Godzilla vs. Gamera
I think Godzilla from Toho studios should fight Gamera from Daiei studios. Both studios did meet to tslk about such a movie but Toho said no. I think Toho knows Godzilla has nothing to prove as he is already the King of the monsters. I as a fan would love to see a G vs G movie as would many Kaiju movie fans. But I doubt if its going to happen.

Godzilla..all the way!

Hi Angra good question Yes I have seen 2 of the last 3 Gamera movies made by Daiei studios. I have never been a fan of Gamera movies as they are made just for kids. However when Daiei studios made a 2nd Gamera series a Heisei Gamera series in the 90s I was very impressed by the 1st 2 Gamera movies I did see as they were not kiddie movies. Daiei hired director Shusuke Kaneko and he directed all 3 Gamera movies in 1995 1996 1999. When Toho studios was making what was to be their last Godzilla movie in 1995 Godzilla vs. Destroyer Daiei was making the 1st of their new Gamera movies Gamera Guardian of the Universe the 2nd was in 1996 Gamera Advent of Legion and the 3rd was made in 1999 titled Gamera 3 revenge of Irys. I must confess I have yet to see Gamera 3 but many Kaiju fans say it is an awesome movie. Also just as Daiei had finished making their last and 3rd Heisei Gamera movie in 1999 Toho was about to make the 1st of their new Millennium Godzilla series movies titled Godzilla2000. Funny thing now that Godzilla Final Wars has may have been the last of the Godzilla Millennium movies seems that Daiei might make another Gamera movie in 2005. Lets not forget that Peter Jackson is also making KingKong for 2005 as well. The best Godzilla movie of the Millennium series is Godzilla Mothra KingGhidora GMK for short it was made in 2001 and was directed by Shusuke Kaneko.

Just one last question: Are they all 3 horror movies?;) |
Hi Angra I would say Shusuke Kaneko the director of the 3 90s Gamera movie put a bit of horror in each movie even some gore. Because these Gamera movies were not made in a kiddie style Gamera movies of the 60s&70s they are much better more monster like. The best way to see these movies imo is by watching the original Jap versions but with english subtitles. When you see these movies here in stores they have ben redubbed in the USA and much of the wordsin the english versions are diffrent than the original Jap versions. I prefer watching subtitled versions at least you see an uncut movie no deleted scenes. Here in the USA film makers will redub a movie and ad jokes where there arnt any why they do this with jap monster movies is beyond me. VideoDaikaiju has the original jap movies uncut in VHS ans DVD formats subtitled you can contact them at [email protected] ask for a catalog.

By the way, i always watch the movies in the original language with english subt. WouldnŽt have it any other way. ;) |
Hi Angra the way I see it any horror movie made in another country is better seen subtitled. I hate usa dubbing yawn damn I went to bed at 3:35am and got up at 7:45am I am sure I am going to crash out later this day.

great movie idea im sure it would make lots of money.... go godzilla!!:D :D
P.S. gojira just a future note so you know whcih im sure you do godzilla is not horror it is science fiction but we only have modern horror movies so post things here anyway scifi counts too... just letting you know |
Hi Friday I would say Godzilla is both Horror and Scifi much like Frankenstien is both Horror and Scifi. It is very victional to think you can bring back a person to life with Science in the day Victor Frankenstien was alive. Its what is called Science fiction. But many horror fans also say its horror so which is right? I say its both. Now if you back in history to 1945 when we bombed Hiroshima with an Atom bomb killing 250.000 people belive me thats true horror. Now take an H-Bomb which is 1000 times more powerful imagine how many people would die if an h-bomb were used. Yikes!! now that would be more than horror as it only takes 2 or 3 H-bombs to destroy the world. Now Godzilla in the 1954 movie is mutated by an H-bomb and has the power of an h-bomb and he uses it by emittingan atomic ray out of his mouth. Thats horror and like Frankenstien somehow a dead dinosaur is brought back to life and becomes a giant radioactive mutation. Both horror and Scifi. Btw I doubt if you have ever seen the original 1954 Godzilla movie but it is infact a real horror movie. The movie came to the USA in 1956 and new scenes were reshot and that uSA 65 version with Raymond burr was toned down and is a shorter movie. Gojira1954 a.k.a. Godzilla is 97 minutes long and is a very dark movie. The USA version Godzilla King of the Monsters that stars Burr is 79 minuts long. Last year rialto pictures was showing the 1954 movie here in the usa. The movie was subtitled in english. Imo some of the best movies are both scifi and horror and there are lots of them.

