People
I'm wondering what you guys think about the people in our world: The people you see at the mall, in the market, just....everywhere?
I've set up this little poll to sort of quantitate the general goodwill or misanthropic hag-i-ness (like moi). So, be good lab rats (that are never tested on, but only asked for their opinions). |
people are basically decent even though most people are fucking retarted im not saying metally either just what they do is retarded
|
I don't know.... I think its too easy too generalize people. Because all people are different and some people fit into two or three different categories. you know?
I believe we are all stupid and ignorant... Just too a different degree. As humans we all think we are smarter and better than other's. but in reality, We're no greater or different. We are all equal. If we think we are so superior, we are no better than the asshole that thinks that about you.... just equal |
I hate people.

we are all part of the blanket

people are born greedy .. its a survival mechanism .. we are driven to need to eat constantly from the second we leave the womb.
as we grow and are taught and guided, we learn to only take what we need and share - to become a part of a community. well, thats what's supposed to happen. But for the most part we remain greedy - we always take more than we need. We stab each other in the back at work, we rob, rape, murder, stalk, lie, litter, make war, destroy the planet, do every manner of fucking stupidity in every size and shape. so basically i think people are shit. This is a generalization .. there are always exceptions - but unfortunately - just like the news only reports the negative - the assholes and scum make the majority of the impact on our planet. I believe that there is a tiny % of people born good ... they couldnt be bad if they tried ... their brains are finewired to perfection - chemically overbalanced. There is a slightly larger % of the population born bad .. the opposite of the good people for the opposite reason. These people are incapable of being good. They are sick. The rest of the population that make the vast majority are pretty much in the middle .. leaning one way or the other depending on the upbringing, the influences ... their strength as people. As it is alway easier to give into the imbedded feelings of greed deep within us - most people tend to be bad. Some use religion to try to be good (the ones that buy into the fear of eternal damnation - bad karma - whatever) but even then its a struggle and they find themselves commiting horrible acts in the name of their religion. The people who stay good usually have small failings but are strong enough to keep up the good fight. This is a pitifully small minority. Thats why the world is a fucking nightmare. If i sound like a pessimist - i'm not. I'm a realist. If i was a pessimist i would never have wanted a child. I feel we can raise him to be a good person.. I've already seen that he is wired right - full of love.. Now we just have to hope he doesnt get twisted along the way by the strong influences of unsavory characters and he gets his chance to make the world a slightly better place ... if by no other way than having his own kids some day and raising them to be good as well.. |
as urge said, is my opinion also, but I have a version....
We develop as greedy fetuses, forcing our mother to take drastic life changing measures, to support us and help us uses needed resources. We get born and become even more greedy, needing constant attention, and are resource sapping from all around us. We grow into kids then into young adults, soaking up and using all the resources we can get our hands on. We become adults and enter the top level of greed, that has world changing implications. We then have our own children, to make sure that all the energy and resources this world can provide, will never have a chance to replenish..... it's inevitable... the end will come, when, I can't say, but it's comming simply because of a greed to live. |
human beings are unbelievable ...
the dinosaurs lived for hundreds of millions of years and it took a meteor combined with a couple other natural events to wipe them out. we're going to do it to ourselves before long and we've only been here (in our current form) a few thousand years. The second our primitive brains were able to comprehend and use fire, we were fucked. |
We are like a virus or a plague. Consuming and leaving nothing in our path untouched.
I believe, I was born bad but I want to be a good person. It might not always show here, but I don't want to be evil like some fuckers |

I know a good precentage of you have children and this isnt a stab at them, your desision to have a child or in any way, shape, or form anything other than my opinion but I feel like its a waste to have a child. Generation after generation its the same thing. Eat Sleep Breed Die. I don't think people are greedy or born bad, I think preception has everything to do with how we act and the nature of our character. It just seems pointless to go on. Maybe Im jaded but really in all of our exsistance we haven't masterd much. Personally Im grateful for disease, starvation and genocide. Its a system for balance. It completes the cycle. But then again some days I wake up and am amazed by a little girl who at two can sign and form full sentences, complete ideas and show real live human compasion. And I would never want her to hurt or want for anything. |

