best haunting movies

which haunting movies are the best (similar as Amityville horror)?

You know, I had a thread about this not too long ago ... and never really got any help with it. I've been disappointed by just about every haunted house movie I have ever seen.

In fact, the only one that doesn't bore me to tears is House, starring that great American hero, William Katt.

"Believe it or not, im walking on air, I never thought i could feel so free-e-e."

HAHA! I loved that show.....

Yeah, haunting movies are typically glitz these days, with very little put into actual creepiness. i am writing a story about a "haunted" old building... I hope it provides the desired effect. (basically, scares someone shitless)

The house on haunted Hill remake got a lot of the visuals right, btu the movie as a whole just doesnt hold up. Not caring what happens to the characters hurts the story.

I'll tell you the same thing I told Stingy.
"The Changeling" with George C Scott.
I thought it was very creepy and it was a great little mystery as well.

I think I may have seen that, and have forgotten all about it. Was that the one with the dead kid in the well? The kid who's dad drowned him the tub?
