looking for a title and the DVD if possible

I need your help.... I have searched IMDB looking for a movie from most likely the 70's I thought it was " Don't go in the basement" but the plot isn't right. The main subject was a woman named "Sarah" or " sara" she was trapped by these shrunken little creatures in a house, they were afraid of only light.... they torture her by striking at her from dark corners... in the end she uses a flash bulb to sacre them away for as long as possible.... I was 8 - 10 when I saw this... what an impression it had for a B movie.... Can someone help me find it? thanks

"Don't Be Afraid of The Gate in the Dark Basement"

I caught that one when I was a kid too. Surprisingly scary shit. Is it on DVD? The only movie that scared me more when I saw it at that age was Hellraiser. Neither one's all that appropriate for a seven year old come to think of it. But, anyway, it is I believe Don't be Afraid of the Dark. The Gate is from the 80's I believe. I was under the impression that the Gate was a kid friendly romp in the same vein as the Monster Squad.

you are right it was a kid friendly romp( the Gate), I also agree as A kid only Amityville horror and then Hellrasier scared me the same way.... by the way anyone seen "Saturday the 14th" lately is it on DVD yet? That was funny as a kid anyway. Oh and no " Don't be afraid of the dark" is no where to be seen on DVD.... Yet... there is information available out there about a re-make supposed to be made in 2005.... but nothing concrete that I could find. But it was an ABC made for TV movie so now I guess Disney must own the rights and since disney has been twitchy lately well who knows if they will ever re-release it... Here's to hopeing!!!:)

I still love it...but after 3 different threads where I felt the need to explain myself?

They're remaking that movie. Just to tell you two diehard fans.

Go to movies.com and search it, it's being remade under the same title.

Don't be afraid of the dark ... has not had an official DVD release, which is a shame it's a great movie.

You can find this on ebay for anywhere from $1.99 for the dvd up to $149.99 for a vhs tape. It has had a foreign release as a cult classic collection piece. Be warned buying from ebay though, alot of the listings for this paticular dvd are burned copies and home made. I ordered one a couple of nights ago. Not sure if it's an original yet though. Only time and postage will tell. Oh! And don't bother buying from amazon, the starting price on a vhs tape for this movie is $37.00 and goes on up to $299.99.
