Ghost Ship?

What are your opinions on this film? I personally enjoyed it quite a bit.

terrible terrible movie

knife_fight 02-22-2005 07:11 PM

I voted so-so because I absolutely loved the opening sequence. After that it was just another bad Hollywood horror movie.

ShankS 02-23-2005 12:28 AM

last 2/3rds of it went down hill.

urgeok 02-23-2005 02:19 AM

i've seen a lot worse

slasherman 02-23-2005 05:08 AM

Not scary...

The Mothman 02-23-2005 05:17 AM

I didnt think that it was scary either, but ya, as he said, the opening seqeunce was awesome.:D

urgeok 02-23-2005 05:27 AM

it also had a bit of origionality going for it ..
i liked the supernatural element - or mythological element for that matter (the Ferryman) even if it was stretched.

the acting was passable.. it had a bit of a 'shining' vibe at times ...and yes the opening sequence was impressive - even if this film company is making cgi slice and dice (literally) its trademark ...

i thought it was very passable...

slasherman 02-23-2005 05:28 AM

....where everyone is severed in the torso area by a cable

The Mothman 02-23-2005 06:57 AM

and toward the end . . . . . . the hook caught under the chin???? OUCH!!!

I like me a good cheeseburger, and this one I thought was a very good cheeseburger. Fun!

The_Return 03-11-2005 09:28 AM

It wasnt very good, but it could have been alot worse. "So-so" is prefect.

zwoti 03-11-2005 10:00 AM

suck-fest

X¤MurderDoll¤X 03-11-2005 10:02 AM

I didn't like it very much.

who did ?

barbra 03-11-2005 11:21 AM

the very first 5 minutes or so rock, other than that, kids really don't scare me anymore. Ive been desenitised (<-spelling?) to dead children and their creepiness, thanks hollywood.

immortalem 03-11-2005 05:34 PM

I agree the first 5 minutes of Ghost Ship was awesome. I even thought the end was okay, where the ghosts go onto another ship. But the whole middle part was pretty boring. I did think Julianne Marguiles did an okay job in the film.

The Mothman 03-11-2005 08:33 PM

yeh, but the flashback scene in the middle of the movie kicked ass, with the hook under th neck and all, that still makes me cringe.

Hate_Breeder 03-11-2005 10:07 PM

It was alright in a non-horror sense

I think that's the problem.

Wickerman 03-12-2005 05:32 AM

Not Much!

Ghost Ship wasnt a bad movie per say but unfortunately it was very bland. To me it seems they were warming up Julianna Marguiles for feature films rather than trying to produch a great film.

movies like that don't make careers, they sink them.
wacka wacka wacka

Buffy_101 04-04-2005 02:57 PM

The opening sequence was awesome, but the rest was boring. It might have been better if it had been scarier. Okay movie, but nothing great. Only rent if your really curious.

the best opening scene to a horror movie ever.

42ndStreetFreak 04-07-2005 11:12 AM

Complete shit! Typically awful, mainstream, American horror dross.

lee challenger 04-11-2005 05:20 AM

Just seen it and got what I expected.
Excellent beginning, decent ending but nothing memorable in between.
Dodgy digital effects that made the movie look like animation with live actors at times.
Not scary at all but some decent gore.

Preacher 04-11-2005 05:43 AM

As I said before........GAY!!! Totally GAY.

Dear me....
Come now, what happend to the Queen's English.

EXTR3MIST 04-11-2005 01:32 PM

Should have known it would be mild, crowd pleasing horror from it's mainstream status... and this was confirmed in the CGI-riddled opening "massacre".

urgeok 04-11-2005 01:56 PM

i expected another dead teeneager film and it ended up being somewhat better than that ..
mainstream - sure .. but it exceeded my very low expectations ..

EXTR3MIST 04-11-2005 01:58 PM

Sometimes stuff like this does - I liked Urban Legend.

Shrug.

filmmaker2 04-12-2005 03:09 PM

Don't you folks know a decent piece of crap when you see it?
