Things vampires loathe

I'm doing this review on a vampire flick. Can you people list things vampires loath?

So far I have :

Mirrors
Holy water
Fire (?)
Sunlight
Crosses
Garlic

If you know of something else to add to the list, even if you've rarely seen it, post it anyway!

Thanks

ShankS 10-08-2004 05:18 AM

wooden stakes?
cats?

other than that, I think you've listed them all.

Steve_Hutchison 10-08-2004 05:26 AM

"wooden stakes" Hey thanks. Don't know how I managed to forget that one! Cats might not be generic enough but any suggestion is welcome really.

I've heard they're afraid of silver, or at least they can be hurt by it. I think originally the metal that hurt them was iron, but as iron became more common it was changed to silver. Over the years the folklore surrounding vampires has been mixed up with the stories about ghosts and witches etc., so there's elements of all these things in there. So in some older stories they couldn't cross running water, similar to ghosts.

SLAYERS............ Like Buffy!! Churchs

allmykids 10-08-2004 05:53 AM

The one who syered them(the one who made them a vampire). You know if they have not completed what ever task the master has given them.

allmykids 10-08-2004 06:10 AM

Sucking blood from some who is already dead.( Like in interview with the vampire.) Oh and decapitation!!!

meetthecreeper 10-08-2004 06:11 AM

Throw some rice on the floor, they are compelled to pick it up and count it I believe also, drives them crazy.

I made some more research and I found something I thought I'd share with you. Apparently, if you hold your breath, vampires can't see you. Is that super cool or totally stupid? I can't tell...

that belief mainly stems form your eastern type vampire myths/beleifs. they believed a vampire was so anal, that if you put a pile of rice at you windows, doors etc. the vampire would have to stop and count them one by one before moving on. and hopefully the sun was up by the time he was done. also from chinesse beliefs. the vampire couldnt go across sticky rice, so if you spread that over the floor it would burn their feet if they trod on it. also if you held your breath the vampire can't see you.. thats what believed in the chinesse mythology of vampires anyway

Ant-vampire pebbles

I saw something called "anti-vampire pebbles" in a documentary once. According to the vampire expert, if you show these to a vampire, the vampire will "run screaming in the opposite direction." The stones were just polished black rocks.

If you were being chased by a hundred vampires and they were closing in and you pulled some of these out, would they ALL run screaming in the opposite direction?

That would look really neat!

if I had vampires after me, I'd chuck a 15Kg bag of basmatti rice everywhere.... that'll keep the bugers busy till sunrise :D

Sorry that would not work. In dracula 2,000 2, It took the vampire about 2 sec. to count that rice. He looked at the rice on the ground and said who many there where, just that quick!!!

running water....

vampires arn't supposed to be able to cross running water, like a stream or brook or something like that.

silver is a threat to vampires, not in the same way as it is to werewolves, but vamps do fear it.

obviously crucafixes, wooden stakes, holy water, garlic, sunlight.

this is my first post so i hope it wa ok for me to just join in and post this?

Vampanze

A race very simiar to vampires, in fact were part of the vampire clan at one time. However, certain vampires had different beliefs, some believed that a victim should always be drained of blood. So these vampires split away from the clan, and the excessive amounts of blood turned the colur of the skin and hair. They are now the vampires true ememies.

Concept from the Saga of Darren Shan, put into my words to avoid plagurisim
