Things You'd Love To See

Okay, here's the question. This is something I'm really curious about:

What would you all most like to see in horror films today?

I'm not talking about what your favorite movies ARE:

I'm asking, what is Hollywood NOT making that you would LIKE to see?

Your fondest wish!

Your happiest dream!

The most wonderful thing

That makes you SCREAM!

Tell me about it, I wanna know.

urgeok 02-14-2005 11:46 AM

more gratuitous nudity (no joke)
and something fresh new and origional ...
something unusual

something with good acting ...

i want to see a horror film with excellent adult actors that know what the fuck they are doing.

(which pretty much eliminates DiNiro who hasnt been in a good horror film since angel heart)

Vodstok 02-14-2005 11:48 AM

A game where people throw ducks at balloons, and nothing is as it seems....

Anyway, I would love to see a GOOD video game movie, that stays true to the plot of the game.

A GOOD movie based on Dungeons and Dragons (or any other RPG)

A complete year without a remake (nothign against them, i would just like to see 12 months fgo by with some original ideas)

Ben Affleck to trip and break his giant ass-crack chin.

I want to see Al Pacino do a horror movie. I think Devil's Advocate looks like steaming shit, but Im gonna see it sometime just because of Pacino. I think he'd make a great villan in a horror.

urgeok 02-14-2005 12:04 PM

the best ones are the guys who you'd never suspect ..

like Gregory Peck in the Omen.
Or all of the old fellas (esp. Astair in Ghost Story - although that movie could have been so much more)

One notable exception was Phantoms - even Peter O'toole coulnt lend credibility to that mess.

still , gimme a Gene HAckman, someone like that ..

Vodstok 02-14-2005 12:10 PM

I agree with oyu on phantoms. i kept thinking "Pleas elet peter otoole be in somehting else so he doesnt die with THIS as his last movie...."

And my prayers were answered, he was in Out To Sea.

GorePhobia 02-14-2005 12:15 PM

i want the unthinkable to be thinkable....

I want to say holy shit thats disgusting and have to turn away...

I want to be stuck to my seat and not wanna move...(never happened b4)

I want to be able to see a girl go without falling and think she is away but then die when we least supspect it :)

more cannibalism

graphic torture *not oh thats gotta hurt, but GAWD DAMN I CAN DAMN NEAR FEEL THAT FROM HERE*

kill the drama queen pretty bitches *prom queen's suck unless its carrie* and let the least likely person live, or just kill them ALL!

Have a movie with no weapons involved *at least on the killers part*, let him do the deeds with animalistic rage, either beating, biting, tearing, etc.

I wanna see more psychological stuff like Se7en,Silence of the Lambs and the Shinning, three of the five best horror films ever made (IMO)

X¤MurderDoll¤X 02-14-2005 01:36 PM

It's too bad Brad Pitt is above horror now.

Gren the cake 02-14-2005 01:51 PM

I thought he was great in Se7en, the '96 oscars should have been at the very least loaded with nominees for Se7en.

Woody Harelson could've been bumped for Brad Pitt, Armen Mulluer-Stahl could've been bumped for either Morgan Freeman or Kevin Spacey, Secrets and Lies could've been bumped from the best picture category and last but definately not least Andrew Kevin Walker should've been nominated for best screenplay.

jedicow 02-14-2005 02:06 PM

i want to see a good zombie movie starring robert de niro, brad pitt, keira knightly, laurence fishburn, harrison ford, bruce willis, monica potter, glenn close, jeff goldblum, and eric bana.

don't hold your breathe. that's about a hundred-sixty million dollar cast.

Death By Jell-O 02-14-2005 02:30 PM

Something Original. Not Even Entirely Original, (Like House of 1000 Corpses. Yes, It was heavily influenced by TCSM, but it is still one of my all time fave horror flicks. It had good atmosphere and a decent story line as far as horror goes. It wasn't completely original, but it was very entertaining)

We are in dire need of a new horror icon, someone worthy of spawning a mass of sequels (good sequels at that). Use of unknown actors in a movie in hopes of actually having some good actors/actresses. Hollywood is too wrapped up in getting the big names to appear in hopes of upping the monetary gross of shitty movies, but in the end, they ALL fail to deliver. The influx of new horror movies and remakes is getting sad. They're all rated PG-13 now which equates into a whole lotta made for TV crap. I want to see something rated R or NC-17 or something. That way we know we're getting quality horror entertainment rather than some crappy, we're trying so hard to be scary shit.

I just want good horror I guess. Something that reminds me of the days when horror movies were actually worth watching.

majorbludd 02-14-2005 07:55 PM

more established actors in independent horror films....ie... pleasance in halloween

Hate_Breeder 02-14-2005 08:25 PM

I would like to see a good horror movie thats not a remake for once.....that would be a surprise..

