I was surprised....

Okay, Saturday Night, I sat and watched Saturday Night Fever (it was on Spike tv, whihc was also surprising), and i was shocked. I had always thought it was a stupid disco movie. There was actually a plot. And Character developement!

And i got to see Travolta get kicked in the nuts, which is something that i have wanted to witness since i first saw Grease (although beyond that, I have nothing against John."

I think the best role Travolta played was in Broken Arrow, I love his character in that movie...

I've never watched Saturday Night Fever or Grease.

I liked travolta in that, but i cant stand John Woo movies. the only one that didnt make me want to punch someone was face off.

I was an Airforce Brat until i was 17. the "B-3" in broken arrow was just lame IMO.

But you have to love a guy who would kill his employer with a flashlight to the gullet :)

watching the dance scenes now - in saturday night fever make me laugh so hard i almost piss myself.

back in my home town it was a common thing for a bunch of people to come back after the bars closed and watch a movie at my place.

some times it was evil dead - sometimes it was saturday night fever.

either one, we howled our faces off laughing..

I thought he was pretty good in The Punisher, ya know being so fuckin mean and all.

i thought he was great in face-off ...
and cage - what a blast that movie probably was to make, where good guy and bad guy get to switch rolls 1/2 way through.

Travolta is a solid actor .. he always was. Even if he's in some bad movies he's never the guy to blame. (other than his career decisions)

the best actors play a bad guy as well as a good guy ... which puts him damn near in the class of Gene Hackman and Michael Caine

Travolta plays a great villain. He looks scary when he acts mean, and he is fucking huge.

Kinda liek Liam Neeson. i had never paid attention to how big he was until i saw Rob Roy. I laughed when he cleaved tim roth in half. :)

I never saw that whole movie, only bits and pieces.......back when Disco came to be it caused a wedge in society if you will.
Those who liked Disco and those whom did not.I fell into the later category. Proudly wearing my "Disco Sucks" t-shirt while listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I also had to get rid of my older Bee Gee's albums.

I finally truly understood the jokes in Airplane :)

I saw Saturday Night Fever and was surprised at how dark it was. The characters are really not that likable and they have no purpose except to win at the dance contest. But still Travolta was pretty good in the film. My favorite Travolta films have to be Face/Off, Pulp Fiction, Ladder 49, and Mad City. Travolta is one of those few actors who can play a bad character as well as a good one.
