HORROR HOTEL (1960). Great creepy little film that has the goods still. My daughter liked this a lot when she was little, but commented that "...Christopher Lee is always full of evil and Woo". Wasn't sure what she meant until she said "WOO!" like a ghost::big grin::, ****

Just watched Dementia 13 (1963), not sure what was happening entirely but loved the scenery.

The Man With Nine Lives
Got the DVD last night. I had not seen this film since I was 6 or 7 years old. It's a neat little programmer and there is one truly terrifying moment when Karloff decides to experiment on his two rescuers. I was surprised at the tremendous amount of decomposition in the last reel of the film. They obviously used a 1950 nitrate reissue print (with Favorite Films main title).
Boris was so wonderful at making all this scientific mumbo jumbo absolutely believable. Go Cryogenics! ------------------------------------------------------------------- message ringtones download, dance ringtones free download |
THEM (1954). This was one of my Mom's favorites when she was younger and she said I would really like it when I was 10. Thought it was OK, but not more. Watched it over the weekend and think it is REALLY good. The "Gi-Ants" (showing my FAMOUS MONSTERS background) still look kind of strange, but very strong story and very good turns by James Whitmore and Edmund Gwenn. ****

Yeah, if I'm watching GZilla, it's usually on disc. I've been a fan forever and have way too many G movies. |

BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS (1953). Decent little flick based on the great Ray Bradbury story "The Foghorn". The story meanders, but the Harryhausen work still impresses. Kenneth Tobey once again saves the day, along with a young Lee Van Cleef while Cecil Kellaway is as delightful as ever, even if it seems he's playing the role from THE MUMMY'S HAND (1940). ***
|
DEAD MAN'S EYES (1944). Dreary INNER SANCTUM offering which, despite the creepy prologue (which gave me the heebie jeebies as a young 'un) is a very long 60 some minutes. Lon Chaney JR plays a blind artist who may be involved in murder. OK to see once, but Lon is SUCH a Bitch in here. **

Fiend Without A Face
Cute little thing. I loved the creature effects, from the sounds they made that sounded like heartbeats, to the creepy spine appendage that they used to move. ::smile:: |
13 GHOSTS 1960
A man moves his family into a mansion he inherited that is haunted by 12 ghosts. Genuine scares and the gosh darned sweetest family ever. |

MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH (1964). Probably the best looking of Corman's Poe flicks (Kudos to Nicholas Roeg) and although there is some padding, still a lot of fun. Vincent is top notch as usual and so is Hazel Court who is also luscious with a capital L in here. ***1/2 |

Woke up at 3:30 with a coughing fit and couldn't get back to sleep so I turned on the TV and found Rosemary's Baby playing. Score!