GorePhobia 02-14-2005 08:30 PM

i would deff rather have no names...maybe 1 other somebody there too and just have the no names make a name for themselves...it would be alot better IMO

the no name thing only works if the script is worthwhile and the people making the movie give a shit....a fresh face is great....but theres a million faces that are attractive that bring nothing to the table...and for obvious reasons these are the grills hollywood wants us to see...for every steve buscemi...and john c reilly....theres a hundred ryan goslings...

GorePhobia 02-14-2005 08:48 PM

yeah u have a major point...I just want an amazing director and script to where they can make these new actors look amazing

ChEEbA 02-14-2005 09:47 PM

I'd like to see a one eyed guy cut his penis off with scissors, and wear the severed unit inside his empty eye socket, then dipping the stump in sand, and melting into glass with a souldering iron.

Vodstok 02-15-2005 04:09 AM

Ew.

I would like to see the Napolean Dynamite of horror films.

One Somebody who isnt really a big somebody (Diedrich Bader in ND)

Consistently entertaining, without ever being particularly over the top

Satisfying ending.

A dance number to Jamiroquai (What? a guy can dream cant he?)

do you reckon that would hurt?

Wendigo 02-15-2005 04:57 AM

I would really like to see a good movie based on a short story by H.P. Lovecraft
 . Many directors tried, but, in my view, no one succeded in re-creating that unique atmosphere which makes each Lovecraft's work a materpiece. It should be weird and old-fashioned, fantastic but also scary and overwheliming... it should be Lovecraft. Am I asking too much ;) ?

Vodstok 02-15-2005 04:58 AM

I would be willing to bet it stopped hurting once the penis was gone

thats near the end of my list of things i want to see.

right before michael bolton singing in person, and after Elvis's autopsy video.

You are my new freind. i have been begging for this exact thing for years. Is it so hard?

And can we NOT have Stuart (Reanimator, Dagon) Gordon involved? AT All?

Maybe he can rent it on VHS when its released on it....

you know .. i thought Dagon was pretty ok ...

Vodstok 02-15-2005 05:16 AM

I know a lot of HP Lovecraft fans that liked it too. I am just continually disappointed by the movies made from his stories. Dagon (the story) had NOTHING to do with the story of the movie. The movie was a bastardised version of "The Shadow Over Innsmouth". Dagon was a suicide note.

Im just tired of them being made with enthusiasm but with no real talent or story-telling ability

Have you still not seen Re-Animator?

filmmaker2 02-15-2005 06:52 AM

Very interesting answers from everybody....taking a step back, I notice a lot of people seem to think that modern horror movies aren't very good, on average, and would like to see them better made...

And a lot of people seem insulted by the trend of stupid "victim" characters--righty so, IMO, because if the majority of the "good guys" are idiots, then the characters the AUDIENCE is supposed to "identify" with are idiots. That of course means that there is a tendency on the part of horror filmmakers (or the studios that fund them) to talk down to, or insult their audience. In other words, many people seem to sense that their favorite genre has a disdain for the very audience that ponies up for the box office. "These people are idiots, let's make some more crap for them so they can buy us swimming pools."

So...smarter movies, smarter characters.

As for myself, I want to see:

"LEPRECHOSITY"

A leprechaun that is a computer-composite of 33 of the most dangerous leprechauns breaks free from the Matrix to seek his pot o' gold. Me pot o' gold, Missssster Anderson, I WANTS ME POT O' GOLD!

Wendigo 02-15-2005 06:56 AM

Dagon is a movie u can watch, but totally misses the atmosphere of "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" :(, one of Lovecraft's masterpieces. It's hard to explain, but HPL works such as "The Shadow..." or the "Colour out of space", or "The Dunwich Horror", has something unique which makes them great! I can't find the same quality in a movie like Dagon.

Re-animator... I can't shoot on this movie, but it's based on a short story that Lovecraft himself didn't like very much, written strictly under commission, episode after episode. I mean... the story isn't bad, but definitely it's not HPL at his best. And so the movie :p ...

There's nothing to do... I'm not satisfied with Gordon's attempts. I agree with Vodstok: he worked with enthusiasm, but something is missing and I'll be waiting 'till someone else "will find it", cause I'm not sure Gordon is fit to direct the movie I've got in mind.
Glad to know I'm not alone in this wait, couse I fear it will be a long, long one ;)

Vodstok 02-15-2005 07:03 AM

Hey, Wendigo. Here is a site you may enjoy (if you havent seen it alread)

http://www.templeofdagon.com/

great Lovecraft Gallery, and the guy who owns the site is very freindly and hands on.

I think I've done this. I've never heard of anything else like what I came up with but of course I could always be wrong.

urgeok 02-15-2005 07:16 AM

they should do the Night Stalker - as series of movies.
with a crusty old guy - not some young punk ass pretty boy.