Kool topic Haunted, I tend to look at people like this, Lone wolf mentality and Herd mentality.
Most people fall into the Herd mentality, going about their daily lives watching things happen and most of the time not realizing what had just happened. More interest in watching reality shows and what sex Britneys' baby is going to be and so on. These are the folks that get murdered in an alleyway because they thought they were invincible and nothing would ever hurt them or touch them ever. They are kind of disconnected from reality. Then there is the Lone wolf mentality, these are the ones that see things, know whats going on. Most that do know dont want to know or have grown to accept the way things are. If an oppurtunity comes along to change things an attempt will be made, but for the most part we only affect our own little circles. We're the ones that kill the Herd in the alley. Ah fook it, too much over analysis, basically people are jagoff sheep. And I am here to devour them.:D |

there are sheep, wolves, and shepherds - to use your analogy - i think it is far more noble and rewarding to be a shepherd. There's a reason that wolves are an endangered species ... |

Not me, the sheep are too damn stupid except to be led to a slaughter. Remember Clarice, tried to let the spring lambs free and what did they do? Huddled in the corner and screamed. You are right that there is a majority of violence going on in the home and its a shame, but rarely are there not warning signs. The sheeple need to see the warning signs, I cant tell you the number of times I have been in a situation that I got out of just based on being able to see the signs. By the way, in North America,(I dont know about Canada) the Timberwolf is making a major comeback. (Not to toot my own horn but, thanks to people like me) I would have to check but I do believe that they were taken off the endangered list and possibly the threatened list. |

they are the major means for us to make a difference. There are other subtler ways .. by being a strong good person that might influence others in a small way ... the challenge is that while i'm trying to bring up my kid right, there are 500,000 other people in my city alone who are incapable and/or dont give a shit. One of their kids may some day point a gun at my kid because they didnt like the way he looked at him. I think your analogy of a wolf/superior individual is more suited for the shepherd anyway ... if you're sure you have what it takes, then its better to be a leader than a loner. As much as i think the world is filled with stupid uncaring dangerous people - i still meet a few from time to time that make the ride worth it. i have a shitpile of movies to watch, a house full of music to listen to and books to read .. and a family i want to see grow up .. I have countries i want to visit, oceans i want to scuba dive in, a lot of shit i want to do, It wouldnt serve me to quit on the world yet .. |
People are something else. Lets say you have a group of happy people. Um, about five people. You put one mean, drama causing person into the mix. About less than one month later, all the happy people are bitter people, and they go out into the world where they intigrate into other pockets of happiness, bleeding it dry. Then, there is no happiness anywhere!
|
5 stupid people maybe ..
a smart person cuts the asshole out of his/her life .. its like having an anchor tied around your neck. |
If you work with that person though, it's a little difficult to cut them out of your life. It's amazing how one person can cause such a funk.

We've told her. The problem is, she happens to be a supervisor and she has the boss in her pocket. She would hang around just to be spiteful.

IMO the best thing to do is cut her out of your circle of life, pretend she isnt there. Sooner than you think she will be gone, people like this live for drama, without they cant live. |

I havent given up on the rest of the world either regardless of my cynical attitude. I often feel like I was meant for something better than this, but where to begin. I have to say Urgeok, it would be interesting to know you in real life. You sound like someone with a good head on their shoulders. That is something that seems to be lacking around here. |
Or, make freinds with her, then go out for some drinks...
It's amazing how many drunks get into all kinds of "accidents". |
There are a few people here that I would like to meet in person, that seem to have a good head on their shoulders and are, in general, "good" people. I also try not to be cynical, but I've been shit on so much in my life that it's a little difficult sometimes. Then I come across people (like urge) who restore my faith in humanity. In all, I'm very glad I joined this website. I've had some great laughs, sometimes at someone else's idiocy, but for the most part everyone has been enjoyable. I've even learned a few things. I love it when a movie I've never heard of comes up - I go to Netflix's website and see if they have it. Plus, I love the fact that there's so many Hammer fans out there. For the longest time I thought I was the only one in the world.

well, thanks ... i dont think its anything other than common sense though - you'd like to hope that someone in their 40's would be a little wiser - picking up some knowledge along the way .. the trick is to keep your eyes open and pay attention. and dont forget to let the inner goof free from time to time :D |
Men In Black, of all Movies, sums up my opinion of people pretty nicely:
Tommy Lee Jones said it: "A *person* is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it. " |
