Horror Movie With Best Music

Ive seen alot of the same threads lately about whose the best villian, who'd beat who, etc. etc.

Well, which horror movie has the best music? Im sure therell be some great ones i forget so just list them.

It was a tough call for me because i really like the nightmare music but i really love Philip Glasses Candyman theme.

ShamSham04 11-18-2003 04:13 AM

I can't choose between...

- The Exorcist
- Friday The 13th
- Halloween

_Leatha_Face_ 11-18-2003 05:19 AM

i chose the halloween theme its freaky and when u hear it u know exactly what it iz

FangoFan 11-18-2003 10:20 AM

I like the Halloween theme, but some other good ones are
Christine, Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, The Shining, Misery, the Subspecies movies

mudsliptones 11-18-2003 10:23 AM

as much as I love the halloween theme, Im going for friday the 13th, cause nothing beats the tune that obviously says "kill mom" in echos
I love it

Dammit! You've torn me. It's between Phantasm and Halloween for sure.

Nutty **** 11-18-2003 11:41 AM

Halloween

Killer Clown#1 11-18-2003 12:56 PM

I would have to say the Friday series but my favorites that are not on the list are Killer Klowns from Outer Space and The Puppet Master series.

Don't forget the March of the Dead and Darkman.:)

FreddyFan 11-18-2003 01:35 PM

I had to go with the nightmare series. both halloween and friday the 13 came close though.

Dyvim Tyvar 11-18-2003 03:59 PM

While i love me some creepy music i think that Nightmare series gets it. My fav. horror series is Friday the 13th but that fucking freddy music is just the shit. but i also like the halloween theme.

Ritualistic 11-18-2003 05:31 PM

Holy shit!!! I cant choose one...

crazy clown 11-18-2003 05:38 PM

SoUl SuRvIvOrS 11-18-2003 06:47 PM

Have to agree its really only a sound effect. Pretty tame.
but then again so is TCM "music".

I didnt know he did that! I love the Red Dragon music he did, most of his stuff is dark with a kinda quirky comedy thrown in, but the Red Dragon Score is truly amazing. Should have put that on here. Hes got a good singing voice too (Nightmare Before Xmas-Jack & Barrel)

avenger00soul 11-18-2003 06:56 PM

The PuppetMaster music should sound good. As a matter of fact any music Richard Band composes should sound good b/c he tends to borrow bits from Bernard Herrman.:D It's all good though.

SoUl SuRvIvOrS 11-18-2003 07:05 PM

Arioch..you know that was two seperate thoughts I posted before right?...well yea Avenger music is always better when you borrow from Herrman:D

SoUl SuRvIvOrS 11-18-2003 08:36 PM

your not a moron Im just one of those people that never seperate my thoughts...they are all together and come out that way...so my fault just wanted to make sure you didnt think I was an idiot and thought The Puppet Master Music was from Danny Elfmans music. Somethings I do have a little knowledge on and some music and horror flick and definately serial killers are a couple things I have indepth crap..mostly trivia :D

abbycomix 11-18-2003 08:53 PM

Mine aren't on the list: Suspiria (Gremlins rock!) Wild Zero because of my Japanese rock heros, Guitar Wolf, and Return of the Living Dead had the Cramps and some other cool rock on it. Though Danny Elfman is awesome and Halloween's soundtrack was pretty groundbreaking.
I think for horror soundtracks Halloween's and Suspiria's are the most outstanding. Suspiria is the only horror movie I've seen where afterwards I was wondering, who did that great music?!

SoUl SuRvIvOrS 11-18-2003 09:07 PM

Suspiria 1977......"Marcos" adapted from "Music in Similiar Motion" by Philip Glass..Arranged by Claudio Simonetti,Massimo Morante, Fabio Pignatti and Agostino Marangolo..Performed by GOBLIN....KICK ASS MUSIC

abbycomix 11-19-2003 07:20 AM

Once upon a time they were credited as The Goblins, but it's just Goblin now.

it's actually a verry distorted and altered voice that says kill (kill) mom (mom)
wich is from the first, to say, kill mom , kill for me
I think it's really cool

Necromancer 11-19-2003 10:52 AM

i choose nightmare

yea i knew that. but since its a voice then wouldn't it be more of a sound effect than music???

SoUl SuRvIvOrS 11-19-2003 09:29 PM

No I havent heard anything Philips did with Aphex Twin... I like AFX ..fuckin rocks...I have Drukqs and Ventolin-The Remixes..I think they put out a new Album in March something like 20(something) mixes for cash...I think thats the title. Not sure ,What kinda stuff did AFX do with Philips?

Arioch 11-20-2003 12:18 AM

No i havent heard it but we talked about it in my Music Synthesis class. My professor said the guy from Aphex (forgot his name) mailed Philip a letter saying "I Want To Work With You" scribbled out in crayon. So philip thought it might be interesting. lol havent heard it tho.

SoUl SuRvIvOrS 11-20-2003 05:19 AM

Richard D. James is his name...I was thinking it would be awesome as hell if Elfman, Herrman, Reznor ,and Richard James were to do something together....That would be very interesting.

Looks like we have the same taste in music too soul. You just named my top 2 favorite musicians, along with Herrman and James who rock in their own right as well.

SoUl SuRvIvOrS 11-21-2003 07:05 PM

To fuckin cool..not alot of people around here like my music..They listen to country...nothing against it..they work just as hard as any artist..But I could never get into it. I have nothing but admiration for music artist/musicians..just sometimes I cant chill with their sound. YOu know what I mean? I definately like my music loud ...so I have a lot of people "gracing" me with their opinion of my music. hehehehe ....fuck'em all.. :D

Mentos 11-22-2003 07:46 PM

Halloween by far, that is the only song that actually makes me scared hehe. I hear that song and I look directly behind me to check if Michael Myers popped out of my bathroom or something lol.

nightbreed 11-25-2003 11:15 AM

im not saying it was the best, but i have to give props to Resident Evil. The sound design was great. That and any movie that manages to fit in NINS Wish has got my respect. Props to Marilym Manson on the sound design.

AUSTIN316426808 11-25-2003 12:17 PM

YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS WITH THIS HALLOWEEN.

JOHN CARPENTER WOULD BE PISSED OFF IF HE SAW THIS.

krokus 12-09-2003 04:28 PM

that song from Return of the living dead

was so kick ass i had to order the whole damn CD. It goes something like WE are gonna party DIN DIN DIN DIN! LMAO! Love that shit. ALso theme from Nightmare 3 Dream Warriors is phenomenol but Dokken refuses to play that song live anymore cause they sold out. The theme from Friday the 13th Part 6 that Alice Cooper does is still in my car and my girlfriend loves it. Even the 3 year old kid bebops to it. Texas Chainsaw next generation had some cool metal in it when Matty McCanahay was driving aroudn in his truck in the middle of the flick. Trick or Treat had some delicious tunes. THe list goes on and on!
