Battle of the Century

this is between John Travolta and Nicholas Cage. I just relized recently that I really dont like John Travolta.....he sucks. What has He ever done for me, one semi-good movie (Micheal) and thats it. I think Nicholas Cage is waaaaay better then John Travolta. His acting is far better and so is his movie. So what is your pick on the two bizzaro actors (even the number of letters in there names are backwards). Me Im totally going with Nicholas on this one.

ENTITY2000 04-25-2005 07:32 PM

personally ilike john he was so sexxy in face/off!
i loved the way his character changed into the bad guy!
"POPPA'S GOTTA BRAND NEW BAG"

ItsAlive75 04-25-2005 07:43 PM

Face/Off suuuuuuuuucked

You don't need to do like, 3 backflips to shoot a gun. Just stand there and shoot the damn thing.

Stupid John Woo does that in EVERY movie. Windtalkers was a WAR movie, and there's soldiers doing spins and somersaults and shit... Unnecessary.

Marroe 04-25-2005 07:43 PM

Nick Cage

ENTITY2000 04-25-2005 07:48 PM

some people like it some don't opinions are like assholes
everybody has one!

The STE 04-25-2005 07:51 PM

two words: Pulp Fiction. I've only seen 3 Nick Cage movies I've liked (Adaptation, Bringing Out the Dead, and Matchstick Men), and none of them are as good as Pulp Fiction. It's not even close. Sure, Cage hasn't been in anything as bad as Battlefield Earth, but, then, he's doing Ghost Rider.

You didn't like Family Man??

The STE 04-25-2005 08:03 PM

no

knife_fight 04-25-2005 08:19 PM

I like Raising Arizona as much as I like Pulp Fiction. but, I mean, Nicholas Cage was in Con Air (imo one of the worst movies ever made). although I haven't seen Michael, I did see Look Who's Talking Now and I know that it's awful as well.

I voted for J.T. just b/c I think Nick Cage is faking his weirdness, but John Travolta is a Scientologist.

urgeok 04-25-2005 08:35 PM

i like them both ..

John Travolta is a very solid actor - so is Cage

i cant choose...

Elvis_Christ 04-25-2005 08:44 PM

Both are great actors who have done some amazing films aswell as some dog shit.

I think I'd go with Cage because of his preformances in Leaving Las Vegas and Wild at Heart.

bwind22 04-25-2005 09:11 PM

These are all their big movies. (I'm not saying I liked them all. I'm just naming them for the benefit of others to consider when making their decisions.)

(*) = Movies that I liked.

Neither of them have done a good movie in a while. Cage has done more movies I liked in quantity, but the ones Travolta did that I like are so much cooler than Cage's best.

Pulp Fiction and Get Shorty > Adaptation and Raising Arizona

In my honest opinion, I think Cage's best movie is probably Face/Off. Although, I really enjoy that first continuous camera sequence in Snake Eyes and the multiple perspectives aspect of that movie....

Either way, I voted for Travolta. Pulp Fiction owns anything Cage has done and in my opinion, so does Get Shorty. (Plus I wrote a letter to Travolta after the first time I saw Pulp Fiction and he sent me an autographed picture in the mail. Nick Cage never sent me jack shit!)

dantehorrorfan 04-25-2005 09:20 PM

john travolta would so smoke nicholas cage

Hate_Breeder 04-25-2005 09:27 PM

John Travolta is a bad ass...... Cage plays a semi retarded character in every movie it seems like

Enough said

ShankS 04-25-2005 09:27 PM

cage..... just

Sedated_replica 04-25-2005 10:28 PM

Nicholas Cage is a horrible actor but John Travolta smokes HUGE penis. He is garbage and belongs in a trash can with his air plane.

Both actors suck. But come on! Nick Cage would beat his ass. hands down, beat down

Cage / Round 1 by Bitch slap KO

bwind22 04-25-2005 10:31 PM

This isn't supposed to be who would win in a fight, is it?

MY thoughts exactly...
You just have to watch Pulp Fiction to see how good John Travolta is - mind you, everyone in the movie is amazing...the movie itself is a fucking masterpiece

urgeok 04-26-2005 05:32 AM

John Travolta has been in some junk movies .. but he's still a very solid and watchable actor .. he has a real charm/charisma that goes beyond Saturday Night Fever or Michael.

I thought Face Off was a mint film and showcased what both of these guys were capable of beautifully. (the movie is an actors dream ..switch from goodguy to villian)

i'd never judge an actors ability by a shitty film .. just by his performance.

i said in my 1st post i couldnt choose ... too tough for me.
they've both given gret performances in great films and good performances in so-so films ..

they both do comedy, drama, and action equally well ...

impossible for me to choose .. and i wond do it based on who is in more bad movies (I blame the directors/writers/editors for that)

Damn! I thought I was going to learn a new saying :(
"Dude... he's like so fuckin' garage man"

I really enjoyed Face/Off it was a great overblown in your face style action movie. John Woo kicks ass I'm waiting on a copy of Hard Target (heaps of people hate this movie but I think its one of last really good late 80s - early 90s style action movie) to arrive which was the first Woo movie I ever saw. I love his over the top violence and far fetched crazyness.

Did Cage win an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas? - I was trying to remember this yesterday. Has Travolta won an Oscar for anything (not that oscars mean shit I was just wondering).

IDrinkYourBlood 04-26-2005 04:02 PM

Im pretty sure he did win one for Leaving los Vegas, it was so garage.
