Well, I listed the Big Three

urgeok 04-30-2005 07:55 PM

i once tried to recall all of the movies i had seen with that plot (stranger in town .. plays two warring sides against each other who are trying to control the town through essential commodities ..

I think i came up with 6 ...

but you really consider Last Man Standing one of the big 3 ?
i dont think more than 10 people saw it ..

now if you want to have fun with lists .. pick all the Shane remakes,,, and Romeo and Juliet ..

The STE 04-30-2005 08:11 PM

big budget, big name lead actor, I'd consider it one of the big three more than any of the other ones

I voted for Fistful of Dollars because Eastwood's in it but I know better, it's Yojimbo.

AUSTIN316426808 05-04-2005 05:09 AM

this thread made me want to watch both of 'em again and after doing so I think they're both about the same.

most serious fans who seek out excellent films will inevitably discover that the best films are foreign films .. and when they do - before long they will discover Akira Kurosawa ... one of the finest filmmakers in the world.

Have to admit..I'm not a Akira Kurosawa expert...havent seen many of his movies....
...but since your in to foreign films..The only Norwegian movie I can "recommend" is "Hotel St. Pauli" (1988)..Its not horror...more a absurd drama....but they talk in Norwegian and its being slaughtered by critics everywere...I'm not saying its a masterpiece but it's one of the best Norwegian movies..that not saying much....
