Day of the Dead 2: Contagium
So the other day I was in the video store, and stumbled across this movie. Now, this is not a Romero sequel, but the back labeled it as 'paying homage' to the orginal Day. Now I am a huge fan of Romero's dead series, so I decided to pick this up. Was I ever disappointed. The concept of the movie was excellent, but the presentation sucked. I don't want to ruin it for those who may not have seen it, but for those of you who have what are you thoughts on this?

I haven't seen it yet and I'm hoping it will be released over here cause its not a film I rreally wanna pay a lot of money to see.
You're usually in for a bad run if a film is a sequel to a sequel.... i.e Class Of 1999 II: The Subsitute. .....but maybe I'd be down with it could have a comci book vibe to it (like it keeps the Day Of The Dead world alive cause that could be quite interesting). Any of the same actors n' shit as the original? - yes I'm to lazy to look it up :) |
No, none of the same actors. It is set in Pennsylvania and it happens 37 years after Day left off. Also, it is straight to DVD release.

Much gore? Decent zombie make up/effects?

Never are these things worth your time, or your money. Post-modern zombie films, homages, indie efforts... don't build your hopes up, you will be invariably disappointed. The only good thing about wasting your hard earned dollars on shite films, is the determination it gives you to abandon Blockbuster and seek out underground exploitation a million miles more genuine and innovative than this vapid mainstream bollocks. |

Hey, i didn't waste my money...i had a free rental at West Coast video...so i did however waste that, but i did also copy it!
|

|
I'm still gonna check it out and will probably copy it myself.
|

Im so embarrised that they made this. *hangs head in shame*

Watched this, and agreed it totally sucks......
except..... for pure moments of comedy genius - granted not on purpose but I nearly peed my pants at the following: Bald headed Doctor with clip board and bow tie who has been to the only official School Of Bad Acting TM in the world with his specialist subjects on How to Carry a Clipboard and bad accents. Love it when the psychologist guy is sat in front of him looking like a bloody mess on the turn and he says about 10 mins into conversation - "are you feeling alright?" ROTF! Also If you do watch this look out for the zombie in the medicine que she has the following zombie movement, Limp, twitch, yawn she then forgets and fiddles with her hair, then looks like she has just remembered she is in a zombie movie and returns to her limp, twitch, yawn method acting. Havent laughed so much in ages! Nursey xxx |
I used a free rental on it as well, made a VCD and still haven't watched it all yet. Likely never will. Any time a movie has to show a crappier horror film being watched on tv by characters, you know it's bad (that and most likely it is an older movie by same filmmakers as a half-ass joke to themselves- pathetic).

Just watched it last night. ACk! Horrible.
|
They could have done a decent flick with those actors, they just did SO MUCH BACKSTORY, and put their meagre acting chops on display for a ll to inspect. A lot of my fav low budget movies have less than great to terrible acting, but you have to know when to pull back on the pretentiousness
ps. does anyone know how the hell they got the sequel rights (i understand romero doesn't own them)? |
favorite scene in this movie is when they all puke this black shit all over their food, and continue eating without a word spoken. so retarded.
|
I rented this at blockbuster a while ago. i watched 5 minutes of it and ripped it out of my xbox. gave it to my friend and he copied it. so i have a copy of it but i havent watched it yet... i didnt expect much from it anyways
