ANDRE (1994). After seeing the statue in Rockport Maine last month, decided to revisit the film after not seeing in some time. A seal is adopted by Keith Carradine and his family and the film details how Andre became a celebrity around the area (early 1960's). Lots of good vintage props like cars, TVs, music etc. While the film is geared towards children (and it seems a couple of gags are overused), adults should like it as well. Entertaining, funny and, if I may say so, charming little film. ***1/2

Aussie demon film with a tad bit of gore. Wasn't bad.

War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)

https://s1.postimg.org/5na78xjkf/War_Apes.jpg

Excellent motion-capture + CGI animation once again worked remarkably for Andy Serkis to deliver another amazing performance as Caesar and that's one of the main reasons for this 3rd & Best installment in the reboot-trilogy to made it a heart-warming experience at the theater. A very human tale about the survival of the Apes and fall of the humans...quite deep & moving at times. Highly recommended.

The 2nd best film of the year after Logan.

Do you believe these re-makes surpass the originals?

Though conceptually they are connected but I think it won't be fair to compare them right away. May be time will tell but the thing is both set of the films (originals & this reboot/prequel series) resonates kind of different sensitivity or essence and political tone based on their different time period and technological advancements in story telling through celluloid. Like to appreciate the way that this time the studio or the men behind this series just didn't rebooted the series like most other similar contemporary 'reboots' of classic/acclaimed movie/TV series of past but they treated the theme with care & patience particularly in terms of main character & story development area, somewhat like an effort to build a sort of a bridge towards the originals for today's young audience. Even I'm now quite excited and seriously considering to have a special P.O.T.A movie-marathon soon by re-watching only the originals.
