Cemetaries...discuss. Scary or cool? Or both maybe? ;)

I'm gonna have to go with both.
I actually like looking at really old headstones, etc.

I guess cemetaries are alot cooler when you're looking around them than when you're buried in them though ;)

Wow...Your mother was born in a cemetery?...My, that's interesting :p ...I'm just messin' with ya...

But...How about 'interesting' for one of your options as opposed to 'scary' or 'cool'?...

I find cemeteries interesting, especially the old ones...I read the headstones, and figure out the ages of the people who are buried there...When it is a child, I often wonder what happened to them...Sometimes you'll see a parent and a child buried on the same day, and think 'maybe car wreck?'....I've seen up to 6 members of the same family buried in the same year, makes me wonder 'cholera?'...For me it's a bit of a study in human history...Although, reading headstones is supposed to be 'bad luck'...I come from a superstitious lineage...Oh well...:)

Marroe 05-30-2005 01:14 AM

Ohhh..I gotta get this pic scanned. I was at the World Trade Center site in July of 2002...and ya know how across from the site there's the memorials? anyways, I peeked behind one of the banners and there was this real old cemtery there, and from the looks of it, it was being moved...they were digging up graves!!!! yeah, it was creepy lookin and I took pictures.

Interesting works too ;) Yeah I do the same thing...I always wonder who the people were, etc....what their lives were like.

Nyder 05-30-2005 02:32 AM

Born in a cemetary?! What a great place to be born! :D

Cemetaries freak me out because it reminds me of death, and my own impending death. It's sad because you have to wonder; why do people have to die?

jeffers 05-30-2005 02:56 AM

well in a cemetery near me there is an angel that has read tears coming out of its eyes

urgeok 05-30-2005 06:07 AM

i dont think cemetaries are cool or scary.

(i think they are a huge waste o space myself.

that being said i appreciate a lot of the older carvings, etc ...
and the ones they show in new orleans are funky ..

but i just dont understand why everyone isnt cremated.

Nyder 05-30-2005 07:32 AM

It's out of respect, urgeok. That's why they don't just get rid of them in the most convenient way possible just to save space! Geez, what are you an economist?

(he he, the newb strikes back :D )

The Mothman 05-30-2005 07:38 AM

sometimes the really old cemeterys are cool. Sometimes they having funny stories of how someone died on it, like "Choked on a pea" (That was one that I actually saw)

respect is how you treat someone when they are alive ...
i dont think they give a shit when they are a lifeless corpse.

year 2005 and we're still as barbaric as ever.

Haunted 05-30-2005 08:09 AM

I grew up with a cemetary at the top of my street. Twas a really old one too. (Well as old as you can get burying white people in the USA. Our British friends might scoff, and rightly so).

Anyway... It was the first place I ever smoked pot. It was also a cool reserve for graveyard dirt...a delightful but morbid magickal component.

I really don't want to be rude...but why do I feel like your posts are always filled with complete BS? ;) I feel like you make statements to try and shock people on here or something, but you over do it a little. If you're going to lie, at least do it better than that ;)

Yeah, that's true too. I feel the same way when I have to go to a wake...you just sit there and look at the body and realize that one day you're going to be the body that everyone is looking at;)

Yeah...I may not have a wake... ;)

ItsAlive75 05-30-2005 11:32 AM

I'm not having a wake, and my cemetary is gonna be held in a gymnastics school when they're having a class. Then they'll just throw me in a lawn bag and call it a day.

That's so beautiful *sniff sniff* ;)

Sablecat 06-09-2005 01:36 AM

Knowing my relatives I'll probably buried with my legs poking up out of the ground.
Strange that some of the cemetaries I've been to have great views, the one near my grandparents town overlooks a beach.

meetthecreeper 06-09-2005 09:29 AM

When I travel I like to take pics. of graveyards and such.

I should put them all in a book and sell it, somebody will buy that shit.

There's a market group for ANYTHING. I could make a video of a baby eating another baby, and I guarantee some shmucks would fork over their hard-earned dollars for it.

ferrit666 06-09-2005 10:16 AM

urgeok 06-09-2005 11:34 AM

maybe he was referring to Orsom Wells ..

electrode 06-10-2005 03:10 AM

Cemetaries are total goth magnets. My grandfather owns one, and I lurk around and try to bang all the highschool goth girlys that come around to express their "inner death".

tic 06-10-2005 12:41 PM

In Glasgow, recently I noticed that there is a cemetry right in the middle of a housing estate - Tollcross Rd, East end.

I studied Env Management at a Uni (yes I did go to school), part of which covered Env. Law. I always assumed that houses shouldn't be built on top of cemetries? Planning Laws etc

Has no one ever seen Poltergiest, for gods sake?

no - because they dont exist ..

tic 06-10-2005 01:30 PM

I meant the film - houses built on cemetaries lead to scary * I think not* goings on with your tv set.

Wicked Lady 06-10-2005 01:32 PM

I don't ever want to be in a cemetary, I have a weird problem with spirit paranoia...although, I do love pictures of cemetaries

urgeok 06-10-2005 01:33 PM

my house is built on an ancient dump site ..

we have the ghosts of old milk bottles and used bic lady razors moving through the walls.

AUSTIN316426808 06-10-2005 04:29 PM

The one's we have here in New Orleans are cool and creepy but I think of it in a way most people normally wouldn't...

I think they're creepy in the daytime and cool at night.

p.s.
I specified New Orleans because we have tombs instead of graves.
