Baise Moi R2 - another good french one.
The Killer R2 - Chow kicks ass.
The Samurai Trilogy Box Set R2 - I love samaurai.
Highlander: The Immortal Edition R1 - always wanted it on DVD
A Better Tomorrow Trilogy (DTS/3 Disc Set) R0 - Chow kicks more ass
Face R3 - another Asian spooky
Predator 2: Collector's Edition DTS R1 - been on my wishlist for months.
Haute Tension Uncut R3 - got the R2 supposedly uncut last week, but was cut, by at least 3 minutes.
Shaolin Soccer: Ultimate R3 - got Kung Fu Hustle last week, really enjoyed it, so got this.

42ndStreetFreak 03-01-2005 05:04 AM

What R2 "Haute Tension" did you get?

As all versions availabale now are uncut, including the recent UK release.

ShankS 03-01-2005 05:20 AM

The Optimum Releasing R2 Switchblade Romance version, had a total runtime of 88 mins in my dvd player, but the case info and imdb said 91 minutes.

The R3 version is the Dae Gyung South Korean Uncut one, as above 91 minutes, so I'll check to compare when it arrives. Either way one version I'll pass onto my brother, who's interested.

The world has been split up into DVD 'regions'. Different regioned DVDs will only play in a DVD player that corresponds with the region code of a particular DVD. Unless you have a region free DVD player or run region free software on your Pc, then you'll be able to play any region DVD film

:)

Yeah, but that would be Theatrical running time. You lose roughly 4 minutes for every hundred so 88 minutes would be about right.

The 'Optimum' release is actually one of the best, especially with the extras.
DVDCompare

ShankS 03-01-2005 05:43 AM

Seams strange, I've checked a couple of other longer R2 films, and the total playtime was pretty much the same as the cover info run time. There may be some discrepancy with what was printed in the info on different versions. I'm glad I've order the R3 one now, I'm interested to see what it's runtime will be in my player.

The_Return 03-02-2005 01:55 PM

Movie store 'round here's goin outta bussiness, but they hardly have anything decent left...

I stopped in and grabbed The Jackals, Vincent Price in a westen...should certainly be interesting!

I may stop in again soon and get [I forget the name], a compilation/documentary on some of the greatest [Worst?] killers/deaths in horror movie history. $4:)

Very Nice. I havent seen the "Jackals" but ive seen the "Jackal" with Bruce Willis and that movies pretty hardcore. If you think about anymore you might want to buy, post it.

The killers/deaths movie sounds like a pretty sweet deal though to me..

the Divimax Edition yeah? This version is a new transfer that's been down-converted from a hi-def master, so the picture is improved, along with 5.1dts.

thats the one !

filmmaker2 03-03-2005 05:13 PM

I bought the single-disc version of "Dawn of the Dead" (after buying various VHS and laser versions over the years!) and was very pleased by both the image and the 5.1 remix. Sounds fantastic (except for a couple of moments when the ricochets and so on are going "ping! ping! pchew!" all over the place as if to say, "LOOK AT ME, I'M IN STEREO! STEREO, DONCHA GET IT? NO HANDS!").

No, I'm not griping, overall it was quite nice, I just wanted to give the remix people a little grief for no reason. Actually, for years I'd wanted to hear DOTD in stereo, so it was literally a dream come true.
