Magnovox or Phillips? [ same company]

I bought a DVD RECORDER [ MAGNOVOX ] that did that to me recently [ its still stuck in the player] EFFING PIECE OF SHIT

I picked up a nice Panasonic recorder that works fine.

Before we write off the player;
when you unplug it and plug it back in;
immedietly hit the eject button franticly, or try plugging it back in, and hitting the stop button just before or during the time when the player tries to load.

haha I'm soo close to that.

Taom: I tried unplugging it and frantically pushing the eject button. I'm going to try again, I'm leaving it unplugged for 10 minutes instead of 1... Probably won't help but I'll try.

Newb:It's a JVC.

I'm trying to open it up but I've found 12 screwdrivers and none of them were the star one. :mad:

edit: found one, screws are impossible to get out though. This is so maddening...

There are three kinds of screwdrivers: the star one, flat head, and the square one. ;) I do know that the star one is either Robertson or Phillips... I like my descriptive names better anyway, not my fault they don't put names on them :mad:

I'm off to throw the DVD player off a bridge now because most of the damn screws won't come out. :mad:

I know it's an x shape, but when you look at it from the top it looks like a star. Yes, I know I suck at screwdrivers but that's not what this is about! This is about me sucking with DVD players. :p

I got it. I opened up the casing, unlodged the DVD and dragged the it out from the back. Not so stupid now with my star screwdriver now, huh?

Thanks for the help, guys. :)

The STE 01-05-2006 04:09 PM

could've just gotten a regular screwdriver of pocket knife and pried the door open manually.

I actually did try that after I called a guy at a videostore and he told me that I could pry as much as I wanted and not worry about breaking anything. However, I tried it and got scared because I was really pulling and it didn't seem like it was going to come past a certain point.
