well, here's a controversial topic for all of you that seem to want something to talk about

stem cell research. ok? not ok? why? why not? you all know the drill

and if you get the chance post the sources that you're pulling from. that'll eliminate at least some stupidity... i hope

I'm all for stem cell research, provided it's kept etical and within properly controlled guidelines and environments.... in other words, it being used to improve disease eradication and prevention and to aid medical research into finding and improving ways to combat future generations illnesses etc but not be allowed to be used by some mad fucked up scientist to start cloning everyone and anything they wish.

I support stem cell research, but only as a byproduct of my support for killing babies.

Seriously it's okay as long as we don't start making super babbies for the rich and crap like that. I watch way to many sci-fi movies.

Oh and does anyone remeber hearing about Eve? The clone that was created in the united states. It was on the news a year or 2 ago and Poof. Never heard another thing about it after that. Makes me think they covered it up or something. Yeah I know stop watching sci-fi channel. LOL

whats the big deal about stem cells anyway .. you can only find them in plants ... that have stems.

Damn dude. You are taking this way too seriously. I appreciate your willingness to bring up a lightning-rod type of subject...but not everyone is going to decide to express their opinions about it.

You know I think life is serious enough. I can only speak for myself, but I log on to forums for a little break from it all. I was not mocking you. I was just trying to get people to smile or have a laugh. But if it's serious you want how about this?

I fucking hate Christmas. I think it's a big fucking joke. My dad died years ago about this time so it's all I can think of, as if that's not enough His brother just died and the other is dying his sister is all that's left of his siblings. Lifes to fucking short.

Want my opinion on Stem cell Research?
It's basically what Shanks said so long as it's kept ethical. It's frightening to think of them tapering with the stuff just because there always some jackass who takes it to far. If your trying to weed out cancer I'm all for it, but if your playing god, then leave it alone. Sorry My opinion and comment isn't full of research on the matter or big words, but I'm a simple fellow, I work in a distribution center. So life is a bit rough. It's why I try and have a sense of humor and lighten up when ever I can. Life's to fucking short to live it being pissed off.

I agree with you...life IS too short, but when you have close people dying around you...you can truly understand how delicate life is.

I hate to bring stuff like that up, but It's just to make a simple point. Life's short and it's nice if we can relax and have a laugh. Maybe I shouldn't make jokes when someone's trying to be serious, but in the immortal words of Rogger Rabbit `Sometimes laughter is the only weapon we have` I use it to fight off death I guess.

Very well said Serg. Both my mom and dad died at a very early age from cancer. [ once again kids...don't smoke ]

I never participate in the real serious topics [ abortion,religion,politics ] because people have strong opinions on these topics and it always ends up in some kind of flame war.

I don't log on here to get serious.....but hey..thats just me. Of course if Rotting Eye hadn't been so condescending he may have received a more positive responce from the masses.

As for stem cell research, if it's to better humanity - that's all it is.
If I could give up my life to make the world disease/cancer (etc) free, I'd probably do so.

So are ya talkin bout research using adult stem cells (which I work on) or embryonic stem cell research (which requires the termination of a zygote (a fertilised egg)??

Think it all depends on the point people decide a human life exists. If you think it begins when fertilisation takes place, then in theory, a human life is being lost when the zygote is terminated. However, you cant really be certain the embyo would develop anyway.