This would be quite a treat indeed.
It would be a tough match...but I'd probably go for Godzilla: Thunder Lizard! |
There is no doubt that if Daiei and Toho studios were to co produce a Godzilla vs. Gamera it would be the ultimate Daikaiju movie. btw Daikaiju means giantmonster. Some years ago the President of Daiei talked to Toho about making a Gamera vs. Godzilla movie Toho declined then only a couple of years ago Daiei pitched the same idea but Toho said no. So I doubt if a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie will be made but Kaiju fans can always hope.
Hope is the key word here. I hope they change their minds and make one.
LOL Classic for 10 years fans have been hoping for a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie. Hope is about the only thing fans have aside from that doubtful that it will happen. Its not like Godzilla has not killed giant giant Turtles before he did in Godzilla x Mothra x MechaGodzilla. The giant Turtle he killed in that movie was Kameba who was also in a 1970 movie titled Yog monster from outer space. If a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie is never made a Godzilla vs. Bagan movie would be awesome.
I would also love to see more Godzilla Vs. movies, they have always been fun to collect and look at. I really like Godzilla Vs Megalon alot aswell.
LOL Classic I hate Godzilla vs. Megalon imo its the worst Godzilla movie ever made. Well that and Godzillas Revnge both tie for being worst. I think the best Godzilla movies are Godzilla 1954 and GMK in 2001 Godzilla vs. Destroyer in 1995 is another good one. I think all 5 of the 70s Godzilla movies suck bigtime. But hey if you like Godzilla vs. Megalon then oh well. As far as Godzilla vs. Gamera hmmmaybe if someone bought out Toho and Daiei then made the movie but I doubt that will happen.

