Who here likes weterns? At the moment, Im rather obsessed with the old Clint Eastwood ones. Ive recently bought "Fistful of Dollars", "For a Few Dollars More", "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", and "Hang 'em High".
Ive only watched "Fistful..." and "Hang 'em High", but they're amazing!! I need to see a few more westerns, Im a real n00b there.... All Ive seen are the ones I mentioned, "Open Range", and a John Wayne one whose name I dont know...Lol |

Theres so many good westerns I could list, from older b&w ones to more modern..... A Bullet For The General The Alamo Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid Desperado Django The Gunfighter Hang 'Em High High Plains Drifter Lawman Tombstone and many more. Find a western review site and check some out. |
What movie is this quote from?
"Whats your name?" "Gordon." And then the guy punches him in the face. Its fucking funny but i dont know what the movie is called......and yes its a western.. |
NO ONE'S MENTIONED "THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN"????
I love westerns. |
add 'Shane' (Alan Ladd) and 'The Searchers' (John Wayne) to the list of classics.
Oh .. and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Support Your Local Gunfighter was a fun comedy western with James Garner. |
I love Westerns. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly & Once Upon a Time in the West are among my favorites. I like most of the Eastwood movies, except Hang 'em High. I like some of the John Wayne movies too; Rio Bravo and The Shootist were good. Does Quigley Down Under count as a Western?

As for the John Wayne flicks, check out Rio Bravo and then you've seen 'em all. The Searchers is different, I guess, as is Liberty Vallance, but LV is more of a James Stewart movie. I never much cared for John Wayne. |
lonesome dove is the best western ever.
and every western starring john wayne and clint eastwood come equal second. |
These are the coolest westerns in my opinion...
Unforgiven Tombstone Young Guns Young Guns 2 The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Fistful of Dollars For a few Dollars More The Quick and the Dead Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid I would say you need to go rent Tombstone as quick as you possibly can, but be prepared to become a big Val Kilmer fan after you see it. His portayal of Doc Holliday is one of the best characters in any movie, ever. |

absolutely .... everyone was great in that film but Kilmer was outstanding, Huckleberry ... |

Forgot bout that one.....The Waco Kid:cool: |
Wow, all the good ones were listed.....
The Good The bad and The Ugly is one of the greatest... |

First let me say that it's great to find out there are other horror fans who also love westerns, I thought I was the only one. Here's my top ten favorites as well as a few other choice films:
1. The Searchers-John Wayne 2. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly-Eastwood 3. The Magnifcent Seven-Yul Brynner 4.Rio Bravo-John Wayne 5. Siverado- Scott Glen, Kevin Costner 6.The Outlaw Josey Wales- Clint Eastwood 7.Lonesome Dove-Robert Duvell,Tommy Lee Jones 8.Tombstone- Kurt Russell 9.Winchester '73- James Stewart 10. High Plains Drifter-Clint Eastwood. Now if your interested in John Wayne films you might want to check out "Stagecoach, War Wagon, Hondo, Red River,True Grit" just a few of dozens of great Wayne westerns More good Eastwood films include "Pale Rider,Hang 'Em High, For A Few Dollars More" James Stewart movies:"The Man From Laramie, Broken Arrow" You may also want to try "The Hour Of The Gun'with James Garner Sam Rami's "The Quick And The Dead" with Sharon Stone and "The Long Riders" with Stacy Keach. To get a good overall look at westerns you may want to check out a book called "The Overlook Film Encylopedia-The Western" (they also have a horror and Sci-Fi editions) Now I have a question for anyone reading this very long post..do any of you know of a site like Horror.Com but is devoted to the Western? I can't seem to find any. If you know of one please send me a message. |
not unusual that we would like westerns when you think of it ..
The Wild Bunch is credited by some as the 1st 'splatter' movie. The first movie to show bullets hitting in slow-mo with blood shooting out. Before that there was a gunshot .. someone grabbed their chest and they fell over. thank you Mr Sam Peckinpah ! |
