If you could....would you?

Haven't made a thread in a while...so yeah, here's a new one.
Just want to see if we can make it last for a 'lil while.
Two questions, I guess kinda semi-horror related.
Answer and discuss.

1: I've often wondered this myself - If human flesh were cloned, eg - flesh only - no "brains" just random bits and peices.
Assuming it was legal to do so, and mass produced as a foodstuff, would you venture to try it?
~I'm all for experimentation myself, and have to say that as long as I wasn't eating "someone", I'd be quite ok with it. I mean, if they're growing flesh, I imagine they could also engineer it to have less fat and more muscle, maybe even make it boneless, who knows.
How would human taste, I wonder?
Would we go well in a curry, sliced cold in a sandwich, or grilled on a bbq? (I know we'd sure have nice sets of ribs...)
Maybe they could make a new kinda sashimi out of us?
If you told someone to go eat a dick...would they take it literally?
Anyway, my answer in short - Yes, I'd at least try it.

2: Pet cloning.
It's been explored in one or two movies, and, I'm sure we all have dreams about our friends lost over the years...so, if you could keep a blood sample, and simply have a new one cloned when your old one died...would you do it?
This ones a little more difficult to answer for me...I've lost some GREAT pets, and it's ripped me to shreds every time.
If I were to clone any of them, sure...I mean, it'd be nice to think that you had an identical LOOKING animal around, but it wouldn't be the same animal, would it?
However, I assume it would also be likely to share a lot of common behavioural attributes, and intelligence levels of its predecessor, and therefore if you were happy with the first one, the second one would seem a nearer substitute than a "new" animal...would that be enough to keep someone happy, or would they miss the old pet more?
hmmm....pondering....I dunno on this one. There's too many as yet unknown factors.
I'm all for making it legal to do this, but I'm not sure if I'd be a fn of the process. I suppose I'd be willing to give it a try just to see what it was like, and base any further decisions on that outcome, so yeah....

There you go, discuss.
Also, feel free to add any other "?" topics you've put some thought towards in your time.

i'd like to be able to clone myself to keep transplanting my brain and shoot for immortality .... but i have no sesire to eat human flesh.

i cant even eat fresh tomatoes

Haphazard 08-01-2005 05:49 AM

This is one sick post.

It just may work! lol.

1. I am not adventurous when it comes to eating habits, so there is no way in hell I could tear into some human flesh.

2. No.

(Why did I even bother replying to this post? I'm so boring...lol).

Kemal 08-01-2005 06:52 AM

I think cannibalism results in some kind of major nervous system disorder, so the taboo against it has some practical basis.

filmmaker2 08-01-2005 08:06 AM

If a dog and a cat mated, and the baby looked half like a dog and half like a cat, would you like to have it as a pet? What would you feed it? Would you mix dog food and cat food together? And would the animal try to chase itself? And not being able to chase itself, do you think it would go into fits and just kind of writhe around, flopping?

ItsAlive75 08-01-2005 08:14 AM

I'd clone my pet probably 7 to 8 times to see if it develops different personalities like Multiplicity.

Y'know, there'd be the retarded dog, the evil dog who tries to steal my girl, and the slightly homosexual dog.

Marroe 08-01-2005 09:27 AM

The flesh thing...no way. I really don't think I could do that. I have trouble still with most things that are actaully edible. I'm 22 years old, and have yet to even eat a mushroom.

The idea of cloning a pet IS kinda cool, but I think I'd rather keep my pets memories, rather than try and replace them. I know there are other animal babies out there I could love just as much (not more) as my dead animals. It may sound kinda silly, but I don't think I'm emotionally ready to think about cloning of anything close to me.

I don't know - - - but I bet it'd be delicious - yummy yummy

dodge50 08-01-2005 02:47 PM

If you could clone human flesh then by rationalisation you could clone animal flesh, as genetically animals are easier to clone (hence Dolly). So unless a tribe of cannibals were able to develop cloning technology....why would you want to clone human when you could clone a cow?

But to answer you, I'll eat anything for hours, as my girlfriend will testify :D

OOOH FACED!:D

Elvis_Christ 08-01-2005 04:10 PM

The whole human flesh as a foodstuff sounds pretty disturbing to me. I don't think I'd try it. But I doubt they'd tell us what it was anyway it'd just be some cheap form of unidentifyable mincemeat.

meetthecreeper 08-01-2005 04:17 PM

Question 1. yes on rye.

Question 2. yes but only if they were brought back with a n evil spirit in them.

I need some excitement.

1) No way, not in a million damn years. I mean, for fuck sake, eating human flesh???? Come on...............!!!!

2) About the whole little pet thingy........................I have two words....................PET SEMETARY. Thats all there is to say about that. ;) :p

1.) As for human flesh...no way. I've recently developed an aversion to chicken for some reason...and since I imagine that's what human flesh might taste like...I'm going to pass. However, even if my aversion passes...it'd still be a nay for me with regard to eating flesh ;)

2.) I'm going to say no to this as well...b/c you're right...while it may look like the same animal...it's not REALLY the same animal...besides which, eventually that animal will die....and so then would you clone it again? Seems like a vicious cycle ;) Could get kind of psychotic after a while or something.:p

ENTITY2000 08-02-2005 12:01 AM

That's how mad cow disease had started. If human flesh was cloned, I would assume that the possability of nervous system disorder would still be present. Given the option of going to McDonald's for a McHuman Burger on a Sunday afternoon or starving in the Andes Mountains after surviving a plane crash, I have 2 different answers.

1) Fuck no, I don't eat beef and only eat pork sometimes. I am a fairly open minded guy and I love too try new and different/unique foods. but Human flesh is for crazy people. I heard of a place where you can buy human parts online, to eat... fuckin' creepy

2) God. I hate pets dying but thats life. And you gotta let go, no matter how much it fucking sucks. If you could keep cloning your pet, you would become ungrateful. "Fluffy will always be here, so I'll play with her tomorrow".

Chicken is the bomb Diggity Fresh!

bwind22 08-02-2005 05:32 AM

Re: If you could....would you?

1. Since it is flesh only, with no brain or organ of any type connected to it... And the flesh was manmade... How would you even know if it was human flesh? It was never connected to a human so what makes it human flesh? Wouldn't it just be a piece of meat that someone made?

I've eaten Spam before, which very well could have been human flesh for all I know, so I'd probably eat some synthetic flesh if I was hungry enough. (Since I don't think I'd consider it "human" flesh being that it never belonged to a human.)

Like Sadistro, if stranded in the Andes after a plane crash, I'd probably consider eating some genuine 'human' flesh. Survival of the fittest ya know?

2. Nope. Nothing against it really. I just dont really like animals.

Yeah, mad cow disease is a direct result of cannabalism. It even occurs in humans. Check out the African and South American tribes that still practice it.

1. I'm all for adventuring in food, but I'd definitly pass up on human flesh. It'd make me too quesy to eat it.

2. Yes. Though it wouldn't exactly be the same pet, I'd at least feel like I have my old pal back. It'd be hard to do emotionally though.

Sometimes when I'm asleep, my leg kicks. I have no control over it, it just starts going. I've tried wearing socks or wrapping it in a blanket, but the bastard keeps kicking!