hey gojira here's an avatar for you if you want it http://images.google.com/images?q=tb...u/Godzilla.jpg |
Hey Friday very cool aviator that is a pic of Godzilla from the 1992 remake Godzilla vs. Mothra. Very nice pic as a matter of fact that very pic was used for the cover of Godzilla Bible #50.
I like every Godzilla film ever made which shows how big of a Godzilla fan I am.
Ok Classic you said I like every Godzilla movie ever made Now lets see if your telling me the truth. What did you think of Godzilla Final Wars and the 2 Godzilla movies that were made before that. Better yet name the last 6 Godzilla movies made and tell me what you thought of each one. Lets see how much of a fan you really are.
Starting from most recent:
Godzilla Final Wars: alright, cool how it had all those monsters, Xilien were kind of weird Godzilla 2000: not too bad, I enjoyed it Godzilla (the american version): my most "unfavorite" Godzilla film Godzilla Vs. Destroyah: this one is also alright Godzilla Vs. Biolante: interesting new film made by youngins... Godzilla 1985: alright, not that great, not that good. |
Quote:
sorry to but in but there are some godzilla movies in between 2000 and final wars.. ok name all 28 in order |
do I have to? lol
:D You name the movies between 2000 and Finals Wars. |
LOL hey Friday looks like Classic has not seen all the Godzilla movies not even all the last 6 Godzilla movies. I doubt if he saw Godzilla Final Wars. It was seen 1 time on day here here in the USA. Ok Classic here are the names of the last 6 Godzilla movies that were made.
1 Godzilla 2000 1999 2 Godzilla x Megagirus 2000 3 Godzilla Mothra KingGhidora 2001 4 Godzilla x MechaGodzilla 2002 5 Godzilla x Mothra x MechaGodzilla SOS 2003 6 Godzilla Final Wars 2004 Now I did not put down Tristars so called Godzilla movie in 1998 because it is not part of the series in the same way Casino Royale in 1967 is not part of the James bond 007 series. The 7 Godzilla movies that were made before 1999 Godzilla2000 were 1984 Godzilla Returns 1989 Godzilla vs. Biollante 1991 Godzilla vs. KingGhidora 1992 Godzilla vs. Mothra remake 1993 Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla remake 1994 Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla 1995 Godzilla vs. Destroyer The only movies listed that came to the USA are 1984 Godzilla came to the USA in 1985 and Godzilla 2000 came to the usa in 2000 and Godzilla Final Wars had its world premier here in the USA for 1 day in november 2004 the other movies were released on video and dvd except final Wars which will be on dvd in a few months |
Well I have not seen them all, but I like everything I have seen.
I almost forgot tosay I have all 27 Godzilla movies except the 28th Godzilla Final Wars. But I will
Also Gojira you can find Godzilla Final Wars off Limewire which I have.
I think Sony will be putting GFW out on DVD in a few months but I will probley get the original Jap version and not a USA english dubbed version.
I am guessing the jap version comes with subtitles..no?
I think VideoDaikaiju will have a subtitled version of GFW and when they do I will get it.
I am guessing it will be a little pricey.
Hi Classic I dont think $15 for a Godzilla DVD or VHS movie with english subtitles is to high a price to pay. Go ahead and e-mail VideoDaikaiju at [email protected] ask them for a catalog.
Thanks, for a newer movie I was expecting a bigger price. Hmm I'll check it out.
Godzilla Final Wars was seen here in the USA November 29th at Hollywoods Graumans Chinese Theatre. Then it opened in Japan December 4th. Plans for a release in theatres here in the USA dont look good and it will be on DVD ina Japan in a few months then later on DVD here in the USA. The only people who saw GFW here in the USA were at the world premier in Hollywood. If it is seen in here in the USA again it will probley be at the Pickwick Theatre in Chicago during the time G-Fest is going on.
Hmm, Godzilla deserves so much more credit then he gets from the US. They only think of the man in the rubber suit.
Well Classic its true that the Japanese are the ones who invented man in suit giant monster movies well almost true. I think when RKO was making KingKong in 1933 they had an actor in a Gorilla suit climb a ramp that was cut in the shape of the Empire state building. But as far as what was the 1st man in suit giant monster movie in Japan go to the Godzilla 1954-2004 section of the board in classic horror movies and find out. But I agree the USA has a lack of respect for Godzilla but I think things will change now that he got a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Yeah, I love to see a Godzilla Vs Gamera, too. But I don't think it's gonna happen. Hell, I'd like to see Destroyah Vs Legion. That'd bee a cool fight. Maybe Rodan Vs Gyoas or King Ghidorah Vs Iris. Okay, I'm getting carried away.
Hi Mr. Shape the problem with those match up ideas is that the monsters are from diffrent movie companys and I dont think Toho is willing to commit to a co production movie. Another idea which could be made would be a Godzilla vs. Rodan. Speaking of Gamera though last year at G-Fest there was a rumor that after Godzilla Final Wars opened Daiei studios would start production on 4th Gamera movie for 2005. If thats true the movie will probley open in december and both KingKong here in the USA and Gamera would be the Daikaiju/Giantmonster movies to see this year. The only Godzilla project I know for fact Toho is making for 2005 is the movie that is being filmed in IMAX 3D and being directed by Yoshimitsu Banno who directed Godzilla vs. Hedora in 1971. There is a section in ClassicHorror titled Unmade Kaiju movies it list a few unmade monster movie match up ideas.
hey gojira how much would a complete godzilla action figure collention of the ones with the red buttons from the 80's be worth?
LOL Hi Friday what Godzilla figure are you talking about that was made in the 80s that has red buttons? Is Godzilla wearing a shirt with buttons or something LOL. The 1980s Godzilla figures that come to mind are a 1985 Imperial Godzilla figure they made a big figure and a 7 inch smaller figure. But I dont remember any red buttons. Does the figure you havegive the name of the company that made it. Was the figure made here in America or some other country. Let me know.
